DEATH BATTLE! Discussion Thread (All-time Death Battle Spoilers Alert)

I'm now seeing some attempt to greatly misinterpret the statements about how all the pantheons in God of War coexist simultaneously despite any contradictions by saying that it means "the cosmology and lore is fake", on top of compounding it with the usual horrid "in-game propaganda" take.. man, you literally cannot win for losing lmao. I can't understand these loops of logic that some will leap through before they accept that, God forbid, the series, and the top-dog characters in it, are at cosmic levels of power.

And obviously, it's not just Kratos that this kind of insanity happens with; it's like the very vast majority of video game characters similar to him are stuck in this cycle of constantly being downplayed to the 9th Circle, or getting scaled to the highest heavens imaginable and made out to be unbeatable with no real in-between. It'd be wild to see the day that Kratos, and characters like him, finally get freed from the shackles of the absolutely insane levels of scrutiny that they usually get put through in comparison to most other game verses.

Well they're redditors. I think that is enough an explanation.

By the way, going back to Dragon Ball. How the **** does Krillin not have Social Manip when he pulled this:
GhUhoDbWEAACYQ2

Seriously he is like 2 feet tall.
Lazui probably just likes smaller guys and him not killing her when he had the chance just sealed the deal since she found him cute beforehand.

As for the Kratos preview... maybe its since I came off of watching Fan Battle's Spy vs Agent 47 and enjoyed the smaller scale but I felt like:

The "lore" people complain about is just the basic plot of the games. Odin killing Ymir and using his body to form the realms is not some obscure lore it's just the backstory of a character. Cronos overthrowing his father who created the cosmos isn't obscure lore, it's again just Cronos' backstory. These two events which are used as feats commonly are as important to the story of both eras of God of War as Kratos making his deal with Ares.

Anyone who says "it's just continents and islands" has not played the games or if they have they haven't paid enough attention.

While this thread has complained about DB team on research, another fact is that DB fans themselves are biased as shit.

Under normal circumstances questioning lore Kratos and thinking Asura wins is respectable. But so many others get a free pass on lore and ignoring anti-feats. Capeshit is absolutely not consistently Outerversal, and Marvel editorial themselves said DB's stats are bad. But basically no one wants to talk about that. Instead uh oh Ian Flynn questioned giving Archie Silver everything, guess that confirms Heroes Trunks wins.

DB Fans have favorites, and Kratos is not one of them. This is why Jaffe, who no longer works at GoW, is given validity saying "Spider-Man gapes Kratos". And then favorites are given massive benefit of doubt, like how Asura or even Kirby doesnt have direct universal feats either.

I will absolutely continue roasting DB Reddit once AshYugi comes and Universal Ash is said to be ok despite that being less justified than Kratos.

Bro Ian Flynn got swamped lmao for that. I think the dude is aware of Sonic fans and their G.D.S and so he says funny shit like Oozaru Kid Goku beats Sonic after getting asked about nothing but if platonic concepts exist in Sonic or sum shit for the 60th time just to piss people off.

And then on the opposite end of the spectrum you have Dragon Ball fans asking (bugging really) Koyama on twitter if Heaven is a higher dimensiom he deadass goes 'yep it's 7th dimension'

Power scalers ruining their rep nagging the creators about dumb shit

Good god I have not been in for a while. Got a work placement on lock for a few weeks, and I've been discussing a Persona 4 remake with a close acquaintance for like a month straight, which has taken up a lot of time.

So... do I ask what I've missed? Or do I bring up P4 MUs even though I don't like the game?

What's absolutely sad about this is that ZaStando would create sock accounts to ask the SAME QUESTIONS over and over again.

To the point where Ian and Kyle (the person who reads the questions) began to RECOGNIZE the sock accounts and make fun of ZaStando for it before giving a hand waved answer.

Legitimately just... something else.

Legendary maneuver by Ian and Kyle lmao

We are getting Lore Kratos, celebrate or cry or ignore if you dont care for next time :V
Last year's G1 blog on this was super scuffed, bad calcs for Asura's speed and AP, even worse for Kratos' stats, (that surtur calc was atrocious) but they generally nailed the gist of it. Kratos has way too much BS to throw at Asura. Asura needs a some stat advantage for his RE to make him too much for Kratos to handle

My guess for the episode is that they will give them roughly similar stats and just say Kratos' hax and arsenal could put Asura down before he grows too much.

Everyone almost always over complicates the verdict explanation

Here's my rough prediction

Kratos:

=roughly comparable stat trio
+larger arsenal
+more varied abilities asura has no answer to
+more skilled
-less experienced
-inferior stamina

Asura:

=roughly equal stat trio
+can grow rapidly in strength
+more range via size and projectiles
+better stamina
-has no answer to or defense against kratos' abilities
-less skilled
-less versatile

Kratos W mid to high diff

Wouldn't be surprised if they gave Kratos AP and Asura speed, or if they made Kratos speed as well tho

So that would look like this with their five category thing

Strength: Kratos
Speed: Asura or Tie
Arsenal: Kratos
Abilities: Kratos
Stamina: Asura

Isn't Zastando the same guy who, just a couple months ago, made a three hour long debunk of Bowser vs Eggman? I get that episode wasn't perfect, nothing is, but wasting an ungodly amount of time debunking a single video is completely absurd.

And let's not forget this either

ZaStando is also uhhh, shit I won't go into on here.

shit like this i can understand why Authors avoid powerscaling questions

Aside from certain God Tier villains of the verse, Spidey with Prep has good chances and would ironically be threatened most by Dr. Eggman due to his "superior" intellect (Spidey should be Supergenius straight up instead of Extraordinary G, and activating a Cosmic Cube is no laughing matter).

The moment Spidey gets his hand on some EggTech, the reverse-engineering would be insane.

Eggman in Marvel would be a menace with how consistently powerful his shit is, especially stuff like Metal Sonic who's basically the robot equivalent to the Protege under the right circumstances.

True, and it's a perfect thematic considering the irony in the scientific minds of Marvel often being the most dangerous villains (Doom, The Maker, etc.) when putting aside cosmic entities.

I can imagine a scenario where Spidey pulls up against Dr. Eggman with a "Metal Spider" knock-off that uses Metal's framework, leading to a very pissed (but secretly impressed and flattered) Dr. Eggman huffing something about "copyright infringement" under his breath.

This could only happen if they stopped making 616 Peter a complete bum
