Unpopular Opinions and (Friendly) Rant thread

I guess it has to do with how un-linear it is? It sets itself up on more of the metroid end of metroidvanias, and I'll be honest I've only played the first metroid on the NES, but it just doesn't feel fun. It feels aimless, and with so many areas connected to eachother it gets overwhelming. It's not like Dark Souls 1 or the handheld Castlevania games, where there's still multiple diverging paths that lead to shortcuts or new areas yet the amount doesn't feel overwhelming. It's still alright in my opinion, but it's not as amazing as I've heard it is.
it is the unlinearity that I like. When I play HK I feel like I'm free to explore and that is the fun part of it all. When I want to play a game, I want the game to have a lot of 'game' in it. I want a lot of non-repetitive content that I can go through at my own pace. Hollow Knight, in addition to its pleasant combat system and extremely good atmoshere of the setting makes me enjoy it ever more.
Feeling overwhelmed is a personal feeling that I can respect, but it is for sure not an objective truth.

The thing I felt least about Holow Knight was being overwhelmed.

For the ten hours I played, I just found everything boring and a little uninteresting. I say the game is rubbish just to annoy people.

Yeah the atmosphere and combat is where it gets full marks at. It feels hollow, I'm a good way, as if everything really is abandoned.

that's the thing - it is a dead kingdom. You are exploring the rotting corpse of Hallownest. One might not understand it at first but you're essentially playing a zombie game.

I got clowned on another site for calling dexter's lab trash
And now I'm wondering what do y'all like about that show because there's nothing appealing about it to me
Dexter's Lab is just a good show.

It does nothing awful (except for the later seasons), and it does nothing to stand out from the other CN shows.

It's just a good show.

I think im the only beyblade fan alive rn
Beyblade burst did not have to go that hard with aiger vs phi visuals over a freaking spining tops 😭🙏 (Also BB burst is seriously good i regret not watching it when it was mega popular)

Ngl I grew out of Beyblade but I have some good memories of the Metal series.

Only shows I get heated over are things like mlp because I just don't understand how grown men like that stuff
I don't mean to be judgmental or anything because I understand everybody has preferences and lord knows I my self have enjoyed a few goofy/childish things but I just don't get the appeal

The show isn't my thing personally, but if I were to ever have a daughter, MLP is one of the first shows I would let her watch.

Of course you'd let a child watch a show for children lol
I'm talking about the adults who watch it. What's the appeal for them?
Same for Bluey

I guess it's the messages and topics both MLP and Bluey have that resonates with a lot of people, especially adults.

The way both shows tackle certain subjects, while still making it digestible to their target audience is probably one of the reasons why adults love those shows so much.

Oh, and of course, the characters in the show as well.

It has a cute, sharp style of animation that somehow remains soft and sweet. It has a simple story but intriguing lore. It has very good character designs. It has very good character relationships. Thus the appeal.
Also furries who are into anime-style horses join the battle as a new fighter

I forgot adults love lore.

It's a reason why shows like Adventure Time and Steven Universe has so many adult fans.

There are too many furries who just wanna sexualize everything beyond reason. No matter how much they try to deny it, it's the truth.
I don't get the appeal of it in general
Like again, I don't like to judge people, and I'm not trying to drag anyone down
But who really wants to dress up as a dog and stuff?

When I hear the term "furry", my mind automatically goes to characters like Lola Bunny (OG Space Jam), Rouge the Bat (Sonic), Callie Briggs (Swat Kats), and Kitty Katswell (T.U.F.F. Puppy).

All of those characters I mentioned are clearly portrayed to be animals with humanistic proportions (basically animals that are human-adjacent). When I see that, I go "I can see the appeal."

But when it comes to characters like Judy Hopps, Nick Wilde, and all of the MLP characters, where they have the same shape, body type, and mannerisms as their animal counterpart, and the only thing that's human-like about them is that they talk, I start giving mfs the side eye.

There's people who will basically just out themselves as a weirdo, for example Vaporeon enthusiasts.
Never understood why some people find any of the Pokemon hot, besides Gothitelle

I'm convinced anyone who likes Johnny Test fell into the "Pretending to ironically enjoy something because it's funny but doing it long enough that you start to unironically dig it" pitfall.
Actually I take it back.

To some extent, you're right, because Johnny Test was unfortunately one of the victims of revisionist history, where mfs pretended like the show was never hated.

Hollow Knight best metroidvania
I played a couple after the Pantheons yet none could give me the joy that Hollow Knight gave me

And Silksong coming out only after GTA 6
