Well I was wondering since DC is too far from vertigo, and the new unconsciousness that is in Lucifer's new career asked me can we still climb the old reliable career? they already know perpetually and their children What basically refers to the presence and their children.

or at least Sandman who has had his appearance in metal?

Lucifer 2016 run kept his canon but the most current version he has no scar meaning no direct link to mike carey lucifer run which ran in vertigo. Since he finished his story on lucifer DC made new comic for him for the fans and because of the fox show that aired eariler. The story are told quite different, the power scaling is different, the old mike carey story held no relevance to the new runs.

The Current Lucifer run is before Mike Carey's run. He has just given up his wings and keys to hell. In issue 14 we see a scen pf long hair Lucifer waiting in a beach on Australia just after abdicating his throne. This is a direct link to Spectre when Spectre finds Lucifer in Sydney in his search of God.

I could also point out in previous Vertigo continuity, Mike Carey and other writers stating Vertigo had it's own canon

And people bringing up Spectre meeting Michael and Lucifer meeting Spectre ignore that the Michael Spectre fought CAN'T be Vertigo's Michael, since he was sealed away by Sandalphon during the War in Heaven until Lucifer released him in Lucifer vol 1 #13.

So apparently, the rule is, the cosmology is the same, but events may differ.

Unless you ask Neil Gaiman, who says it's still in the same universe to him.
