DEATH BATTLE! Discussion Thread (All-time Death Battle Spoilers Alert)

Can I ask you something? Do you see any Xeno MUs happening beyond Shulk?

  • I think Rex vs Sora has a good shot of happening (KHIII revisions and all that, and I'd wager Sora doesn't have as much going on?)
  • If it counts, I have proof that the VAs for Noah/N (Harry McEntire) and Malos (David Menkin) would be willing to reprise their roles in a Death Battle. The idea would at least get a fair few views should an episode be predicated on that.
  • XCXDE is semi-fresh in memory, so Cross/Elma's chances are certainly not zero. I am kinda gunning for DE MUs despite me not liking the game very much.
  • Melia has a decent shot given her character (also FC rep is overdue).
  • Joe Zieja mentioned Xenogears once? Does that count?
So yeah, the possibility isn't entirely shot.

I just realized that they kinda spoiled how much a non-issue the Energy Sword is going to be to Slayer in the preview. He took a hit straight to the head and didn't even seem to flinch from it. It sold Chief's speed pretty well but also definitely showed that Slayer's got the durability and strength advantage locked down.

Okay, prediction. There won't be an energy sword finale. I predict Chief uses a Forerunner weapon, it fails but does knock off Doomslayer's helmet. Doomslayer takes out his crucible and executes Chief, maybe one last line of begrudging respect, "You aren't a demon."

I redid the calc for Doomslayer tanking the Argent Tower:

Doomslayer tanked the destruction of Argent Tower, which produces a massive amount of energy:

"What used to take a nuclear reactor 12 months to produce can be generated in a few seconds by the Argent Tower"

This game takes place in the 22nd century, doubtlessly nuclear power plants are more powerful then than now, but for reference this is the current most powerful nuclear power plant:

1750 megawatts.

1750 megawatts * 12 months = 55.2246205 petajoules

As for surface area, I found a more novel way to calculate it

Doomslayer Height = 203.2 cm
Image Height = 1660 pixels
203.2 cm = 1660 pixels
1 pixel = 0.1224 cm
Area = 720335 pixels
Cross-Sectional Area of Doomslayer = 10,787 cm^2 (1.079 m^2)

Distance = At most 5 meters,

If 50% of the energy is used for the explosion like a Nuke at 5 meters: (55.2246205 petajoules * 0.5)/(4pi*(5 meters)^2) = 87.8927133 terajoules per square meter

87.8927133 terajoules per square meter * 1.079 m^2 = 22.666 kilotons of tnt

Environmental storytelling shows there was an actual explosion, one needed to, as the Argent Energy Tower blurb puts it, "blow open a portal into their world." So this was an actual explosion he tanked before the portal opened.

I am not knowledgeable about either of these series but

Preview kind of worries me ngl. Chief and Slayer both have snappy movements and little weight to most their movements, and the swap from cqc to weapons seemed off. Visuals are aight though but I'm not expecting much from this battle
