I know that the Flow Method has been a thing for like, nearly 10 years now, but it really feels like Tappei was writing the end of Arc 7 and just remembered it existed because he hasn't shut up about it since! I like it!!

Roswaal dodges Jiwald

A beam of light had glanced toward, then through, the soldier’s neck in the blink of an eye. His head evaporated. She had done it again and again until six soldiers lay on the ground.

“Ah… Ahhh…” Carol, still unable to move, made a noise of astonishment at this slaughter. Even if they hadn’t been constrained, it had happened so fast it would have been almost impossible to evade. On a visceral level, she understood that if that finger happened to point at her, it would be the last thing she ever saw. Her carefully honed sword technique, the ideals she held so dear—none of it meant anything in the face of this monster.
...
“I told you,” she said. “I will kill you.”

“A shame.” Her words were dispassionate. And then her finger glowed.

As Carol watched, the beam of light shot straight at Roswaal. The beam of light flew at Roswaal almost faster than the eye could see. It moved so quickly that Carol could make no move to guard her mistress; somewhere inside she resigned herself to watching Roswaal explode. But her despair turned to amazement.

“…Well. Well…”

“Didn’t I tell you? I am the one who will kill you.”

Sphinx was clutching her abdomen, which had been hit. For the first time, she was breathing with pain. The source of the injury was Roswaal, who had dodged the beam of light and stepped in to deliver a punch.

Grimm blocks Al Jiwald

“Al Jiwald.” She intoned the magic for the ultimate form of Jiwald, her death ray.

The beam that had previously come only from the tip of her finger now burst from her entire palm. It was as if her hand was reaching out to annihilate everything in its path.

The destructive ray speared diagonally across the great hall, and death drew nearer by the instant. Even Roswaal would be hard-pressed to dodge it; she found herself hardly able to speak with astonishment.

Similarly silent was the young man who brought up his shield and met the beam head-on. Grimm threw himself between Roswaal and the beam of light an instant before it annihilated her.

“—”

He hadn’t been sure he would win or even survive. Until now, neither victory nor survival had influenced Grimm’s life as bad luck had, so what came of his blocking the light with his shield was also a gift of his “bad luck.”

“With a mere shield…”

This was not like stopping any normal attack. This was the light that had decimated the castle’s great hall and all but evaporated the royal guards who now lay dead in the corridor. It could pierce armor; it should certainly have been able to do the same to a shield.

Re:Zero Volume 32, Chapter 8, "Enemies on All Bastions"

Yorna reacts to Arakiya's light

The strike that should have caught Arakiya was bereft of a hit reaction, rather, the expected impact had been slightly off, instead producing a solid sound.

From how it appeared, the thick sole of Yorna’s upwards kick had collided with nothing other than the blade of the Yang Sword swung down by Priscilla. Their pincer attack had missed their very important opponent, they had rather astoundingly struck one another instead.

What was more surprising, was that the collision of both Yorna and Priscilla’s attacks had been inside Arakiya’s seemingly flickering body.

“It… passed through her?”

“How impudent.” Immediately after Yorna’s astonishment and Priscilla’s irritation spilled over simultaneously, Arakiya’s body, having seemingly taken in both attacks, glowed white as a counterattack was unleashed.
It was as if Arakiya’s whole body had exploded―― No, it had, in fact, exploded.

Arakiya’s body scattered into rays of white light, dispersing with terrifying force spread in every direction like buckshot, hitting Yorna and Priscilla like a fountain of water.

“Kuh…!” In an instant, Yorna gathered the fine pieces of dirt that had been whirled up by the previous gale, and clad herself and Priscilla in a cloud of dust. Rather than “cladding” them in clothing that stuck to the body, it was a delicate technique that circulated around one’s figure at high speed to repel attacks. If Arakiya’s buckshot merely held the firepower one would discern at first glance, this would have reduced its power just enough. However――

“――Hk!!” Easily penetrating the cloak of earth wrapped around them, Arakiya’s rays pierced Yorna and Priscilla. Blown away by the impact, Yorna dropped to the ground while screaming in agony. With all her strength, she instantly burrowed her stretched out feet in the ground to avoid an unsightly fall.

Re:Zero Volume 34, Chapter 3, "Deciding to Love"

Combining Mutual Soul Marriage, Yorna launches Priscilla at a speed that could be mistaken for light

The moment her lips moved, Yorna, moving from behind Prisca, unleashed a ferocious kick.

Prisca, who aligned her feet with the sole of the unleashed kick, converted the momentum of the kick into her own forward motion, launching herself and approaching Arakiya with a speed that could be mistaken for light.

Re:Zero Volume 36, Chapter 6, "I Have Business With Those Tears"

Cecilus dodges flashes of light

Arakiya’s entire body radiated white light in the air, and a moment later, a flash of light scorched the spot where Cecilus was running.

The unleashed spear of light pierced into the magma, and a beat later, everything within a radius of a few meters around it had compressed, and was immediately blown asunder. The imploded magma and the destructive force that had caused said implosion then spread out to the surrounding area, scattering it over a radius nearly ten times the size of the initial compressed space.

Rendered speechless, albeit he knew himself to be out of range, Al reflexively covered his head with his arm to protect it; with his vision covered he could still that though that single shot alone had been horrifyingly powerful, the bombardment still continued without cease.

One, two, three, four shots were fired in rapid succession, each shot reshaping the form of the Imperial Capital. Streets ceased to be streets, and land ceased to be land. They were fired one after another, pursuing Cecilus as he ran on the ground, but even he――

"Ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta――!!!" Splatters of the scorching heat known as magma were scattered about, the gaze of the blinks of destruction known as flashing light were evaded, and Cecilus broke through the white dust in a mad dash through the space where death rained down incessantly.

This isn't the light-belt magic crystals:
Cecilus: "Come to think of it, you started off by sending light and fire flying and then swapped to pillars of stone and limbs of earth along the way. Are these jewels the next progression of that… they are truly quite elegant so I like it! How splendid oh how splendid, the feeling of climax is rising!"

Re:Zero Volume 37, Chapter 6, "Cecilus Segmunt"

Cecilus escapes a beam of light by kicking upwards

After being impressed, a colorless beam of light gradually ascended from directly below him―― suffering a direct hit would cancel out his evasion of the belts, and the degree of freedom he had in the air was overwhelmingly lower than what he had on the ground.

This was bad, bad bad bad bad; he got fired up.

――Expanding his imaginary field of vision once again, he carried out a gear change on the functions of his body.

Sense of color, maintain current status. Sense of hearing, maintain current status. Sense of pain and sense of touch, reactivate; hiding the pain that instantly boiled up behind a smile with teeth bared, he searched for the “key” amidst the sensation of a single second being divided up into one hundred parts.

With that, he could search for the “key” that would turn the script over to the next page.

"――There it is." Laying the nerves within his body bare, he engaged in the hyper-dimensional act of savagery that was exposing them to the wind, and as he ascended, Cecilus’s outstretched leg hit something.

It was neither a convenient wall nor building. What had been hit was, from the cityscape being destroyed as it was engulfed in the battle between Cecilus and the heroine, a fragment of the rubble that had been whirled up, a single grain of gravel.

That, he used as a foothold.

"Shwee." Using the exceedingly faint sensation that had struck the sole of his foot as a foothold, Cecilus’s body leapt through the air.

To avoid the rising achromatic destruction from catching up to him, Cecilus stepped again onto blown up splinters of wood and shattered fragments of window glass, and finally stepping onto a slightly larger cinder of ash, he escaped higher. Why was he able to do it? He could do it simply because he could, he would make all those who saw him believe so.

Disregarding various logical and general notions, Cecilus’s action of fleeing to the sky was an outrage against common sense. Those who witnessed it might have called it a miracle, but for Cecilus, this was only the beginning, nothing more than a handful of the miracles that arrived to color the world at various moments each and every day.

And thus, if he continued to cause these miracles――,

"Impatient reality will bare its fangs."

Cecilus escaped the beam of light thanks to his unreasonable ascension, and before right or wrong could come as a result from that escape, the reconstructed light belts ate into the colorless beam of light from within, and began to chase Cecilus through the sky.

Cecilus evades a maelstrom of Jiwalds while carrying Arakiya

Yielded in the air as if to surround the range of Cecilus’s sprint, were many beautiful mirrors fabricated with water―― the surfaces of those mirrors reflected the white rays of heat fired by the Witch, and a boisterous dance of light commenced.

From all directions, lethal luminescence was chaotically fired, targeting Cecilus.

"I-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-ten!"

Amidst the berserk tempest of light, Cecilus ran through it as if he were dancing. He inclined his body, leaned forward, stretched out his legs, lowered his posture, and occasionally stepped over the light with long strides.

And for the angles he could not evade, he would utilize the blade of the Dream Sword, and would cleave the water mirrors reflecting the light in twain. With the splashing sound of a flat stone skipping across the surface of water, he basked in the scattered droplets of the broken water mirrors, and cut his way through the storm――

Emilia can react to Jiwald on instinct, and block many Jiwalds

"Eh? Yes, that’s right. We need to quickly find Priscilla as well and take her back home or――"

"――Elimination: Required."

At that moment, towards the woman who had slightly tilted her head―― a white light shot from Sphinx’s finger, and with an “Eh”, Emilia deflected it obliquely using a mirror of ice she conjured on reflex.

If Emilia’s specialty had been the Earth attribute instead of the Fire attribute, the earthen or stone wall would have been pierced through in a single shot, and possibly resulted in a fatal injury. It was an attack brimming with murderous intent, to the extent that it would make one shudder. Nevertheless――,

"Jeez! What a reaaally abrupt start!"

The white light had not been released as a singular shot; rather, chasing after Emilia, as her silver hair danced, was a hot beam of light that sliced through the world, and with it the battle had begun. Her opponent looked exactly like Echidna, and also like Echidna, seemed to be good at magic.

But, the same was true of Emilia.

"If that’s what you want to do, then I’m going to give it my all too! After making sure you can’t move, I’m taking you to Subaru and the others!"

"I do not wish to meet them ever again. Hence, I shall take your life here, and ascertain the type of expression Pricilla Barielle would have."

"――! Do you know where Priscilla is?"

As she sliced away the attacks of light released from all directions with a sword of ice that shone like a mirror, Emilia’s amethyst eyes sparkled in response to Sphinx’s words.

.....

Emilia released a sharp exhale, strained her cheeks, and stood firm against the heat rays of light and the balls of light that came in from all directions, repelling all with her polished ice armaments.

In front of her, the replica of Echidna, Sphinx’s magic was all too astonishing, and the only way she withstood her difficult-to-deflect attacks was by blocking them with ice that shined like a mirror.

Transcendents can dodge a rain of light

Through the countless cracks formed throughout its body, it began to shine, and in the next moment, aiming in every direction with quite literally no blind spots, the rain of light―― nay, the undodgeable mist of light was unleashed.

If it was raindrops, then there was the Sword Saint, Blue Lightning, and Admirer who could evade it. But, if that were to become particles of mist, then even those transcendent beings would have trouble evading.

Read Golden Siblings and Frederica has to be the biggest fraud in this series. I genuinely think that Tappei was talking out of his ass when he said that she's as strong as Rem or Crusch and the story contradicts it enough that we should ignore it 💀

Frederica getting negged by a guy who can fight Post-Elsa Garfiel isn't really a contradiction imho. Even at this point, Garfiel is among the strongest in Lugunica, there's only 2 people in the Kingdom that can beat him in cqc

She's getting casually bodied by a guy who got his ass beat by nerfed Garfiel while in a situation that specifically suited his fighting style. Rem was ******* up the whale. Even amongst Ley's arsenal her magic is considered a high class technique. She left a scar on him. She also supposedly wouldn't lose immediately when up against Julius. And that's Julius. Crusch beat Julius in a sword duel once too and she also dealt some pretty hefty damage to the whale. She's literally renowned for her combat abilities to the extent that her magic is a known thing that is spoken about in rumors. She drove the great rabbit back for Pete's sake.

Meanwhile Frederica couldn't even track Elsa's movements way back when and here she is getting bodied by a guy significantly weaker than Garf to the extent that there's literally no difference between her and an average Joe. There are also a handful of quotes that describe her as only "slightly above average" in some shape or form. She just doesn't have anything to back her supposed strength up.

Also saying that there are only a couple people who can beat Garf is cqc is probably wrong. Tappei even said in a recent qna that he hasn't written about most of the strongest in Lugunica like he has Vollachia 💀

Beast-Change diff it seems (Hayden specifically knocked her out before she could)

Q: Who is Frederica stronger than and weaker than?

A: She's about the same as Rem. In other words, not that strong.

Q: Around how high is her actual fighting strength?

A: If we're talking about fighting strength, about the same as Rem.

Q: If Frederica and Emilia were to arm-wrestle, who would win?

A: They're pretty evenly matched... if she beast-changed, then Frederica, if not then Emilia.

Q: In terms of their fighting skill, which of Frederica and Garfiel is stronger?

A: Overwhelmingly Garf. A serious Frederica is about the same as Rem.

Q: Between Fredrica and Ram, which is stronger?

A: If they went at it without warning, Frederica would win. If you give them time to make various preparations in advance, Ram would come up with strategies for this and that, and she could turn it into a good fight. I don't feel like asking 'which is stronger' is that helpful.

Q: On the battlefield, besides using beast-change, can Frederica nee-sama use magic to attack as well?

A: Frederica hasn't developed the magical side of things, so she can't launch magic attacks. Her affinity is wind magic, but she's no match for Ram, so she's completely devoted to physical combat. When she's beast-changed into the female leopard state, most opponents are no match for her.

Q: Out of the Re: Zero characters currently appearing, please tell me which one Frederica would just barely defeat in a serious fight.

A: That would be Rem.

Q: If someone were to attempt to abduct Frederica, how might she react?

A: I think perhaps she'd beast-change, and leave the abductor behind in moments.

Q: Between Rem and Frederica, which is stronger?

A: It's a pairing where, depending on the situation, it wouldn't be odd for either of them to win.

Beast-Change diff it seems (Hayden specifically knocked her out before she could)
You may have a point about this to be fair. Normally I think of beast transformations as only a slight buff like with Garf and Todd but that's because they're only using partial transformations and Frederica actually has control over her full transformation. I guess from now on I'm just gonna assume she is strong with her full transformation but pretty weak without it.

Hayden WILL appear in Arc 9 (I so declare it)
Shadow has been ranting about how this will happen forever. I can't believe after reading Golden Siblings I agree with him.
The star that Cecilus cut was smaller than I expected, looks around Tier 7 at best. Sad! But it still looks sick. Something to add to his gallery.
This illustration is just ass cause if you remember it's supposed to be big enough to hit the silver dragons all over the sky.

In Loving The Days Gone By she dropped multiple stars.

That said, assuming a radius of 250m to hit a weyr of a hundred 10-metre Dragons and using average values, it's around 50 gigatons of TNT.

See I thought that was the case too but Garcar insisted it wasn't and then I checked and he was right. It was described as stardust which I think made us all assume that it was multiple projectiles but after arc 8 we know that's not the case. It even states that the original echidna didn't like to pull down more than one star a day.

I know that sometimes Japanese can be vague with plurals, maybe it was just assumed to be stars then?
Echidna: “——Should there be any Dragons that survive through those falling stars, I shall listen once again.”

The sky which Dragons reigned, from which far, far higher above, descending from beyond was an onslaught of stardust.

Assailing upon the weyr of Dragons with velocity and might that rendered any defence or evasion impossible, within the destruction kindled by stars they were scorched. Scorched. Scorched.

Roswaal: “At any rate, Teacher was magnificent in your story earlier. Who would’ve thought she would drop stars and repel the weyr of Dragons…… it means even the skies abide by Teacher’s word.”

Anyway, 250m radius is kind of a minimum, 10 metres is the smallest of Dragons and they could easily be very spread out instead of packed closely in flight.

Yae turning out to have had sauce this whole time feeds into my "Al is unscalable" meta. What do you mean she was a "genius shinobi" who "was to succeed Olbart as Head of the Shinobi".

I was just talking about this a while ago and I just think she can easily have been a prodigy because of her smarts. I mean seriously she's easily one of the smartest characters in the series and we didn't even see that much of her. Also, even with her lackluster strength she still managed to kill Priscilla. That's impressive. Shinobi are assassin's rather that purely fighters and a genius is exactly who you want to lead the group rather than someone who is simply strong like Shasuke and Raizo and nothing more.

I other words, she's much like Chisha.

I really don't buy her actually being that strong after her showings in PPZ. Especially with her kunai not even piercing through a board of wood. Originally I would have pegged her to be somewhere around the level of Gaston or the Shudrak and I still stand by that.

Valgren level....
Clearly Valgren was weakened that time... yes, that's what happened. Tappei isn't insane. He can't be insane. It's impossible...

To be clear, Yae doesn't even seem close to as Physically strong as them but Shinobi aren't generally that physically strong. They usually fight using their tricks.

crazy how subaru just has a casual 9-B feat (9-C at worst) in literally episode 1 of the anime and i never knew because SOMEONE (zab) told me not to watch the anime
subaru now only punches ~20 KJ weaker than Patrasche's KE (which will almost never apply because the full KE would only be transferred if Patrasche crashed into a wall with the person or they stopped her charge)

what do you guys think is the likelihood that the star in question is a neutron star (since they are small af due to their massive density)

All that remained was to destroy the Vollachian Empire in order to drive Priscilla into despair. In order to do so, creating a limitless number of Sphinxes and then having them drop a meteor shower to the ground would prove sufficient.

But, Sphinx did not do that.

Exactly, she did NOT do that
Neutron star is the smallest form of star possible and they can be as small as a couple of kilometers too

It seemed pretty blatant to me that the stars in question were the actual stars in the sky of the ReZero world. I suspect we will get our answer when we learn more about them.

Waiting for an Undead Unluck-style explanation of what stars are. It seems weird that the cosmos exist in Re:Zero in the first place.

finally actually reading Sword Identity
the current 7-A calc just assumes 5% of the cloud's diameter was the split distance
but reading it now, along with the knowledge that the technique is apparently called "Divine Miracle of Empty Sky" as well as Reinhard's own cloud-split feat (albeit more explicit about the sun shining through w/ the blue sky) is treated similarly
i think full sky clearing is warranted, it ends up as like 6-C+ (82 GT) which is higher than what Ceci scales to rn lol
