DEATH BATTLE! Discussion Thread (All-time Death Battle Spoilers Alert)

Well, since this is a hobby its not THAT serious lol

But like, I sure would like to be as accurate as possible, but thats not happening. Many characters are allowed high ends because they like characters. Sometimes its also so hard to judge characters that we are just winging it and go by vibes. Unfortunate.
that's just how it is unfortunately. hell, we can even apply it to Deku (albeit a far lesser extent than Miles) because do you think Horikoshi meant for him to be able to countries or continents by splitting some clouds? probably not, and like many cloud-parting feats, it was probably included just because it looked cool. similarly, he recently stated that All Might's top speed is Mach 10 even though All Might is relativistic+ based on canon feats and comparisons. if we want pure accuracy, we'd have much stronger or weaker characters everywhere despite quantified feats and dozens of different ratings for some

Oh yeah, we absolutely should do that for Deku and All Might too. But we all already forgot about that, hell I forgot that statement lol

The tiering system has been revised so that beings without BDE can only have 1-A stats by proxy as literal plot armor (which would have to be sourced from 1-A range), and a lot of the profiles haven’t been revised due to this being a relatively new development (with the staff who made these changes being mostly off the wiki recently). Gamma Radiation is 1-A due to the magic page, and there’s no such thing as “1-A smurf hax without 1-A range” either. It currently isn’t consistent that Hulk would have “1-A physicals” without being able to correlate energy from 1-A ranges.
Hulk's case is different since he scales from Onslaught (who had Franklin and Nate Grey. both are also 1-A) and also he has the greatest connection to The One Below All.

The was even an issue of Immortal Hulk that Hulk evolved and destroy the Marvel Universe.

Although it was thought that One Below All was empowering him base on the fact that few managed to read letters at the back of the comicbook, it was discovered that One Below All was just piloting him but the power was from Hulk.

Immortal Hulk and this current Hulk comic is all just metaphysical, magic...blah blah blah about Hulk and Gamma.

The problem with narrative intent is that it's great when there's like 1 creator, if a story is a single person's vision. The problem is when throughout the multi-decade long history of certain capeshit characters they can have hundreds if not thousands of writers. This means there are countless chefs each with their own specific headcanons for what a character is. As a result, fairly regularly, someone intentionally writes something stupid and as a reader you have to accept that they choose to do that shit.
Like yes Peter and Miles being herald tier is stupid, but every once and a while Peter drops Firelord which even with a Venom amps is really really stupid. Ideally an editor would step in and stop this kind of stuff but let’s be real, those idiots are some of the most incompetent people in existence.
When there’s so many writers for one character and a percentage of it is fundamentally contradicting to other parts that you eventually just have to go “Duck it. Death of the author. The writer is a separate entity to their work. What’s there is there”.

Do you have any Xeno vs DC MUs?
Id vs Bizzaro Superman is one off the top of my head, and I think I had Krelian vs DC Morningstar at one point before David (Magi) and Karen Travers (Scarlet Nexus) happened.

Again, gonna have to do a sort of 'round-up' list of which series I've used. Stay tuned for that.

With Superman at least usually there is one author you can tell at the time is pulling the most weight and if other authors are more inconsistent you can rely on that one author to get the "intent" of the period

I really don't see how Light has a chance ageinst Lelouch, like, Lelouch vi Britannia isn't his real name so even if he socially engineers his way to figuring out he's Lelouch that wouldn't even work.
The fact that Zero is a Britannian will set off alarm bells, because why would a teenager attack his own country? Ligth will know there is something up and will try to do further research. Like, he can send Lelouch's photo to Mikami or Misa to use their shinigami eyes or contact the Britannian Empire to spill out any info they had on Zero. The last one is important since Villeta, Cornelia, and Suzaku know who Zero is. Lelouch will just kill off Villeta (since Diethard and Sayoko already know about their relationship with Ohgi) and Cornelia (since he has her hostage). The issue is Suzaku, but he is likely not to spill the info since R2 Suzaku, despite hating Lelouch still views him as a friend, and assuming this R2 Lelouch then Suzaku still thinks he got his memory wiped and is thus not Zero. The OSI only answers to Emperor Charles, so unless Ligth keeps him alive (unlikely since he is likely to kill the Royal Family in a Death Note X Code Geass world), then they won't share info as well.

Ligth does have one lead, tho: Zero's actions. Knowing Lelouch, he will 100% target the NPA chief to know the identities of the Kira Task Force members, aka his only lead against Kira. Mello did this in canon against Ligth, who will 100% warn the NPA to secure the chief, or even threaten Britannia to help him. While Lelouch should bypass this via Rolo, Sayoko, his Geass, and tech, reports of police forgetting their memories or being unconscious will set off alarm bells. Ligth will also be investigating Zero's past exploits like the Orange Incident or the 1st Black rebellion, which have sus stuff. I'm taking about the existence of "Orange" and Jeremiah reacting to it in live TV. By controlling Britannia (which he can do via threats like he did to the US in canon), he will know Orange is a lie and that Jeremiah's actions are unnatural. During the Black Rebellion, a bunch of section blocks were disabled, something only Britannians can enter. Ligth will begin to suspect Zero has some sort of power like him because of this.

After that, Ligth just protects the task force members via the police. Too bad Black Knigths can easily beat them. Ligth can try controlling the Black Knigths tho....like Kallen who knows who Lelouch is. Ligth can also threaten the Black knigths to force Zero to reveal his identity. So Ligth has 2 wincons against Lelouch.

Sorry for the yap, I just liked discussing stuff like this.

I forget, was Zero/Lelouch's ability to control minds ever publicly disclosed? Because all Light would need to do is realize that and try to evade a direct confrontation with Lelouch. This could backfire on Light the same way Lelouch took out Mao, faking the entire confrontation and then cornering Light and Geassing him

"Narrative intent"

Oh, NOW we should consider this? Also you would need to nerf capeshitters because aint no way "Outerversal" is narratively intended for them lmao
outerversal is a fanfic term for starters no author ever use that crap or even knows what it is so no they don't

sure comic are a mess with this stuff and for the most part you're not going to get a perfect way in dealing with this issue in the grand scheme of it given authors don't care about PL consistency well most don't to an extent.

however just going with it because it happened is also bad because you have to establish where x characters can really scale to just go with it otherwise you just get nonsense like with the video posted

We should just punish capeshit's inconsistencies and use lowends, unless highends truly outperform lowends in usage.

I will admit the authors of the recent Superman Infinite Frontier stuff do seem very blatantly intending to make him broken as ****

But you can usually tell. There's a certain ebb and flow of an author's works that lets you tell what the intended power level range is. It's not objective, it's just a gut feeling vibe, but from my experience this vibe usually is vindicated by the feats present or the lack thereof.

I think the idea that this should only apply to comics when so many mediums, especially games and anime, are more than guilty of it too is a bit funny. it feels like comic books are downright offensive to some of you lol

Sprites being ep 200 sure would be a choice.

Its probably Torrian ep 3D.

Unless they pull a GvS3 and do like surprise MickeyBugs and/or finish AshYugi.

Supes vs Goku and Galactus vs Unicron were 3D back to back, so after hulkzilla 3D by someone else isnt far fetched

Technically MilesDeku was 3D too.

But I rather meant, that certain Team worked on some eps for years. In theory, they could have worked on sth for ep 200 as well.

But because of RT history it might just be RubyMaka which outside of history is bit dumb tbh.

I still think Ruby vs Maka is 200 and not only could I see it being 3D but I'm also willing to believe that it's the Torrian episode. all of the RWBY episodes have been 3D so far and Torrian worked on Yang vs Tifa and the scrapped Sun vs Kim DBX so I wouldn't be surprised at all if he's the one helming Ruby vs Maka

He also worked on Weiss vs Mitsuru and Blake vs Mikasa, with the latter being his last work on Death Battle. I'm sure whatever Torrian ends up doing is gonna be peak, but I feel like it'd be a missed opportunity if Torrian isn't involved with RubyMaka.
