Unpopular Opinions and (Friendly) Rant thread

Honestly, some of our worst cases wouldn't immediately generate a reaction, since most people forgot. Over 6 years ago, The Everlasting, as an admin
Told an underaged, banned user, that he'd unban them if they did horse ERP with him.
Forgot about that one, I wasn't well known back then and the forum was larger due to being on fandom, i was mostly in a few circles.

Youre lying to me, this was 6 years ago?? Holy shit this is unreal.

Lukewarm take: patenting things is ass and we should reject the idea of patenting something
Hotter Take: Patents are nice, and copyright should have similar limits to it. Plus, both of them should be rendered public domain in a country if a product utilising them isn't reasonably accessible there from the original rightsholder.

Am I the only one who finds videos that are tilted like, "Why insert thing here is the worst thing made." or "Why insert thing here is best thing made." to be pretty pretentious when spoken aloud?

Like I see this all the time in the video essay genre of YouTube and while I acknowledge that the vast majority of those videos are the opinions of the poster, I can't help but think something being titled like that makes it sound like it's suppose to be some sort of objective opinion to have.

I remember when that happened, since I was on VBW back when the old forum was still a thing. To this day, it still makes me wonder how someone thought that having power on a power scaling wiki of all places gave them the ego to force others into indulging their personal and blatantly disgusting fetishes.

People like that seek any kind of power over others. That's why domestic abuse happens so often, you abuse trust or familiar bonds or age difference to force your own will onto another person. In this case, they tried to use a small bit of power they thought they had to get off.

Ain't that the unfortunate truth? It doesn't happen with everyone, but it's disheartening to see people degrade and become shitty people just because they acquire power, regardless of how little that power actually holds. Especially on an internet forum like this, where that power doesn't exist anywhere except for here.

Though given guy was trying to indulge in a blatantly degenerate fetish with a minor in this context, that power he was given simply brought it out when he kept it hidden.

They are rather fun to watch and sometimes the poster does have interesting points to consider. But yeah, a good chunk of the time it's just "it's good because I like it", "it's bad because I didn't like it" and talk like certain elements or designs are inherently good or bad despite depending on execution.

The ones I find a bit insufferable are the whole "modern games suck", "remakes suck", "things had soul in the years back", "things were better in my day because I enjoyed things back then". Like, no f*cking shit, you were an easily impressed stupid kid back then, we all were at some point".

(Likely?) unpopular opinion: The Amazing Digital Circus is underappreciated on this forum.

Episode 4 premieres in about 5 minutes from now, & I do not think I have seen enough hype for it here:

Jobs are actually fun (I am a network engineer and getting paid)

Jobless people should have no say in this shit.
