I was just exploring other possibilities about what went down in that scene. I'm not against the idea of it being a dimensional shatter type deal, I've just always wondered if there was ever anything provided in the game's lore/secondary sources that would make it more ironclad since that's what's generally accepted to have happened.

Its implied C-137 did it to catch Prime like a fly, but yeah its supposed to protect them from more powerful or smarter beings.
But that doesnt mean Ricks arent smart, especially C-137 can easily outscale DC in Intelligence for example

Nowadays, you'll see an increasing amount of people that will try and tell you that the Ascension cutscene, and others feats like it, are somehow just propaganda to hype up the gods or something when it is literally just the origin story of the Greek world being shown to us, plain and simple. Shit's crazy out here.
Also, Ares had some control over the pocket dimension he sent Kratos to, but I don't think the actual creation of it was ever directly attributed to him.

The novel treated it as mind hax, but then GOW2 was just the same as the game (So basically just dimensionsal BFR). Don't think we can directly attribute it to being made or controlled by Ares but the fact it has an actual galaxy in it does show that different dimensions in GOW aren't county sized like a decent number of people think they are.
