We all know that comic book characters are never 100% original, however, there are sometimes examples that seem to be more than "inspired" by their predecessors. In this, we will look over lazy and stupid stolen characters from either franchise, as well as keeping a tally going for which verse steals from the other more often.

Guidelines:

- Try to provide as much proof as possible, for example, links to the specific comics with specific dates are the best proof you can get.

- Don't troll and post absurdly stupid things like "Superman" was a ripoff of "Spiderman" (Stupid example, I know)
- Nitpick, but helps:

Preferred Format: *"DC Character"* *(Comic* Date) vs *"Marvel Character"* *(Comic* Date)

Dates Abbreviated. (March, April, July, June) = Fine

* = Link

This format saves me time, as I will most likely correct it to fit this format anyways!

Feel free to leave predictions below! Mine: DC is more original (based off of my extensive knowledge on countless thefts)

Characters Stolen:

DC: 9

Marvel: 17.5

Most Ripped off of Counter: (Rip-offs are in order by their first appearance)

Superma - 3
(Hyperio, Wundarr, + The Sentry)

Batma - 3 (Iron Ma, Moon Knight, + Black Panther)

Not a stupid stolen character, but I'll put it on the list. However, for future reference, I'm getting the links to the specific comics and everything, lol.

I'd point out they ripped Black Panther to make Red Lion.

There's also Mongul who was made as a pastiche of Thanos

Also, provide links if you can, espcially for super unknown characters like Red Lion that will take digging to find :P

EDIT: RED LION CAME OUT IN 2012 WHAT

The only thing Iron Man and Batman really have in common is that they use tech (seriously, why do people compare them so much? They have almost nothing in common); BP uses tech + uses stealth + has a dark suit.

And since when is Batman the king of his own country? Similarities doesn't equal rip off.

Both have butlers that are somewhat popular, both have an iconic rivalry with a boy in blue, need I go on?

He is correct, similarities do not equal rip-off... which is why I don't get why people say Iron Man is a Batman rip off when they have almost nothing in common.

Okay, wrong word. When I say rip-off I mean this character was MORE than just inspired by another character. They're very similar, okay?

If their similarities are uncanny, then they are considered rip-offs.

Batman actually probably gets a double whammy, what do you say, guys?

Batman's counterpart would be Moon Knight.

Mr. Fantastic and Elongated Man or Plastic Man
