Some Misconceptions About Death of the Endless

Hi.

I see there are some misconceptions here, about Death of the Endless' power and influence(mostly related to beings like Lucifer and above). For example, I read here in this page and forum, that she can claim Lucifer Morningstar, because of what he said to Silk Man in the Void:

Silk Man: I have cheated the death of all things

Lucifer: I'm sure Death has her own opinion about transaction, postponing the inevitable isn't cheating just stretching the rules a little.

But the page above says NOTHING about Lucifer himself, only about her influence on OTHER beings. In fact, saying that Death has a claim on him, is an outright lie:

As you can see in the page above, Lucifer says she has no claim over him, and she agrees.

Another misconception, is that Death is above or equal to Lucifer in power. But we see in the comic, that he CAN destroy her if he wants, and she knows it:

Oh, and Death HAS a weakness! She can't spill the blood of family, or else she will no longer be protected(as the personification of Death) from other personifications. Dream/Morpheus CHOSE to die, something completely different. He basically killed himself.

I don't know if these things change anything in her tier level, honestly, but I thought they were important to note. ;-)

No, it has been said multiple times that Death is exempted from the rules the other Endless follows. Thats the reason why nothing happened to Death when she killed Dream. Its not because its a consentual, it doesnt matter, why do you think Dream was chased by the Furies in the first place? Because he decided to grant Orpheus request (That Dream kill him). Its consentual, just like what Death did to Dream. The difference between the two is that Death is not bound by the rules the Endless follows as stated multiple times.

What people seems to forget is that in this scene Lucifer is not dead yet. Why would Deatb claim him when he's not dead. Lucifer is just in a near death condition here. Thats why Death said hes "stuck in the bus stop until the next miracle"

Death has no claim on him, YET, because he's still not dead. Death even said that herself

https://2.bp.blogspot.com/N-uwd7z5k...ydy1ZKgaVFaB_85kixvP7yVgfnTG3OOmeyTgWVq62F=s0

Also, pay attention to the narrative boxes above

"From birth to death. How small our circuits are.How unerringly we find the path that will unmake us.Even we who call ourselves immortal"

"I know, I know, not quite time, YET"

" I mean you are so close to the EDGE.." https://2.bp.blogspot.com/Mzd6OtwEc...pRVTcc2XZmjxnphWEXwe1zuWpdmx-8jLc2ea-wjf79=s0

And Death knows this, she's not there to claim Lucifer, in fact, it seems that Death knows how that entire scenario will play out.

Death is not there to claim Lucifer YET. She's just there to talk to him. Death knows he cant claim Luci yet because its not yet his time, as she said herself. Death knows Lucifer will survive this. As she said to Luci that he is stuck there until the next miracle arrives (referring to Elaine Belloc)

I think that Sandman31 makes sense. Do any of our character profiles need to be updated to better clarify this?

They do not. The points Sandman was clarifying are already in place. FaMaGo was just proposing revisions, and I agree with the decision to reject them.

Okay. Thank you. I will close this thread then.
