Just going to say that any of Shulk's matchups strike me as penultimate season material, not season finale per se.

As for any of Ash's matchups, well... keep in mind that if it's canonical composite Ash + Pikachu, then Z-moves stomp anything up to Star/Galaxy level by our standards. It could even be seen as a reason why I've been looking into characters like Hala and Guzma... but I digress.

I think wanking every legend that isn't UBs to Galaxy is kinda horseshit, but that's a rant for another time.

We shall find out in Episode 150 or 151...

I've heard precisely nothing of those names. Mind telling me more?
Kuroyukihime is the female main protagonist of Accel World.
Shiroe is the male main protagonist of Log Horizon.
Maple is the female main protagonist of Itai no wa Iya nano de Bougyoryoku ni Kyokufuri Shitai to Omoimasu (Bofuri).

All three (with Kirito) are online game players with a very powerful game avatar.

And I don't suppose that's their only relation to him? Is there any comparisons to be drawn from narrative morals? Similarities in fighting styles? Friend/Family relations?

Also, I understand that Accel World is an SAO shared universe? I'm starting to have second thoughts about that kind of matchup knowing the oddities of cross-verse fights (and yes, that would mean I'm willing to drop Malos's placement on my Shulk VS MU chart just so I don't look like a hypocrite).

Mark Grayson himself has bland powers and his personality could carry an animation, but he is still a bit bland in fighting.
Omni-Man has style, Eve has crazy hax, Battle Beast would shine through way more

Mark just works less well in DB than almost every other candidate in his series

I knew Accel World and SAO had the same writer, but I didn't know they were in the same universe.

Kirito vs Shulk? What?

  • Characters made aware of the makings of their own world, and what it means to live in them (Beanstalk / Fluctlights and the Underworld). Commentaries on the state of their respective worlds and their futures. Oh and Heathcliff's history with SAO's narrative can be seen as similar to Zanza/Klaus's history with Xenoblade's narrative [see also].
  • Both have survived death of a sort (Dickson backstabbing @ Mechonis core / Aincrad post-grace period). Both have also lost friends and managed to regain them (Fiora and Asuna respectively).
  • Both are swordies (duh). I daresay the god tiers of their respective verses.
  • Both spend off-time in scientific or otherwise technological fields of work (Shulk being a weapons scientist, Kirito being a hardware boffin, and looking to the future of VR as it pertains to it's proliferation within his generation).
  • Both may or may not be commentaries on survivors guilt, and what can be done with varying power (causality, understanding emotion in an ever-automated and atomised world etc.). Shulk having a vision about people like Sorean he was ultimately unable to save could be seen as not too dissimilar to Kirito seeing Eugeo's death as tantamount to Asuna's near-miss, and knowing he shouldn't have gotten away with it. In fact, both have outbursts in their inactivity (Mechonis core arc and WoU Episode 18 respectively).
  • Both can be considered RPG protagonists as much as they are video game characters.

Also Kirito would probably mistake Shulk for Eugeo. Admit it lol.

Anyway, this would probably be your tagline:

(yes, this is like my 2nd edit of the post lol)
