Not every hates Spongebob, and even the people who don't care for the series are still sad about him. It's always sad when a legend dies, or if anyone dies for that matter.

Yes, in the last front page poll, the members of this wiki voted for Spongebob as their second favourite cartoon after Avatar TLA/Legend of Korra.

We at least usually try to rate the characters in an unbiased rational manner.
