DEATH BATTLE! Discussion Thread (All-time Death Battle Spoilers Alert)

Crazy people are saying Weekly has returned because some guy was wanking RWBY in r/Deathbattle

I've recently been binge-watching Gundam, boy, did they do Amuro dirty. It felt like they were making Gundam look lame

The whole fight is Optimus beating the guy up, seriously, Amuro looks like a wimp with the "I'm just better" line when all he did was get lucky

The worst part is that they gave Amuro his weakest mech against composite Optimus

I know the fight is a stomp at least put the man at his peak. It's like using Kid Goku against Infinite Frontier Superman or Early series Ichigo against EOS Naruto. It's stupid.

The analysis is mainly why I find the episode to be kinda mid. Optimus really didn't need a composite in order to win at all, why DB's composite standards for Transformers being all over the place is still baffling to me. And isn't the point of DB to use the character at their strongest? Like Amuro having the Nu or Hi-Nu wouldn't have the change the result much, but at least it would have been much more accurate

I think the best way to describe my problems is that it focused too much on "the Gundam" rather than "Amuro the character" like it should have. Imagine if Simon vs Kyle only had Simon using base Gurren Lagann.

Really should've called it Optimus Prime vs Amuro Ray tbh.

I hope we get another Gundam episode, something like Char vs Lelouch would be sick.

Yeah, there is a greater emphasis on them being the classic robots, zero exploration of their characters whatsoever. Using the weakest version of a character who is already getting stomped against a composite version of a cosmic guy is crazy.

Yeah rewatching the fight while it still among the better fights from s5 it def felt amuro came off as a chump by the end of the fight given was beating his when they got to earth

I def wouldn't mind seeing the series back again

Personally want to see G Gundam be used

Anyways was rewatching Aang vs Ed and ngl it was just mid than this bastard son from hell the community makes it out to be.
Aang character was fine up until the kill while Ed character was lackluster

While I'm a fan of both series it's just Pretty forgettable in the grand scheme of it and doubt any fans outside of the community cares about it other than that happened

Honesty looking back, I think Aang vs Ed was a closet spite match.

Reconcile the characters official VAs to what happened that year. You should know what I'm implying here.

I don't think the mu was made to be spite it was a popular mu back in the day among normies
It just db writing be a 50/50 and it happened to land on the part of being ass

I'm not denying a lack of fundamentals (and Ben being off sick, might I add) is a large symptom, I just don't think it was the cause in that year specifically

Much better than Char vs Megatron lmfao (Not a bad MU but both have better options honestly). I've seen some potential Gundam MUs floating around. Like Kamille vs Hikari Ichijo from Macross or Banagher Links vs Shinji Ikari, the latter I feel is honestly a pretty interesting one to do and I think could do decently well as an actual episode.

It depends if you buy building level Kyle via scaling to Aiden from DL2 (questionable).

Plus there is going to be a new Dying Light game starring Kyle soon which might give him something new.
Then wait until that drops I guess. Pretty sure as we have them both on the site Frank has basically every edge.

A little late for the party, but:
Watched both previews and I liked the structure so far.

But I didn't like 'Wile is an idiot, Tom's very smart and just gets outplayed'

Wile's got a LOT of instances of him showing he's no slouch, and Tom can absolutely be gullible.

I'm only concerned, because when they make a big deal about a personality trait, they sometimes weave it into the animation and it makes the characters seem really out of character, and personality being a reason in the post analysis tends to feel a little half baked most of the time.

I'm concerned Tom will win and too much of the post analysis will be "Yeah Tom's just smarter, and every other stat and ability is equalized so there was no edge in any other way."
Oh absolutely. I think Wile deserves his Genius ranking, he's got plenty of feats for it, but his biggest failure outside of dumb luck is without a doubt being outplayed.

Roadrunner and Bugs are just so crafty and clever, they turn any idea he has back around or exploit something he missed.
This☝️, Death Battle really downplayed Wile's intelligence

Portrating Tom as a character with "Above Average Intellect that just gets outsmarted by a smarter character" is completely incorrect given the amount of times his ego and fanatism towards catching Jerry affected his common sense and made many of his plans backfire

Plus, Tom has been tricked a lot of times by many characters, such as Butch

Because I find some of the speed ratings on this site fascinating. I'm curious how Aladdin from Magi is still merely FTL, when I managed to get him somewhere in the billions of times FTL.
Trust me, most of times that characters have explicit feats above where we currently rank them is due to lack of interest on franchise updates

Most ways of upgrades and dowangrades have already been argued several times on the wiki, at least for popular Verses
