Weren't only the emanations of the new gods afraid? Keep in mind there are emanations of Apokolipse/New Genesis too, so them in Fourth World being afraid doesn't mean their Godheads are really worried.

I mean in complete fairness: there's something very oddly thematic about Superman, someone who many would argue is the embodiment of hope and optimism, battling a nihilistic eldritch god that embodies despair and sees the very idea of life as being painful in nature and thus must be destroyed.
It reminds me a lot of Superman vs Mandrakk from Final Crisis, which is why I vibe with Superman vs Scarlet King.

Also, I just realized something very crazy: the chances of SCP-682 beating Doomsday due to informational level regeneration and bullshit levels of reactive evolution and adaptability is actually very much possible thanks to what Simon vs Kyle showed us.

Unless Post Flashpoint showed something crazy I don't know about, Doomsday is kinda all hype. Maybe you can bs scale him to Gog through the Kingdom Come stuff but that was always such a glaring outlier within the timeframe.

Doomsday honestly dies. Like unless you scale him to Supes' absolute peak stuff, otherwise, I think he's mostly just above herald level. The arguments for him being SoG level have always been.... Iffy?

I hate to sound like a goober, but it’s really only thematically cool if the hopeful Superman actually wins. But knowing SCP scaling it might just be a total stomp and having the edgy OC “nihilism is based” guy winning out sounds kinda cringe and a bit too much of a downer for most people.
Rather Superman lose to someone like 999 or 3812 since that’s at least thematically interesting and doesn’t leave a sour taste in people mouths.

I really dislike the lack of gatekeeping that killed SCP. Whether it was the tumblr generation discovering it and ruining it, or then the versus debating community sucking its horror dry. It's like nobody understood the original point of SCP.
Same sort of thing is happening with Backrooms being overexplained.

Can I be real for a second? I really do not like SCP when it comes to scaling and versus match ups. I'm sure there is a genuine, set in stone canon to it, but to a relative outsider it really just comes across like kids arguing on the playground.

I'm a little conflicted on this episode. I think the fight looks very good but agree that the pacing is too fast. However, my real hang-ups are some of the writing, like skipping over Kyle's Ion phase in his analysis and more importantly, the scaling. We really do have to accept that matchups, especially comic ones, are analyzed independently of each other since the interpretation of DC cosmology felt really different compared to past episodes, especially against Marvel which has me curious where they'll scale Hulk.
Overall, while I don't agree with Simon winning, it didn't feel as questionable to me as Spawn beating Ghost Rider, but with how much pushback the "Heralds" have been getting nowadays, both of them seemed like they were only a matter of time.

If they do use crossover scaling, I'm pretty sure it's a GG. Wile E. would downscale from the Speedforce via Roadrunner, who can consistently keep pace with (and IIRC even once outsped) The Flash
If the match ends up a tie, I don't think it'd be because of crossover scaling either. I think a more likely reason would be that they both end up sabotaging themselves so hard they lose.
In general I do think the coyote has it though. Tom has died from stuff any Looney Toon worth its salt would shrug off/regen from.

Anyone that thinks anything from a story that wasn't built on powerscaler brainrot can stand up SCP-682 at its strongest doesn't understand or wasn't there to remember how absurd the Extended Canon / Meta Cosmology got.
Like, the original version of Tier 0 was effectively the baseline scaling for one(1) Narrative thanks to SCP-3812's infinite narrative-stack transcending still actually being contained in a single Narrative, while the actual big shtick like the Constants (Including SCP-682's Constant of Termination) were way beyond Infinite Layers of Patapheres or whatever nonsense, which were way beyond the Infosphere, which is way beyond a single Narrative.
You'd literally need meta-meta-qualitative superiority to even begin to argue that a character could stand up to that BS, and it's next to impossible to write a single story that could get anything that strong while also telling a meaningful message.
