Unpopular Opinions and (Friendly) Rant thread

If I remember well, when I was in my early teens, I had a drawing of an OC as a PFP. I think I also had a flag of Puerto Rico back then.

Then I started watching anime and I started using anime PFPs, I became corrupted.

This is my fave pfp. It was made for me by an artist after I won their writing contest. It's a character I was using for a while, a combo of Giorno and Wigglytuff. Still slaps.

DBZ was good until Buu saga then it got mid
Buu Saga was the best part. I hate how much of Z was "oh, I'm so serious let's not feel anything and grunt for long periods of time," and then Buu popped in, killed the king of all demons, shrugged off Vegeta's suicide, flirted with some random lady, killed everyone, and did a flip.

Anyways me and my dad made lasagna today. We made some mistakes but it was very tasty in the end.

People who say that Gege sucks Sukuna's balls is because they don't know how much Kubo sucks Aizen's balls

After some time while reading the manga Aizen was really becoming boring
He was literally just a very powerful door

3. JoJo should've been ended after Part 3. The later parts especially 5 and 6 are unnecessary, if you remove Part 5 between 4 and 6 then nothing would've changed really.
Genuinely curious what you mean by "unnecessary" because every JoJo part, even the later arcs which reference previous events, are all self-contained stories. JoJo could've ended after Part 1.

Ngl I don't get the people who make fun of powerscaling calcs. They literally go with two things, statements and eyeing it.
We will have precise comparison meanwhile one guy pulverizes a mountain and another shatters it and one of those people will go "mmmm looks like mountain level". I genuinely dislike this approach.

My biggest complaint with Dragonball is its power system. Ki is so uninteresting, despite being what (almost) everyone in the series fights with.
I'm of the opinion that there's only two ways to make a power system work right. One's giving it a good blend of mechanics and limits, the other's just making the characters use it in unique situations. I think the reason ki is so lame is the anime's fault, as it made characters use ki in the most bland, boring way imaginable compared to the manga. I really wish they'd stop making every character under the sun spam ki barrage, or at least make the technique actually work.

I watched the Knuckles miniseries out of curiosity and it's actually pretty solid
Has some genuinely funny moments and great action
Most of the characters are likeable and enjoyable too

Man, I hate it when I stream on Discord and then someone else comes into the voice chat to talk about something else and stream something else, essentially stream sniping me. Pretty scummy, especially when they start talking over me, interrupting and ignoring me.

I think Caillou is the perfect representation of the average grassless internet user
Eh, even though that show is bad enough, he touches grass a lot despite his behavior as I recall.

This is a crack theory but let's a go.
What if Mario is the past of the Kirbyverse?

In Kirby lore we have several artefacts made by the so called ancients. These artifacts were many in number but one of them was the Star Rod, something that also exists in the Paper Mario series and looks almost the same

We also have the whole overall theme with stars being powerful and ect.
We know that the inhabitants of dreamland were at one point ancients and what we have now is whatever's left of ancient civilization.
We also know that Kirby Earth is dead and turned into a dark cold husk of itself. Earth exists in the marioverse.
Additionally there are chaos entities that endanger universes in both worlds and in both worlds dreams are very important. Both verses have beings who tried corrputing dreams as well.
So what if in the end Kirby is the far future of the Marioverse? A future where at some point Mario and anyone related died of old age and the earth progressed til a technological apocalypse and the people of earth and other planets and universes became the ancients only to collapse under the constant pressure of horrid deities destroying everything?

Anyways this was just a theory. A crack theory. Thanks for smoking.

Anyways hilariously enough there's more evidence to suggest that Mario, Kirby and Metroid share a verse than Kirby being the far future of the Marioverse.

Soooo... a rant here, pretty long, sorry to subject you guys to my nonsense. If you decide to read, no worries no AVGN style anger here or anything, just complaints

Dunno if an opinion, just me whinning about something, but I really dislike how writters tend to abuse tragic pasts or tragedy in writting as some sort of replacement for proper development or personality for characters and how cheaply and manipulatively they handle it. For example... have this bland non-entity of a character? Give him a tragic past and boom, now they are "complex and layered". Have this gargantuan unlikeable douchebag or irredeemable villain? Slap a sappy sobstory and now the audience is forced to like them.

In general, tragedy and drama are also commonly incredibly shallow when used in the present of the story as well. Traumatize a character with some cartoonishly over the top misery in a bid for pity points and then what? An insipid friendship speech, some generic bullcrap about "tomorrow will be a new day, just smile and face the future with your head up", "something something will to live something follow your heart something protect your friends something embrace your dreams yadda yadda". All this grandiose sounding rubbish is like telling a sick person to "just get better", honestly. It gets especially eye-roll worthy with characters that are subjected to ridiculous amounts of trauma and they just shrug it off. That's not a strong willed badass, that's a one dimensional caricature, that is as fun to watch as an overpowered hero who has the story constantly fed them weaklings to slap aside to show off.

But what really bothers me, and what led to this rant, is that so many people actually buy all that. They want over the top misery, they think it automatically makes writting good, and what's worse, other alternatives in writting automatically are taken as bad. A character who is in a poor financial situation, struggles with two jobs and has a strained relationship with a friend is not struggling, oh no, he has it easy, he requires to have at least one dead parent, be eating dirt and fight with drug addiction. A character is legitimately a selfish and self centered person? Wait where is the part where their family abandoned them in the streets giving a tragic excuse for their actions?

I am not talking about dark stuff happening for dark humor or parody porpuses, obviously, since the aim there is completely different.

Now, tragedy, misery and hardship can and have been done well many times, but it's not as common as one would think. You know, hard events in a character's life that actually develop or explain how the character turned out, for better or worse, and influence them and their decisions, or you know actually caused damage that the character has to deal even in the present. Not want to be a shill, but this is why I hold Cloud Strife from the original FFVII in such high regard, before the other VII entries destroyed his character or other characters that have legitimate unappealing flaws that aren't excused with stock drama. Especially how much of fiction nowadays seems to be written to pander to audiences or for the author to live whatever wet dream they have.

Well, that's that. Again, sorry for that embarassing display.

You know what really grinds my gears? People like you who have the need to apologize for their honest opinions and honest behavior. Go balls out bro, show people how you feel, have some respect for your own feelings. Don't regret having an opinion and don't apologize. An honest opinion is honest because it is your truth. You shouldn't apologize for what you think, you should fight for it. Whether it is the best thing since sliced bread or the most dogshit take humanity has seen, if you truly believe in it, protect it and be proud of it until you can't anymore.

You didn't even mention Kirby turning into a golden statue of Mario with the Stone ability in Super Star and it's remake... And to think I almost liked your comment.

question, what characters you think would fit this?

The thing is that would only fit in the mario-metroid-kirby shared universe theory. There's tons of objects that are in Kirby that are from different games. Cave Offensive has screw attack and other items which are from other games. Mario watches kirby play megaton punch. You help Samus in one of the Kirby Adventure 3 levels. What my crack theory was doing was ignoring crossovers and references and using evidence that could stick.
