I get disliking it, but refusing to outright watch it? Like Dante vs Bayonetta is one of the best episodes on Death Battle, top 2 in terms of season premiers, I can't see why Bayonetta losing in what's ultimately a subjective outcome with how high the two get would make you refuse to watch it.

Pretty sure it’s this. That’s how I’ve felt about it for a while. Like I think for a lot of people they think Universal-low multi base Sonic cast has as many anti-feats/is as outliery as Universal-low multi Base Mario cast, and so it looks like bias either against Mario or for Sonic. Also we have like Demon Slayer higher on this wiki than many think, Multi Solar system level Rayman is kind of an outlier too, there are probably a bunch of examples. When offsite people that probably scale Mario higher than us see how we treat anti feats and outliers super critically for Mario, but are more lax with it for many other verses, people see it as either wank or downplay depending on which they agree with.

People just don't respect 1-A at all. They have zero issue with throwing the term around lazily when the entire premise is qualitative superiority. Which they probably don't even understand the implications of. The stricter 1-A standards are the better if you ask me, and imo no DC Herald can be justified as 1-A aside from some very specific moments usually involving 1-A+ forces amping them temporarily.
As a person who often uses Reddit primarily for r/DestinyTheGame, visiting the Death Battle subreddit during a Sonic vs Mario discussion genuinely makes me exasperated because of the constant negativity and agenda-pushing.
