Unpopular Opinions and (Friendly) Rant thread

Speaking as someone who was admittedly disappointed that they didn't get together at the end (or at least not confirmed, anyway), I think it's stupid that people considered Ochako some kind of "prize" like what you're saying. I just thought they had a really nice dynamic and would've liked to see them together at the end. Especially with how the penultimate chapter went
the sheer aura of loneliness Deku had just made the whole finale so disappointing.
If a series has a finale it should either be the perfect ending, calm solemn ending, abrupt tragic ending that leaves room for thought or just straight up bombastic. These are the ones I can outline that work well, there are obviously more. The MHA ending was both a solemn ending and a failure of bombastic ending. 8 years in the joint down the drain and only now we get some sort of conclusion, deku becoming a hero, not with his own strength, and in an age where heroes aren't that useful anymore.

I get that endings are hard to land but it I don't quite get why it is hard to make at least a simple happy ending without some wacky-ahh logic going on. I mean if we're going with the ironman suit at least make it so he gets it fast and we start the final chapter with him getting into it and going on a mission. We could also commit to the superhero teacher part with him teaching kids happily, getting at least some recognition and the need for superheroes still being notable enough for the job to be useful.
There are many ways it could've gone well but why are people mad at Ochako? Because even the basic "good hero guy gets the girl" bonus Deku could've gotten got stripped from him. He got 8 years of becoming distant with his friends and doing a job that was far from his dream career.
Even if I ignore all the logical and writing issues that went down with the ending, which I will, since last time I argued with... I think it was actually Slendy, for like a page or two straight. I don't give enough of a damn to have such an argument again.

Either way it is as simple as - The hero was basically not rewarded until 8 years later where he got a suit which at this point isn't even that useful since there are no more world-ending threats present.

Heroes not being as necessary anymore is literally the point? That's why he gave up OFA. Besides, the whole point is that anyone who's helping people, including, say, a random-ass grandma, is a hero, no matter how insignificant it may seem. That's the point. Also, it's heavily implied he's going to fulfill the All Might role for a future student, or possibly more, because it's shown how good of a teacher he is.

HE DID. THAT LITERALLY HAPPENED.

So, that's the 'prize' argument, literally spelled out.
He got 8 years of becoming distant with his friends and doing a job that was far from his dream career.
Literally didn't happen, he was happy with his job, and didn't hang out with ALL his friends very often because he's a grown-ass man and they don't live together anymore.

I know you don't want to debate on this, but the debate came up because you were saying objectively incorrect stuff.

see what I mean? It's like a trigger button. Complain about the ending once he'll start arguing again. i ain't even gonna bother reading it this time

Actually, I don't care about arguing with you, your arguments are just so mid I don't want other people's opinion to be swayed by them.

I don't think the ending was anything special, it was pretty standard, but a large portion of the criticism is dogshit, and frankly, if you don't want me to answer, don't say my name.

JJK had a fine ending, I don't know why people complain so much about it
In fact, I know: The JJK fandom take headcanon more seriously than the actual canon, and then when the chapater pulls something not expected they say that it was a bad choice

However, Gege could have worked better in some points of the story, but I don't blame him, since he was DYING . It was a weekly manga but it was basically biweekly due to how many times Gege had health issues. Not only that, but he got hospitalized for three weeks when making Yujo vs Sukuna. Some pages were unfinished yet released to not delay the manga numerous times. Hell, the new volume notes even made clear that he wanted to work more with something as simple as "lol double jump" but couldn't due to time.

Yeah, mangaka work like, a lot, getting sick from that is pretty easy. It's why a lot of people don't get mad over "break next week" statements like some people do.

was gonna send a meme but I searched up double thumbs up on youtube and like 90% of the results had something to do with sex or sex jokes

What the genuine f-

Ok rodents too. Basically small mammals or reptiles that are angry shall be described as feisty. The rest - no.
What about large mammals or reptiles, or fish? What if I am trying to get a gorilla to settle down so I can give him his medicine? What if I am trying to feed a group of koi and one of them keeps flopping around and slapping the other ones?

All these latest manga endings coming out and fans complaining, it's funny to watch. We Mashle fans? We got an ending we're happy about, we enjoyed that ending, and we don't have to deal with slander towards our main character Mash Burnedead.

We eating pretty good.

I am pretty curious to see what'll happen to Shonen Jump after all of this. Kagurabachi is like the only barely big shonen I can think of currently, the rest are really new, mediocre, or simply not as popular despite having cult followings in both the west and east.

me inviting all shonen fans to read ruridragon with me after one piece and hunter x hunter ends (theres no point to reading shonen after their conclusions)

Me when time manipulation without any resitriction (Time travel, precog, time stop, can rewind your own body to "regen", speed amp, age manipulation, retrognition, teleport, EE, and much more)

They still have Kagurabachi, Chainsaw Man, DanDaDan, Sakamoto Days, Undead Unluck (though, that might be wrapping up in the next few months), and a bunch of non-battle Shounen manga like Akanabananshi and Blue Box.

They might not be the enormous mega-hits like One Piece and Jujutsu Kaisen (though, Chainsaw Man probably gets in their ballpark), but they still have a bunch of stuff (also, One Piece probably won't be ending for a while longer).

You know, I saw The Joker movie, I liked it. I think it was a good commentary on how society mistreats the mentally ill, I watched it a long time ago so I don't remember all the details, but I remember thinking it was a good mature movie. I feel bad that it was adopted by incels, but I still think it was a good movie with a nice message overall. The movie had a big cultural impact too, in real life, I have seen plenty of people who are rebels and protesters fighting for inequality dress and paint themselves like Joker, he became a symbol of rebellion against the upper class and the politicians that control every one of us.

Now, I already expected Joker 2 to shit on the Joker character since the directors are part of the rich upper class of Hollywood elites that oppress us, and Joker became associated with incels. So it's obvious the directors wouldn't praise a character that stands against everything they represent. So yeah, I expected Joker to be humiliated in the new movie.

Honestly, I think the best way to anger the incel Joker fans would have just been to give Joker a good relationship with a woman, a nice healthy relationship of mutual love and respect. Then the incels would have been sperging out because their idol is not an incel. Though now that I think about it, I am unsure how that would happen since Joker is a schizo that kinda stalked a woman in the first movie.

Anyway, to be clear, I am not bothered that they killed Joker and humiliated him in the second movie. Like, that's bad writing. I know the Joker isn't supposed to be just one person or have an origin story, but you shouldn't make a movie to get people invested in a character just to kill him afterwards for shock value. Phoenix Joker shouldn't have been killed just to introduce a new Joker. That format would have worked better for a series, not a movie, because now you wasted 2 hours of my time making me invested in a character just for him to be fake.

At this point, they should have just made Phoenix Joker a different character from the real joker, not tied to the "Joker" branding because they are not related to each other. It seems like they used the Joker name to release a good movie with a branded name just to get more money.

Anyway, this movie is a slap to the face to the fans of the first Joker movie. That was expected, but why should the fans of the first Joker movie watch the second movie? Why should we give those rich Hollywood elite bastards our precious money and time? We aren't forced to watch every movieslop they poop out of their anuses. We shouldn't give them money if they are blatantly spitting in our faces.

To be clear, I haven't watched the movies. I am merely judging the direction the movie went in based on spoilers. I could watch The Joker 2 to give a critique of the movie but based on the spoilers I have received and the reviews I have seen, I highly doubt I would like the movie.

I dislike the direction and I wanted to comment on in. I am not going to watch it. I don't like the direction, so I won't watch the movie. At least, I won't buy it. If I watch Joker 2, it will be through piracy sites, since I don't plan on giving Hollywood money just to see if a product is bad or not.

Either way, this is the main reason I am making this rant. I have seen spoilers that reveal that Joker got sexually abused as a kid by his step-father and that he got raped by prison guards. I think it goes without saying about why this is done in poor taste, but I will elaborate further.

The Joker 2 is a movie made in bad taste to humiliate Phoenix Joker as a character and the first Joker movie didn't have Joker get sexually assaulted or raped, it didn't treat those themes. I think that if you are going to humiliate a character and mock his fans, the last thing you should do is make that character be sexually assaulted. Because it seems like you are writing sexual assault as a way to demean and demasculinize a character.

To be clear, I would have this exact same criticism if Joker was a female or another type of character. Rape and sexual assault shouldn't be treated like jokes in serious stories.

Honestly, maybe it's me being a schizo, but Hughie getting raped in The Boys being treated like a joke and this are leaving a bad taste in my mouth. I think it's a double standard that needs to be called out, since demeaning serious topics in serious shows and movies only hurts victims of sexual abuse.

I don't think The Joker 2 having Joker be raped and sexually abused was necessary, and it feels done out of spite.

I might watch The Joker 2 to form a more elaborate opinion and judge how good the portrayals were, but I find it an unnecessary change to the Joker character. If you wanted to make a movie about a male victim of sexual abuse or rape, you should have done another movie because doing it to this character feels spiteful and wrong.

Sorry for the big rant, I am very salty.

New Digital Circus episode dropped and I gotta say that it is very good. The last episode was already an upgrade from the first one and this one just stepped up the game even further and developed the characters to a notable degree. Really glad that they are trying this hard.
I also am definitely liking it more than Murder Drones. MD was all over the place with the lore and story progression, not giving us any normal intermissions. TaDC has a very consistent pace and story and characters who get more and more developed now.
