Branching evolutions are fun in games because you can pick and choose a wide variety of options, allowing you to have more options.

But its nice to know that non-Digi fans think this is a problem and want straight lines, r/Digimon in shambles lol

Ngl I wonder if time stranger helps alot with digimon scaling now? Since from what I played might be solid 1-C arguments
It both helps and makes things more complicated

Such as Parallelmon needing the combined power of two Omnimons, Aegiomon, and three Mega level Digimon to take down, all while being backed up by Alphamon
 
Like honestly, the fact that Borrel Dragon is both the ace monster of the rival in VRAINS and is also a very strong archetype competitively, i feel like Borrel Dragon vs Gundramon could have some conversation

I wish topological archetype got more love next to borrel but its paying for gumblar crimes
