DEATH BATTLE! Discussion Thread (All-time Death Battle Spoilers Alert)

Is it really that close? I always thought that Superboy Prime was just busted as hell with his narrative-altering punches and such. I know Sentry is pretty damn strong but I don't think he's shown powers on that kind of level.
He is put above any hero physicals, only World War Hulk managed to give him a tie and you saw where they put base Hulk

He beat molecule man in a matter manipulation battle which is an insane feat for him and has a statement he can go toe to toe with Galactus too

Those are some I remembered back in the days

Oh yeah, I've got no mind that Sentry is a damn powerhouse. It's more like when you have a battle with two herald-level characters, having one of them having the ability to afflict the plot of the story gives them an almost infinite power level advantage ala SimonKyle.

Granted I could be vastly overblowing SBPrime's narrative-shifting punches in the grand scheme of things, but even with Galactus-level powers the big bucket head wasn't reaching out of the story to change things in his favor. Oddly enough one of the few things I don't think the Power Cosmic can do, lol.

At least Prime isn't even an evil Superman anymore so I can be lessed annoyed at the main theme being "Evil Superman" since Sentry isn't an evil Superman. Match still sucks.

The Molecule Man thing isn’t that impressive cause Owen’s powers scale with his mental state and he was pretty unstable when he fought Sentry. As for the Galactus feat we have no idea how sated Galactus was in that fight.

I don’t even know if Sentry’s molecular manipulation would work here anyway given Superboy’s stonewalling of Monarch and TDK (who had Dr. Manhattan’s matter manipulation powers). Sentry’s matter manipulation only matters insofar as it allows him to reconstitute himself whenever he gets damaged.

The g1 blog was horrendous, oh my. Like, gigaton level Denji? The same guy that gets minced by building level attacks?

Yet again, DB typically avoids franchises going 0-3 these days, so I guess it’s not impossible for them to just completely rig it for Denji. My money is still on Yuji though.

Yuji vs Denji looks pretty neat for 3-D tho the backgrounds are pretty bland.

I like the return of Sprite for SBP vs Sentry ig.... Ugh.

Lowkey this kind of feels like a subtle Thor vs Superman match since both Sentry and Thor scale to the two of them for some of their best showings. It's not a 1 to 1 comparison but it is gonna be pretty close.

bit sad innit, what was she 'criticized' about?
I think it has to do with the fact that, last month, Kei Urana gave her stance on overseas manga piracy. The TLDR of the argument was that, while she understands not everyone has easy access to manga or that it can be expensive, piracy devalues the work and effort mangakas put into their works and how people will stop looking for legitimate versions.

Obviously the stance on piracy is very complex and not everyone does it for similar reasons, but I can kind of understand where she's coming from. And she doesn't reject piracy outright, more so explaining why it can have a negative effect on creators.

Yeah that opinion was at least decent. Still, it is true that it is Japan who isn't giving people proper access or fair prices. The "i'd rather never become popular than have my manga get pirated" stance some have there is insane, whoever continues supporting Japanese exceptionalism will end up getting picked off by society's natural selection.

I want to point out that just last month we had people saying they missed Capeshit matchups but now we got people complaining about them again but I fear that I’d be engaging in the Goomba Fallacy.
There's a difference between wanting a Capeshit matchup and being served a match that is just bad.

Aside from the fact that it's main core idea is base don the incorrect assumption that Sentry is an "evil superman" both have way better, that are more thematic and work better for a fight.
Like Sentry is a really strong allegory while Prime is a full on meta character
Yeah it's really that honestly. Yes, they're both Superman copies but they're different genres of it.

That and I feel vibes wise, they don't mesh that well with each other.

Sentry doesn't really scale to that level, Hulk and Thor are massively above him, but he is still pretty strong, should still be below Skyfather level characters if I'm not wrong
