One Piece: Gomu Gomu no Bajrang Gun reconsideration

Yeah, One Piece anime either downplays to the extreme with stuttery frames or wanks feats to the extremes with sakuga ridiculousness that completely changes what is happening in the scene.

Do you watch the One Piece anime?

Hell, even in the latest episode it turned this attack into a hyperbeam.
Luffy's PX5 dodging feat would make every FTL OP calc we have now look weak if we relied on the anime.

This shit

Was made into this (no one wants to touch that feat in the anime either even though "let's use anime more")

The anime still isn't credible in terms of "feats" or scaling. It should only be used for time frames, not artistic interpertations, that's ODA's job.

The way we all uniformly yet silently agreed to not use that feat is one of the few things I love about this fandom

It's funny how we don't use that even though it's damn near beat for beat with the manga

Yet we use the Kaido vs Big Mom clash even though it actively stretches out the clash and doesn't have the same abrupt explosion that splits the sky effect the manga does when the sky splits, just a slow parting in the anime.

Shit is backwards as hell

LOL watch the Bajrang Gun in the anime be way higher, and then watch the people supporting the calc being removed suddenly back-tracking on using the anime scaling.

The only thing I'm using from the anime will be the timeframe. I'm not pixelscaling shit

If that fist comes down .1 second faster than our current calc assumes it'll get shot down for "anime blowing the feat out of proportions"
There's no winning in these

It's like with using the anime timeframe for Roger's Clash with Primebeard (which for some reason still hasn't been done yet).

Using anime timeframes is fine, as long as it only downgrades a calc.

Otherwise, the same people will screech at using anime timeframes.

It's not meant to. That attack was supposed to be its match. Kaido's own dragon body inside it is portrayed different sizes.
Kaido's body is shown not being much smaller than the flaming cloak consistently. So using the same logic that's used for Luffy's fist and the island, we can safely assume the cloak is indeed not much larger than his body based on the consistency between the two. And yet it still fit Luffy's entire fist in it's jaws. See the problem? We can't pick and choose which inconsistency to use and which inconsistency to rule out when EVERYTHING in these panels is inconsistent ( Luffy's fist included. ) in order to high-ball the feat. That's nothing short of fallacious.

The Horn isn't the size of King.
King is drawn bigger.

If we go by your logic, Ushi is the size of a town on Pica's arc. Zoro is the size of a two story house compared to Pica as well. And King (Who's 6 meters) is barely twice as big as Zoro.
Oda shows ridiculous sizes based on statements or initial portrayal, then makes them fit the action. I can grab you a dozen instances of that but it's pointless because you'd brush it off anyway.
Lol how do you know it's king that is drawn bigger and not the horn that is drawn smaller or bigger than it's supposed to be? Did Oda confided to you that he drawn king bigger?

Don't see how showing me how Oda is inconsistent with his measures help you after all all those calculations about sizes come from pixel scaling to each other, is Zoro drawn the size of a 2 store building or the store buildings that are drawn bigger than they actually are?

There are multiple ways to calc the size of onigashima including a clear scene with big mom that could easily have a direct result that is not king's size but it's far from the 3km width used in this calcs. There are multiple ways that have less probability of mistake but for some reason the people that made this calc decided that the best way is to pixel scale 4 to 5 scans. What do you think has a bigger margem of error scan 1 or 2 manga frames or 4 to 5 different frames? Coming from the same wiki that says calc stacking is not permitted because the margin of error in using 2 different calcs is too big but somehow believes "calc stacking" 4 to 5 different "calcs" is fine.

Because Oda does it a lot. He draws smaller things bigger for the reader to know they're location. It's always the close up shots that show you the true scale, whereas the further ones are more or less over simplified for the audience.
I know because he did it in every other arc too. That's literally the part you're ignoring. HE CONSISTENTLY DOES THIS OVER AND OVER AGAIN BECAUSE IT'S HIS ART STYLE

He does that on specific ocasions where you can actually see that is a sort of map and uses some way to represent like when he made a structural map of onigashima to show exacly where they were but during the rest of the times that doesnt apply also the scans used to scale things in this calc are from further away to show onigashima island entirely not a close up.

No. A g a i n
He did it with zoro vs pica
ushi on pica's arm
Non-giants standing near giants
Any non-standard height character that should logically have others at heel height being at most twice as big on panel
Kaido's dragon body being comparable to onigashima from afar, then smaller than a hill when up close, then when super up close fitting comfortably in the live floor's top half, which ya'll ignore for convenience lmao. He deadass fit his whole dragon body in the live floor and barely took up half the space.
Luffy's size compared to Surume changes a lot when from afar vs when up close.
Luffy between two buildings going from being a floor's height to being smaller than windows during WATER7
Zuensha being 20KM tall yet ships being visible near it when we get further shots.

There's so many damn times where Oda draws smaller things FAR bigger from a distance for the sake of showing the location of things, but the up close shots show entirely different heights. It's not inconsistencies, it's his artistic choice. King is purposefully drawn bigger so we see him. Zoro's purposefully drawn bigger vs pica so we see him. Etc, etc..
The two sizes that matter are Onigashima and Bajrang gun, those are the two things that are used for comparability, so either stick to those one's inconsistencies or it's pointless because the rest of the argument is "why does Oda draw like this"

Other mangakas do it too btw. But for the sake of not bringing other verses even if it's for example I'll refrain.

This art is why one piece sucks. Reject crappy art and embrace Goated Bleach and Naruto art.
Mf Bleach and Naruto do it too.
Kenpachi's size changed a lot vs Gerard and Sasuke's susano'o being visible next to what should be country sized rocks, The tailed beasts have like 4 different size depictions too. etc.. Ya'll just deadass choose to pick on what you wanna pick on.

Those were like prime examples before I chose not to bring them up.

Pretty sure that there were multiple calcs about Shinjuu's size that were rejected because of scaling problems despite using earth's circunference to calc Juubi's size

And Naruto's calc was rejected but One Piece should be accepted despite both having the same problem? Does that seem fair to you?
It was rejected for the exact same reason you're trying to apply on OP. The calc was of a far view (using the circumference of the mf planet) when other ones depicted different sizes.
One Piece's accepted size uses the closest view of both the island and the fist. It's entirely fair.

Frankly, I think this thread was created prematurely. If the OP wants the calc removed, then there had to be more analytical evidence provided than just a collection of panels. Additional pixelscaling needed to be done.

@Thicc18 Would it be okay if we closed the thread for now and revisited the topic later on after other revisions have been wrapped up first?

Sure. We can temporarily close this thread.

Agreed.

For the moment, this CRT changes nothing in the verse itself.
