Looking at how the low-end stuff they gave to Eggman for more dangerous opponent, its not impossible that they could not use most of the Emerald haxes & biocopy and time stop will matter less if they put Cell close to Metal in AP.

when Mario vs sonic 3 happens Mario fans are brining up crappy as a win con when I kinda don’t see it. I’ve played Mario oddesy and it looks like it only works if you’re weaker than Mario, being relative to him will let you resist it,

It’s limited based on size, not strength. They might make the argument that Sonic could resist it though via his interactions with Dark Gaia (although that’s not really ‘possession’ even if moreso corruption)
Sonic’s main weakness in this matchup has always been his lack of RPGs. The fact that the only one in the series (Dark Brotherhood) was ironically made non-canon because of Penders doesn’t help either.

Has Mario ever used infinite one ups in canon. I get that db is too fond of sonic but that would be plain unfair. You can make some pretty good arguments for sonic

Either way you can argue that sonic can counter a good chunk of Mario’s scaling. Golden Mario’s countered by ring time from frontiers and Theres a bunch of other stuff too like super sonic overwhelming Mario with time stop, damage transferral and power null, does Mario even resist time stop?. I know that the stop watch cancels it out but sonics powers are bust in while Mario actually has to pull out his stuff if we’re using the bowsegg argument.
Speaking of bowsegg I don’t see why eggmans item swapping being finite was a problem when kamel usually just buffs his allies instead of spamming smth like chance time.

Bottomless Gloves abuse is practically fanfiction tier argument but there is no indication that DB Team stopped using it after MvS2.
Hell, one of the arguments was that Gold Flower transmutation was huge wincon... except Sonic had Ring Time from Generations which is significantly superior because its a passive aura vs a dodgeable projectile. Tho ig funny RPG status immunity item says no-no to that.
The fact that MvS2 is still in DB's "Must watch" playlist says it all.

I mean he can possess Banzai Bills despite them being stronger than him and even larger too.
Since DB composites Mario with Paper stuff he does. In those games he can superguard (imagine general RPG ‘blocking everything except the most powerful stuff’ mechanics) enemies using time stop magic. He also has the Feeling Fine badge which does the same passively by removing status effects.
