Yeah, Blackfire at best probably downscales from Post-Crisis Wonder Woman. If they using heroes stuff, she's cooked.

Honestly Im just salvaging best I can with Cell vs Metal. Cell has few obvious MUs that are fine and Id rather get Sonic W than capeshit W. DB already shit the bed in current research, its not my fault their methods would make Metal stomp.

Vs Garou has like no real core themes, sadly.

You really want Cell to lose regardless of scaling him to even GT if they even go there or somehow to Cell Max if they even go there?

Like why not Garou? At least there is a debate, depending where Toei and anime only stuff gets Cell, but there is something there

I mean, seriously, what connections do Garou and Cell really have, like in character. Most I can think of is them being wanting to reach the pinnacle of "ultimate monsters/lifeforms" and being martial artists. But even with the first one, Garou and cell are just so different in personality in character that there's not much thematic stuff between the two.

At least Metal Sonic has the similarity of both essentially mechanical weapons of mass destruction bent on killing our main hero and both having gone rogue to pursue their own purposes.

I think the connection is meant to be mimicry martial artist, not much else about their character. It exists because people want to see that mid ass power up that Garou needs GOD to give him

I hate his stupid ass GOD power up till this day. Like the whole thing just cheapened Garou's whole character just for the sake of spectacle.

As some main stays here might have noticed, I basically am biased for DBZ. Yet despite that, I dont want just wins for them no matter the cause, thats just lame.

Cell vs Garou... Just does not have a strong core theme, sorry. Yeah, martial arts villains, they want to evolve, mimicry in a way, blah blah, there are connections, but no real simple thematic connections. I dont vibe with it enough.

Man, GT, Cell Max, can we not rely on using weird composites just to make characters strongest. Naturally strong characrers are fun dopamine but its just pathetic to see it being so common to see composite requests. Unbelievably lame.

As for debate... I dunno, Cell is probably still cooked. Even if recent Toei usage means funny stuff like Trillions/quadrillions x FTL Cell, Garou has that le power stat copy. I dont think DB would make Cell win before Garou copies him. Cell loses his main advantage then. Hypothetical Saiyan Power allowing him to grow stronger during battle seems inferior to Garou's growth during battle.

So yeah, I dont think Cell vs Garou has strong core theme, using non-canon stuff is lame and Cell might just lose either way. Ehhhh. Also OPM dropped the ball, so Metal getting a dub is better dopamine for me. And basically all other Cell MUs are meh at best. Cell vs Metal became naturally popular, so **** it, why not that. Cell's future MUs in DB are bleak either way.

This might be a ignorant question, but isn't the spectacle and the power scaling from OPM one of the only reasons why OPM remains somewhat relevant to this day? Like I remember how massively popular OPM was when season one released, yet it feels like the complete opposite these days.

Yes and no. I think it's downgrade in popularity is largely due to a lack of season 3 and hype dying down.

But as for spectacle, part of what made OPM appealing to me is that it managed to balance both style and substance in its storytelling, but during the latter half of the monster arc, it really felt like Murata trading substance for style with how much plot elements were sacrificed either for cooler and longer fight scenes (that sometimes felt too dragged out) or for the sake of comedic moments with poor timing.

So essentially, OPM fell off for some people because it focused solely on style and comedy without any of the substance that gravitated people towards the series to begin with? I'll admit: that's pretty disappointing to hear.

Because one of the things I liked about OPM, at least when I watched the first season, was showing the constant existential dread that Saitama experienced as a result of how strong he is. It was truly interesting to see that beneath his goofy and somewhat aloof personality, Saitama was this character who struggled heavily with trying to relate to his humanity as a result of not being able to experience any sort of challenge or thrill as a result of his overwhelming strength. Hell, I'm about 60% sure that one of the arcs Saitama went through later on after beating Boros was trying to find purpose and meaning to his life outside of strength or some shit like that.

Again I could be misremembering, but I swear that OPM had subtle layers and nuance to its story and characters outside of being a parody of standard shonen series.

One-Punch Man was really liked for its story and characters, nowadays not so much. The jokes have gotten rewritten to be much worse than they were in the main series

It's also true that in many cases, what came before interrupts what's now
For example:
-Tatsumaki's development isn't felt as much in the psychic saga because by this point she was already improving her relationship with her sister and was already able to trust and care for others (Genos), so Saitama's battle loses a lot of weight
-We've been exposed to the whole God and Blast thing a lot, so the ninja saga feels like another rehash of the theme and not something completely new,
And so on

Ryuko got her form which needs a lot of fiber to unlock it and even in the animation had her get it to match Shadow golden form
