So for the episode itself, its another case of 'good but could be a lot better'.
Choregraphy is uninspired for the most part, Ichigio gets 3 hits in the entire fight, the kill was pretty tame.
Like I already know the storyboards are going to be bland as all hell.
It felt mass produced almost, which is odd considering its Ichigo's return. There was definitely a bigger focus on Yusuke, which isn't automatically a bad thing but stomp fights usually suffer from this syndrome of letting the loser control the fight out of pity or to make it seem close.
The track is easily the standout here.

Death Battle just seems too high on itself sometimes. Like they literally make shirts with the 'cinema' meme and as a whole the crew has a terrible history of responding to criticism.
They usually have to shit their pants bad for the community to consider an episode worse than okay, which in turn allows a lot of mediocrity to slip through.
Like Hulkzilla had medicore fight and the community hailed it as peak.
And yeah, I'm sure Nem will bring up 'I wish X was done' or 'y could've been done better' in his reviews, but like that never seems to amount to any improve in the show or increased discourse in the fandom.

Like the episode is good but its not all that remarkable. Lani killed it, JYB deserved better lines, the music as I said was excellent, but it couldve used a lot more meat in the fight be it more actual fighting, or more emphasis on attacks.

I will say this, Brandon Yates is honestly improving more at his art than Death Battle is at theirs.
Brandon has continued to impress, and last season he put together a staggering line up of hits.

I will give DA the benefit of the doubt he's going to give his best. He will also have Moro and another animator helping him.
But I agree, this needs to be a step up from the clunk and plodding pace of Omnidock.

I know for a fact he bad no story board to follow for his Popeye vs Saitama section, and what he came up with was probably better than what the story boards could've.
I know I say this a lot, and I dont want to point fingers at one person because I truly dont know the process, but that in of itself is damping

Tbh No One really brought Solar System Cell cuz "Hyperbole and Flowery Language" in like 2013-14 (Goku vs Superman Era)
People used to dismiss it via "Cell was just drunk on power", "He was boasting to scare gohan off" iirc
DBS BoG did help Dragonball Scaling alot even to the point of being retroactive as everyone just kinda accepts Solar system level Cell rn

Yeah Sonic characters are a bad match for Dragon Ball characters choreography wise. Toriyama quite literally made Goku taller because he thought he was too small for the type of fighting he wanted.
Its fine for Sonic characters when they are against someone their own size, but still its not like Sonic is known for fight choreography in the same way Dragon Ball is, in fact most of its combat identity is quite literally just diet Dragon Ball.
I suspect we will get a lot of clashes in the sky or characters moving as blurs shots, basically the over used parts of flying brick fights.

Not sure for Garou, but I feel Soundwave doesn't really have any options I particularly like. Best I can think for him is Soundwave vs Octavia or Nonon but I kinda don't vibe with either much ngl.
