General DC Comics Discussion Thread

The darkness that destroyed me was a silver of their power not the great darkness is a silver of UDM.

TGD IS not aspect or avatar of lucifer, lucifer is TGD.
If you look other way around the deadly green event is more like lucifer showing what he has ever been just like in the 2018 comic, and ofcourse the last one shown is lucifer like that average fiction cliche where villain show his true face after showing all his other faces throughout history
I remember when it transformed into Lucifer it seemed to refer the dark realm (TGD) as its door. Not anything major just found that interesting.

Which Darkness destroyed Giovanni? Great Darkness, right? It's the same Darkness.
Here’s the problem tho, the context of darkness is what will matter. For example, in Lucifer 2018, they literally referred Lucifer being the darkness, opposite of Presence’s light.

So by your argument, Lucifer would be TGD since he’s outright stated to be the darkness of the Presence’s light. In fact it will make more sense than TGD being a silver of Upside Down Man’s power.

The whole "sliver" thing was always iffy. Lucifer (2018) was extremely concrete about the original Swamp Thing Great Darkness being one of Lucifer's avatars and Lucifer being perfect darkness that is the opposite of the perfect light of the Presence. This even directly mirrors the Light/Darkness origin story from Infinite Frontier.

The Deadly Green scene where the Darkness shifts through Avatars and finally transforms to Lucifer does not necessitate that we interpret Lucifer as being an avatar, nor that he is on the same level as UDM and Trigon. That comic was written by Dan Watters who wrote Lucifer, it's not prudent to think he up-ended his own story for no reason. More accurately, it's likely that the fact that he transformed into Lucifer last is indicative of his true identity.

I had a more thorough post on this, but I agree that the UDM profile needs to be corrected because the scaling to the Great Darkness was always pretty ridiculous.

i dont think so, debate above us is the proof
If we don't there's no reason to debate here, that would just clog up the thread. If anyone feels like changing this then they can make a CRT, though waiting for the split to end first would be better. Once the split ends, TGD from JLD, Vertigo, and Deadly Green would be different.

Its because he tore apart distance and time with those wings
Tearing distance and time is Immeasurable? Then why don't we give guys who not only tore them but actually destroyed them Immeasurable? Pretty confusing standards indeed.

Also, the scan for him tearing space and time also says he viewed them as illusions, and another scan said Lucifer viewed them as a book. I think those can be used for his Low 1-C rating(in the split).

this was when immeasurable speed was acceptable back then so yeah

iv'e never seen a character who can literally destroy linear time before. only people who are beyond linear time

actually nvm i remember there was a thread about TGD is Lucifer, if i remember correctly its accepted but profiles 2000-2016 and 2018 are separate

Can I see it?
To be more specific, the comic itself didn't say TGD is an avatar of Lucifer, the comic showed some versions that Lucifer could be and the Great Darkness was one of them.

Even then, we know TGD's hand(which was what the comic showed) is Empty Hand from JLI, so applying our current knowledge to that, the comic was only referencing Empty Hand.

Well, that arm could also just be another beast form of lucifer. You know, something similar to real life depictions of the devil.
