DEATH BATTLE! Discussion Thread (All-time Death Battle Spoilers Alert)

That's assuming Columbo meets Light in person. Light would not come face to face with him, he did not even meet Mello, and it was only until the end did he met Near. He only met L when he was still the underdog. Also, no one except the Kira task force knows Light is L, not even the literal NPA chief knew about this. The Kira task force made it seem L was still alive to avoid mass panic. Also, knowing Kira is Light is not enough; Columbo still needs to prove it before Light kills him. L, Mello, and Near knew Ligth's identity, but L lacked the proof, and Near barely won because of Mello's sacrifice and plan made Ligth expose his plan. This is just another L scenario, Columbo figures out Kira's identity but lacks the evidence to prove it, and dies.
This is a Death Battle scenario. The assumption is that they at least meet somewhat, because if you remove Death Battle Rules the sky's the limit. Like there might as well be no matchup if there is no physical meeting.

They will meet, but it would likely only be on the climax after they both set up their plans. But I doubt Ligth is ever gonna let Columbo close to him before that. But there is also a HUGE chance we might have a no-meeting battle here, here, Columbo simply sends police to capture Kira from afar, or Kira murders Columbo from his bedroom.

Just finished Godzilla vs Spider-Man (accidentally missed it's release), and it is a continuation of vs. Hulk. I'm sure you've seen Godzilla fused with the symbiote already, but interestingly the comic notes in the final fight that Godzilla's body has adapted, and visually the implication is that, after being struck by Shocker's gauntlets, Godzilla is able to incorporate those same energies which proved effective against the symbiote.

It's basically a running theme throughout this whole Godzilla vs series. He's absorbed the power cosmic, gamma radiation, the symbiote, sonic energy, the all-black. I'm pretty sure he's going to get his hands on the Infinity Gauntlet next.

DB hire this man NOW!

Really smooth, but I remember there being a different version of this from another animator that had this 'pits of hell is open for business' line in it. Kinda miss that.

But yeah this goes hard.

Paul Atreides vs Luke Skywalker

God Emperor of Dune vs God Emperor of Warhammer 40k
Paul vs Luke is super good...but damn does it make Omni-Man vs Homelander look like Kyle vs Simon in terms of debatability

Seriously, Paul is like...street tier or wall level? Maybe building level weapons or town level worms, with continental environmental destruction that doesn't scale to AP? Bro is cooked

As cool as pitting characters against each other in a fight to the death is, I'd like to see a death battle-esque series where instead of seeing who'd win in a fight it'd be who'd win in whatever suits the competing characters skillsets. Taking Sly vs Lupin for example it'd be nice to see an analysis and animation about who'd be able to steal an artifact or priceless gem first instead of who'd be more likely to kill the other in a fight.

There is this concept in the DBM Reddit, where instead of fights, the characters are pitted in unique scenarios.
