RP • A Country Divided Thread

Mark ate happily, he knew he couldn't force Alex and Palaria's relationship, he probably should have said something else but he let time help him, he can't paint his sister as one of the best things in the universe, just tell the truth about how was she and stuff.

"this is soo good" he said as he continued eating
"Mmmm..." Palaria grunted in response, clearly hungry but not really digging in

Alex prepared something different, simple and light things for the others, juice and sandwiches with different ingredients, she really didn't know what to prepare for the others.
"Mmmm..." Palaria grunted in response, clearly hungry but not really digging in
Mark continues to eat quietly, hoping that after a while, Palaria will finish the 5 stages of the duel.

Palaria eventually finished as much as she'd take, which clearly wasn't enough to fill her stomach as she sat down and put her face into her arms

Mark finished his completely, he didn't know what to do, he really wish his father was here, Rashek would have something to say that would help him but he wasn't, and the only thing he can do now is try to be there for Palaria.

Goliath, who had been resting against a nearby wall, glanced at Alex. He raised an eyebrow, having not interacted with the girl previously, but nodded nonetheless. Slowly, he reached out a large hand, grasping the tray.

"....Thank you..." Goliath said.

Lazarus was busy in the living room, grinding up the plants he had grown into his mortar before pouring water into the concoction, the liquid taking an odd, dark blue appearance as he continued to stir. Despite his relatively crude instruments, his work was clearly that of a master.

"Hey, Ryan and Goliath, want a sandwich?" she said as she showed them both a tray of sandwiches and a pitcher of orange juice
"Naw, I've got some work to do on my arm," Ryan said, a few sparks coming out of his mechanical arm, the sparks soon ceasing.

"Thanks for the offer, though."

Cain eventually walked back into the house, a few black splotches under her eyes from crying while her eyes were also partially red, the girl letting out a few hiccups as she simply laid on the couch.

Dhei would want to stay somewhere near Cain on the couch, though he decided to just stay somewhere else instead, since he couldnt come up with a reason for staying so close, taking up his glass of water with as well and sitting down sighing

Lazarus continued to mix his potion, pouring it into a bottle for closing a lid. Out of the corner of his eye, he glanced at Cain. Black blood began pouring down his mouth, but he quickly wiped it away.

"...It's overwhelming, isn't it?" Lazarus said, cackling to himself quietly.

"...To have spent so much time cursed with the appearance of a demon. To now have the....freedom, to look human."

"... Your brain is probably used to moving around in such a....heavy body. It will take time to adjust to going into an entirely new shape." Lazarus said, a toothy grin on his face as he scratched his skin slightly, absentmindedly digging his fingers into his weak flesh as black blood flowed down his arms.

"...Took me time to adjust after my experiment, so I imagine it's the same way when turning back..." He said.

"....Before I was able to do this, I could barely talk. Thinking was hard, and my body barely listened to me... Like I was some sort of infant... My hands were also way larger than this... Probably as big as Goliath's..." Cain murmured, "I don't think I ever really adjusted as you did... I think I'm just starting to adjust, really... Your bleeding, by the way."

Lazarus looked down at his arms, absentmindedly wiping the blood away with his hands.

"....I got lucky...if you can call it luck." Lazarus said, wiping his blackened hands on the couch. He reached towards the table, lifting the potion he had been crafting.

"...When I first turned...I was just like you. My body was barely even functional....and my brain was addled and decayed."

"...I managed to figure out how to make some...basic medication. They keep my body moving. Keep my mind from slipping into nothingness. That's the only reason I'm alive today..." He said quietly.

"...even now, I'd die if I don't take this. My body...isn't strong enough to sustain itself on its own." Lazarus said. His gravelly voice took on a somber tone as he continued to stare at the bottle in his hand.

"If I had some of that stuff before maybe I wouldn't have been so brain dead..." Cain murmured, not at all joking as it was clear she didn't like herself when she was like... that.

He watches Lazarus talking with her, not taking his eyes away from him as he kept munching on the sandwhich piece he took the bite from
Alex stood there beside the werewolf, just looking at Dhei and then at Lazarus, waiting until Dhei finished chewing on his sandwich.

"I never thought he would see you jealous, at least not so soon" Alex muttered holding back a laugh.

Lazarus sighed.

"....I heard of you, before I met you..." Lazarus said, a cackle escaping his lips as he downed a bit of the bottle. He placed it on the table, staring at Cain.

"...I'm surprised to hear you that you managed to get past your early years without medication....considering your line of work."

After swallowing the chewed sandwhich he replied to Alex

"Im not jealous....i dont like him...thats all"

Then shoves the last piece in his mouth and munches on it, he didnt took his eyes from him ever since

"Well, it's to be expected, he has Mallak's corruption touch like Cain" Alex said, she had been making comparisons between the demons they faced with Cain and Lazarus, noting that while there was a difference, there were also similarities

"Well, money was short... Not like I could've just walked around and expected to live a normal life... I had to get really, really good at fighting..." Cain murmured, "What a joke..."

When finished eating he spoke again

"Cain is different though, she didnt turn out like him, despite being both traumatized by Malak....turned into demons...sharing the same pain and....being....so much alike...with...one...another....talking...together...."

Slowly Dhei realized the two were so much alike and had things in common, it made him get sad suddenly

"What do i have in comparison...."

"Well, money was short... Not like I could've just walked around and expected to live a normal life... I had to get really, really good at fighting..." Cain murmured, "What a joke..."
Lazarus cackled, a deep, loud sound that echoed in the house.

"..My body was much too weak to fight. Even now...these frail bones can barely hold a sword...." Lazarus said. He glanced down at his gnarled hands, a kind of bitterness overtaking him.

"...I suppose we differ in that respect. I...isolated myself completely from society, after the...event. I had no need for money."

"Heh, maybe I should've gone for that instead of the whole assassin business, then... Would've been easier, at least. Maybe I was just too stupid to think of it... Not like I could hide very well, cause... yknow." Cain transformed back into demon form, her clothes seeping back into her body since they were made of her skin.

"I looked like this."

Lazarus nodded, cackling a bit as he took another swig of his medicine.

"...I mostly traveled a night. Hiding in caves and the like. Stuck away from more populated areas. It's difficult to hide...but I managed to scrape by."

"Though... I'd occasionally get harassed by knights in the like, like you're friend over there..." He said pointing a gnarled finger at Claria.

"... something's coming." Palaria said, her voice low
Goliath's gaze shifted to Palaria, his eyes hard.

"...Do you....know what...it is?" he muttered.

"Something's coming? Any idea what?" Ryan asked, stopping himself as he was about to head off to his room.

"......" Cain was silent, simply sitting up. "We'll have to continue our chat later..."

"You don't have to be the same, no matter your race or background, as long both feel the same, that's what matters, love is not only about what you have in common with that person, but also about how willing are you to sacrifice for that person" Alex said trying to encourage the werewolf
"She said she doesnt like me that way....with him around now where she can relate better with....what if she falls for him later on...."

Says still sad about the thought and drank the whole glass of water
"... something's coming." Palaria said, her voice low
Upon hearing this Dhei stood up immediately and looked at where there was a sound he could pick up coming

"We need to leave, now!" Palaria said, immediately rushing everyone out the door as a loud thudding began approaching the house at breakneck speeds

Goliath stared at Palaria for a moment, before hastily moving through the doorway.

Lazarus nodded, grabbing his potion and storing it in his pocket dimension before rushing through the door himself.

"..Is this group attacked often?" Lazarus said, seemingly surprised they encountered danger so soon.

Cain immediately moved, bursting through the door as Ryan followed as best he could.

"W-Wait up! Don't trash my house!!" Ryan shouted, Cain having broken the door frame with her horns.
