Final Fantasy discussion thread III: Riding the Eternal Wind

To be fair, you can see they were trying many new things. I personally find the Junction system and the Guardian Forces to be pretty neat and really fun once you get to it. Though the Drawing System can get a bit tedious at moments.

The big screwup is the Triple Triad rewards and the Quetzacoatl's Card Mod ability. You can get many good cards too early and turn them into good materials which in turn become powerful spells. But that's not a problem in the Junction itself. It could have been solved if you can get only weak cards at the beginning or so.

I summon Tonberry King in attack mode!

Bahamut, OBLITERATE!

Wait, wrong card game.

So I was reading final fantasy 15 dawn of the future which is Canon and turns out Bahamut is actually noctis or just looks like him to the smallest of details lol

Alrighto! In more FFVII Remake news:

A good playthrough of the Demon: here

And Maximillian Dood's analysis on TGS's news here and here.

So what's new?

  • They added Classic Mode, where your characters move around automatically and passively around the battlefield as your ATB fills up and you use commands, effectively emulating the original battle system.
  • While there aren't many details revealed, it was confirmed that Materia growth is implemented.
  • The menu was revealed, but it still has many options concealed.
  • Cloud is a douchebag ^_^
  • The battles now play a remix of the stage you're in, much like Kingdom Hearts, while an orchestrated version of original battle theme plays during specific fights like the Aps fight seen.
  • Each character can only summon once per fight, Summons fight like a fourth guest party member. More interestingly, you can use your own ATB gauges to command them to use special moves, kinda like Yuna did in X or a Pokemon. They have a timer for how long they will be active in the field, when that timer runs out they will use their trademark move before leaving (Hellfire for Ifrit, Diamond Dust for Shiva, etc), like in Dissidia NT.
  • Enemies have weak spots where you can inflict more damage or stagger. Characters have different moves that may deal more stagger or damage respectively.
  • Cloud is a douchebag. ^_^
  • Treasure chests are still on the map, but you can find small things like Mako bits to restore small amounts of MP by breaking stuff around.
  • Encounters don't respawn within the same area, if you beat an enemy it's gone while you remain there.
  • Characters have pretty distinctive fighting styles this time around. Cloud is well balanced with speed and power, while Tifa is very quick and combo heavy, Barret is a gunner and Aerith also is a full fledged spellcaster now that fights using energy shots at the opponent as she dances around, but can't fight well in close quarters. She also has more supporting abilities outside her limit breaks.

Pretty sure when I get around to play XV this will turn the narrative upside down >_>;

>Cloud is a douchebag. ^_^

Who would have guessed.

I wonder if the part where they says "he resemble Zack" will be removed cuz god Cloud and Zack are nothing alike.

To be fair, and in a bit of defense of the original game, Zack originally did project the image of jerk with a good heart. It was in Crisis Core that it was decided that Zack and Cloud would be complete opposites and hence Zack became such a nice and awesome guy (and they retconned the bit of Cloud emulating Zack to Cloud posing as his own image of what a SOLDIER was like while using Zack's memories as a jumping stone).

Perhaps they can tone it down in a way, mention that some of Cloud's demeanor feels familiar, or that the resemblance is more noticeable when Cloud's dorkier side comes out (because end of game Cloud is a pretty sweet and caring guy, with a rather snarky and optimistic vibe).

Wait what? How is that? I guess this means he would get limited Pocket Reality Manipulation as Bahamut

The original game says that Zack was a ladies man but when I played Crisis Core dude only had eyes for Aeirth despite having a huge fan-club. IIRC the Dissdia mobile game went out of it way to say Cloud and Zack are the polar opposite

@Bware: And Matter Manipulation and Durability Negation.

@Zero: In a DMW and some dialogues with NPCs Zack will flirt with some girls, but that's it.

@Pachi: While I can see the thematic reason why he isn't playable, it would be cool to be able to control him in the Nibelheim flashback to slaughter all those monsters on the way to the reactor.

Matter Manipulation and Durability Negation is confirmed for all versions of Bahamut? Who would get Resistance to Matter Manipulation in that case?

Different summon incarnations share their basic properties, even if they change in power.

I guess anyone who was at the receiving end of a Mega Flare could make a case for resistance.

Can't speak for VIII yet, still catching up but assuming you fight Bahamut then I guess it's reasonable to argue a resistance for the Seed Team. But VII already includes Matter Manipulation, though from other sources, as only Cloud took a Megaflare.

Oh yes, I forgot entering the Lifestream itself can be considered a form of Matter Manipulation Resistance among other things. As for VIII I won't spoil anything else for you but yes you do fight Bahamut and aquire it as a GF and later on, their will an enemy who uses a stronger version of the attack.

So cool.

Sephiroth mode: you receive no damage. Masamune does over 9999+ damage in a swing.

Wait if Bahamut is Noctis then shouldn't that mean just a seperate tab on his profile already as Bahamut?

XV Novel Spoilers
Bahamut tries to use Teraflare to surface wipe so High 6-A still for XV still, but it could mean across the board instead of the 6-B calc, since the Astrals all tank it to save everyone.

They just look like perfect copies of each other also Bahamut should have clairvoyance and fate manipulation for obvious reasons

[[Other things if we do a profile for dragon boy.

His "final summoning" is Teraflare, and is strong enough to end all life on Eos. He can summon an army of small Bahamuts and levitate entire buildings. When he communicates with mortals he has pulled into his realm, Bahamut speaks to them telepathically.

Bahamut can bestow supernatural powers to mortals that may begin to run in their bloodline. He can revive the dead, having seemingly done this with the Glaives in Final Fantasy XV: Comrades (including the player character) so they would serve his ends.

He should have all the powers of Noctis since all of noctis powers and the abilities of the ring comes from him.

In The Dawn of the Future, Bahamut brings Lunafreya Nox Fleuret back to life ten years after her demise.

Illusion creation that can interact with the person so it affects all senses and also BFR.]]

So Matter Manipulation, Telekensis, Telepathy, Power Bestowal, Ressurection, and all of Noct's powers?

It's also worth mentioning that Noctis' himself is also missing a few minor but notable haxes nonetheless.

Yup and while we're at it, we should create profiles for both Luna and Aranea
True Luna fought ifrit and won also she has him as a summon and she can manipulate the power of the scourge like Ardyn plus Aranea best girl fought against Diamond weapons.

More than one also Luna went up against the sapphire weapon.

Aranea would be island level possibly higher since the Dimond weapon was going to destroy Galahad.

Also In the German localization and in Final Fantasy XV: Official Works, Ifrit is said to have wanted to destroy Eos itself along with humanity.

And Eos is the name of the planet not the continents which makes sense with ifrit ability to turn the world into ashes after Ifrit failed in the expanded universe Bahamut was going to blow up the planet (Eos) but was stopped by the others so that might make FFXV characters possibly planet level.

Bahamut wasn't going to blow up the planet with Teraflare. He loves that thing. He was gonna surface wipe it to get rid of the Starscourge. Again.

Her ice combines with Ifrit's flame to break his mask, allowing Noctis to deliver a fatal blow to Bahamut's physical form. At the same time, Ardyn destroys Bahamut's spiritual self in the heavenly dimension, ending the War God for good. Bahamut's death causes all magic to vanish from Eos, including the Astrals. Bahamut is also the source of all magic in the FFXV universe them and him dying took all of it away plus in order to kill Bahamut the body and soul must be destroyed so low Godly and other types of immortality.

Damn Square Enix for cancelling Season 2 of FFXV
Yup still salty about that.

Also a prof regis

" He wields a sword, spear and a shield along him and his retinue's quest to quell Ultros's wrath, and can even summon certain Astrals with colored crystals. However, the experience may have been embellished at parts, as the story is a bedtime tale Regis tells his son. Despite this, in Final Fantasy XV: Comrades Cid himself confirms he, Regis and the rest of Regis's friends did fight Ultros."

So prime Regis key would be good and he was stated to be on par and/or even superior to Somnus.

And yeah my bad Bahamut wasn't going to blow it up but Ifrit was about to do it so I guess Astrals can scale to him since it clearly says he was going to blow up Eos after all that happened in Solfheim

Such a shame XV had so many issues with its production. You could see all that potential that got stumped by issues beyond the game itself.
