DEATH BATTLE! Discussion Thread (All-time Death Battle Spoilers Alert)

This one is due to them being independent and needing any money most likely, if they were backed up by someone, they wouldnt do these
More OK with that except for the fact that the fans paid for these new episodes through the Kickstarter. They definitely should have enough money to post out Q&A blogs for free they should be getting enough money from sponsorships YouTube ads and their own memberships, pay walling Q&A is just stupid.

I know is beating a dead horse, but I can't really Control my urge to talk about this.

DevilAr won fight creator of the year in the DB sub. The voting start yesterday, when all the drama Begin. Take a good guess how he won. (Not saying he is a bad animator, besides KraAsu, he others fights are not really that bad. But looking at the comments in the post of people who voted for him, It was mostly for pity. That's bad reasoning)

I know is bad talking about this again, But I really couldn't contain myself.

Reddit can’t keep hammering in the fake hugbox shit can they?

Reddit slandered this guy for like a whole year, then caves into voting him as the best fight creator acting like nothing happened before that
Shameless ***** behavior if i Was DA I be ******* disgusted lol at this attempt at ass kissing

Hang on, how common was DA this year? Was he most common animator this year? Or was it Luis?

Id rather they just be unrepentant assholes. At least they’d be honest at that point. Going “oh we are actually wholesome chungus!” when consequences arrive is even worse than just being an asshole and owning up to it.

I using the Wiki for Death Battle, DA did/helped:
Kratos VS Asura
Master Chief VS Doom Slayer
Hulk VS Godzilla
Ruby VS Maka

Luis did/helped:
Master Chief VS Doom Slayer (2D)
Wile E. Coyote VS Tom Cat
Hulk VS Godzilla
Ruby VS Maka
Ash VS Yugi

And David Fischer:
Master Chief VS Doom Slayer
Hulk VS Godzilla
Ruby VS Maka
Dante VS Clive
Ash VS Yugi

okay so I’ll take it to the extreme, if one character was killed fighting the other guy, like head smashed and all that, but the other guy just walked away with at best a bloody nose or a scar, would that still scale?
Yes, cuz they still harmed the character, if the one whom was killed got him wounded they still scale, may not be 1:1 prolly, but you scale if you wound someone

Well it was my guess, not sure if its 100% right, would have been the modt logical thing imo

KratosAsura ****** up another waiting period one year later, cant make this shit up lmao
It really should’ve been a sign that despite them putting Kratos vs Asura on two of the community voted episodes tournaments that it still lost both. I still personally think it was scummy of them to still do it even after that. If they really wanted to do it so badly then just do it, don’t waste a vote slot that could’ve gone to something else.

Makes it feel like they only included it so that they could use the votes as an excuse to do the episode. Especially since it came out before the ACTUAL WINNER.

Remember when the only walls online being firewalls? Now there's paywalls in various facets of life, other gratuitous examples I've seen:

*In Balan Wonderworld if you want to know the full backstory of the human characters and get additional world-building, you have to buy a novel on top of buying and playing the actual videogame.

*If you want to know why Wanda has gone full evil witch in Multiverse of Madness, well you need Disney+ subscription and watch WandaVision.

*In Fire Emblem Fates you essentially need to buy and play three separate games to understand the full context of the story plus buy paid DLC to understand certain plot elements and world-building, not even The Pokémon Company was this greedy (par for the course with Nintendo tho).

Ofc there are ways to circumvent the paywalls such as sailing the seven seas, leaks, just waiting, etc.

Asura's Wrath locking the true ending behind a paywall was seen as the exception not the rule at the time, now times have changed and not for the better in terms of abject greed, pardon my musings.
Just pirate that shit

Tbh I'm already forced to emulate several of my favourite games for various reasons (from stupidly expensive physical copies to having to homebrew due to bad official ports).

Also for some reason without a VPN multiple animes I like don't have the option to switch between sub or dub (with "certain" streaming services falsely advertising that both versions are available) and ofc the occasional audio not syncing too.

Like if there was a way to skip the corpo middle men and pay the animators directly I would tbh.

Not surprising at all, Mike Tyson was right yet again. It was shallow shame that caused such a response, which means it'll only happen again with another content creator in the future and again, just like clockwork on Reddit, now if the peeps that dunked on DA felt genuine gulit about their actions that's a different story with a different and more sincere response but it's Reddit so...

I can understand both sides. The community has a right to critique different aspects of a Deathbattle episode, especially since the community funded a multitude of them, but i do understand the DB operations side, some of y'all are too harsh and to nitpicking when it comes to some of these episode, I've noticed this going back years man and its only gotten worse, so I understand DA's breaking point.

It really feels like a good chunk of the community doesn't actually know the difference between constructive criticism and being an outright dick.

Which ratings do DB consistently states for the characters on the episodes?

Watching throughout the show, it is safe to comment that they say where the characters scale in regard to AP and Speed on almost every episode, do they consistently give such details for any other categories?

Speed for capshit. Hearld tiering they love justifying their MFTL to Immeasurable speeds to Thor lol (Who is currently Celestial tier as of now in DB)

Ain't that a problem with the Internet in general? Because of the fact that the internet provides people a sense of anonymity and lets them hide their faces, it basically lets anyone get away with being a dick because they can't be traced back to their comments they make on the internet.

But still, I share a similar opinion to that of Maximoff's: I do believe that some people have been pretty unreasonably harsh and genuinely dickheads to both DA and the DB team in general when they've been putting in unimaginable effort and hours into these episodes. But on the flip side, as Maximoff, I think it's very understandable that the fans would have a high amount of expectation for long requested episodes that were funded using their money which they generously donated to help out DB. And with the respect in the world towards Devil Artemis (who I think is a great animator, make no mistake), I genuinely think that his episodes this season were worst by a noticable margin, especially Kratos vs Asura which I consider to be the worst episode of the Kickstarter season by far.

So I absolutely do not agree with the harassment towards DA and no one deserves to experience that, but I also think the criticisms towards his episodes this season are very much fair.

Spiderman vs Ladybug could happen but its support isn'r as strong as it was before
Which version of Spiderman? Ladybug might win against some other versions of Spiderman like she is haxy a bit in base and exteremly haxy with guardian key

No one seems to like Spidey vs Ladybug lmao
I see that it lost it's popularity now but i'm interested about that Spider's precog wouldn't work perfectly against Ladybug because of her limited precog resistance and Supernatural luck

Beating a dead horse at this point but I just found out Ash fought Lugia and had his Pikachu and Lucario do a combo attack with Gohs Pokemon, and Lugia shrugged it off with basically no damage. This fight happened after Ash had already defeated Cynthia and Leon to get that fancy creation trio scaling lol.

Can we talk about Spider-man vs Ladybug again 😬
We should talk about a far better MU instead, like Sly vs Lupin which is 100% gonna happen next year it was revealed to me in a dream. Who am I kidding, there's a higher chance they bring Ganondorf back for a third time and have him fight Madara before they even consider Sly vs Lupin 😭

Sure but it feels weird that LB vs SM happend once in this wiki and that was like 6-7 years ago which is crazy

DB mentioned Lugia thing in blackbox. Tbf their antifeat usage is weird. Should be more common.

Dont think Ganondorf has good 3rd MU tho.

Did they? Huh. Yeah it's weird but I guess they went with the high end creation trio stuff ultimately because Yugi still scaled higher regardless so it wouldn't have made a difference if they went the full antifeat route or stuck with Palkia/Dialga scaling.

Although it makes me wonder why this wiki has... weird standards about legendary scaling putting it mildly.

Dont think Ganondorf has good 3rd MU tho.
His TOTK version specifically has a decent one with Madara (Well he's always had a decent MU with Madara but TOTK gave them a bit more connections), but it's not something that justifys him coming back a third time over finally getting someone outside the main trio in an episode. Or just, any other MU in general.

It was mentioned here:
Ash struggled against Dialga, Palkia, Mewtwo, & Lugia during Journeys. Cynthia's Garchomp had her Draco Meteor easily stopped by Palkia's Spacial Rend. Even with generous scaling, and favorable interpretations of Ultra Space, Yu-Gi-Oh!'s multiverse is infinite and contains dimensionally transcendent spaces like the Afterlife, Prana Realm, etc, surpassing Pokémon's cosmology.
They went with "even with that Yugi is better" route.

Hmmm not feeling GanondorfMadara. Havent seen that one requested much either.

Huh, I somehow never noticed Lugia specifically. I saw the rest of the black box but just skipped over the poor bird legend lol.

Yeah it's pretty much only ever been brought up on DBM, and frankly half the time it's brought up there it feels like it's just them wanting a win for Ganondorf due to the AP buff and Gloom hax he got in TOTK (Which like, I'm always fine with having an agenda but they could at least be honest about it). It's a decent enough MU, but it's not something that would justify being an actual episode.
