I recently discovered an Earthbound ROM hack entitled "Mother Tensei," which seems to be greatly inspired by the Megami Tensei franchise, with this trailer describing the project as "a combination of EarthBound and Shin Megami Tensei elements, both in gameplay and story." I suspected there was some overlap between fandoms, but as someone whose favorite games growing up were Earthbound and Mother 3, and whose favorite franchise now is Megami Tensei, I was pleasantly surprised to have discovered this. I will be playing it, over the next few days, and I may follow up this post with another, if there's enough worth discussing.
