Pokemon God Tiers Downgrade (or Upgrade?)

As I said, I don't have an issue with the ratings themselves.

Just add the quotes/scans to the blog so it's easier to find them

Understansing something doesn't mean I agree with it.

Yes, I do. Claiming Pokemon is 300 million universes into 2-B for that reason is wrong. It was said Pokemon is still 2-B without that. So we don't need a meta-fictional justifcation for it.

Metafictional justification gives a higher yield tho

That's the problem I have. I don't care if it gives it a higher yield or a lower yield. I care about it being a legitimate reason, which it is not either way.

It's hardly even metafiction. I don't like metafiction, but having each copy of the game being a universe doesn't break the lore or dive too deeply into metafiction. The player enters an alternate reality and all the actions they take are part of that reality. The universe doesn't spawn in because of the game copy, but rather it already exists and you, the player, enter it at a set point.

300M+ is an extreme lowball tbh, but that number MUST exist in order for the players to enter that number of worlds.

The Pokemon Multiverse is undoubtably 2-B. The only question is whether the CT pervade the entire Multiverse as a single entity, or are unique to each individual universe.
Dialga and Palkia have their own personal universes.

DialgaUniverse
Palkia-ow

Sorry, I don't follow. 300M is based on copies sold. That's where the number comes from. If the universes already exist regardless of copies sold, we cannot use copies sold as a reason to establish an imaginary high-ball (or low-ball, as it doesn't matter which we use it's still bad practice).

No I'm not. Games = universes. Fine. Roughly 300M copies sold = the minimum number of universes in Pokemon is not a reason to be listed as justification. Rather, it's the fact that a undefined number of realities exist. No low end or high end can be defined here without resorting to using unreliable data like number of games made or number of games sold. The point is an innumerable number of universes exist regardless of the number we define.

If anything this would upgrade Pokemon, not downgrade it.

I mean, the copies sold is more a supporting thing than anything.

It's basically "countless universes, but 300 millions at the very least"

It can't be used at all. That number is not reliable. Especially when it keeps growing. If something destroyed the entire Multiverse, that won't stop the number of universes from remaining the same, that means we can't use it. It's unreliable because we know fiction doesn't impact reality.

If the multiverse was destroyed, it would only render the information irrelevant/outdated to pre-destroyed multiverse, not unusable.

The pokémon multiverse already has statements of "countless worlds", also in SUMO we discovered the existence of alternative worlds where the villains of each game achieved their goal.

The Pokémon multiverse is not limited to the number of games sold.

Hmm. Yeah, I guese that works. Thanks.

Huh? No, you're fine Cal. If we're already treating Pokemon has countlessly above 300M, I guess that's fine. Pritti said she has an argument for 2-A Pokemon anyway so I'll leave it to the knowledgeable Pokefans.

Is there any legitimate reason for it to be wrong or was this thread made because of "idk feels weird bro"?

All of the main canon games that are different from each other are considered to be timelines, the number of copies of the same game =/= different timelines.

By this logic, you might as well give this to every fictional verse that is video game-related and has sold a vast number of copies up to this point and inb4 "No, it doesn't work like that."

Nani?!?!?! 2-A?!?!?!?!?! This can either be really good or really bad lol.

But yeah, we've been treating Pokémon as massively above that number, even without counting Ultra Wormholes and the like.

I gave my reason about twice or thrice.

Also, let me tell you something.

You or anyone else strongly opposing a CRT, doesn't mean everyone else needs to bow down and accept it or that they are wrong because of it, like the OP condescendingly implies.

I can oppose a FTL Naruto upgrade all I want, but if the series suddenly gets several feats on that level in the new manga, I would be wrong in opposing it, no matter what perceived status I have on the verse. And that applies to everyone else who manages a verse in this wiki.

The real question is why do we assume that Arceus created the entire multiverse, instead of each individual one having their own Arceus

To be fair, its kinda understandable if you take the games at face value tbh, if there was someone who said Arceus was Meteor level tho...

Actually, what is the justification for the multiple arceus?

...Arcei? Arceuses?

I don't strongly oppose the idea, nor am I implying everyone else needs to bow down and accept my argument because they are wrong. I did not say that and I certainly did not imply that. If I did, I wouldn't have conceded so easily after SD explained it a second time.

I'm not even knowledgeable on Pokemon. Never said I was. I am not preventing anyway from revising Sonic eithet nor have I ever participated in a single Godzilla revision thread despite my knowledge of it and it being my favorite verse. Who are you lecturing at? Matt opposed it and he's not even here and I conceded fairly easily. You can ask SomebodyData who was the one gave the fine details. I'm completely fine with that. Discussion is good.

@Zephyros Among a few other things, I think some people take it to mean that since you can capture Arceus in the game, that would mean other people capturing Arceus... Arcei... Er, others doing it as well would mean that they are thus capturing the Arceus residing in their respective universe (since each copy is considered a universe).

I'm no expert on Pokemon lore - this just feels to me like one of those "bomb questions" that may be just waiting to go at some point in the future.

inb4 the parallel dimensions statement is english only or referring to something else and everything we know is wrong

@Zephyros "since you can capture Arceus in the game, that would mean other people capturing Arceus"
It's actually impossible to capture Arceus in the games, since the event about the Hall of Origin was never released, and was replaced by the HG/SS event.
Basically the capture of Arceus isn't canon.

@Sera

Take this to my wall if you will, but your OP came across as really condescending.

> Matt and I strongly opposed this, so I'm surprised it was actually accepted. Please, I'd like reliable in-universe justifications for Multiversal Pokemon, thank you.

Yes, you did say you strongly" opposed it, and that you were surprised it was accepted because of that. You also diminished the discussion at hand with that last sentence.
