Weather Report vs Iihiko

ok so assuming WR starts in HW

Iihiko becomes a snail as he gets power modded into being able to be affected
 
I want to clear something up about what makes Weather's passive hax a bit different from other passive hax, before this thread continues. Heavy Weather is a passive stomp, but not a passive win. There are 3 things that can happen:

1) You collapse into a pile of snails

2) You instantly fall over into a mindless snail form

3) You slowly turn into a snail at a varying rate.

Which of these seems to be basically random, with the first 2 incapacitating at seemingly more common.

Also, Iihiko's powers are not the kind that could likely be modified into a useless form, since it isn't physical in nature. If he doesn't go mindless, he can not only fight, but may very well win

If Iihiko thinks an attack is worth defending, it can damage him. Simple as that.

Heavy Weather forces recognition, just like styles. By forcing recognition, you turn into a snail. So Heavy Weather's forceful recognition will work like a style, and work on him

Something like that. They can be activated but they don't cause any harm to him unless he recognizes it.

He had swords driven through him but took no harm from it, since he didn't recognize it as an attack.

How does Heavy Weather force recognition? It's a subliminal message - something that you're really not meant to become aware of or recognise in the first place

What's to say Ihiko doesn't just think of it as some low grade hypnotherapy and ignore it?

Hell, it's not like it's even visible as an attack. He probably wouldn't recognise it as such to begin with.
 
If it doesn't force recognition, then Iihiko should be fine, as he resists Mind Manipulation and Power Nullification through not recognizing things.

Because, the specific explanation in the manga says that it works by forcing you to recognize you are a snail. As it says, people can age faster and slower depending on what they believe, so the light shouts into your mind "You are a snail!" Because of that, your mind is forced to believe that you are a snail, so your body makes you a snail.

All he would see are rainbows, and people don't need to know how the ability works.

His mind recognizes that it is a snail, which is basically what styles do anyway. They work because you understand language, and the words and feelings of the style user.

It does force recognition on a subconscious level. Heavy Weather does not turn you into a snail, it shouts into the deepest reaches of your mind that you are a snail. Because of this, you believe that you are a snail. Because you believe on such a deep level that you are a snail, you become a snail.

Have we had official translators on the wiki confirm that this is an accurate translation? For something like this it's probably important to get it re-translated.
 
The team from Jojo's colored adventure is a reliable team, that we have not encountered issue with before, and I believe we have rechecked their stuff and it is fine. It also isn't like a single sentence of something, its a whole paragraph, and on more than one occasion. Unless the author was specifically trying to missinform, I do not think there would be a way to mistranslate to that degree

Fire (and possibly Pachi?) voted for Iihiko.

That doesnt mean Iihiko will pay any heed to that. Iihiko has to recognize it as an attack. He isnt blind, or deaf. If you punch him he will see you punching him, but it doesnt mean he thinks of it as an attack and the punch simply bounces back.
 
And since Weather works on a subconscious level its even less likely that it'd work on him. Because Iihiko wouldnt even be aware of the attack. Simple as that.

The styles gave him something to interpret as an attack. If any style would have worked on him just fine the nurse girl could have transformed him into a baby from the get go.

Apparently Heavy Weather is specifically explained as working by making those affected recognize it.
