So they “retract the joke” but still sort of keep the episode number the way they are and try to avoid the issue

Liam Swan says Star-lord is moving from a high end "street level" character having a herald tier gun to a full herald killing a space dragon and planet-sized monsters.

Dang, did I miss something from the comics?

Seems to pretty dead right now, so I thought to give my review for the first half of Season 9 before I forget.

Harley vs Jinx: 4 out of 5 stars
Underrated episode honestly, despite some questionable scaling and feats (using trailers, ads, and non-canon Arcane for Jinx), I'm fine with the verdict. The animation and the track were great, the climax was great and really well done, I especially loved the Arcane styled effects towards the end. Sadly, it did not get the views they probably were looking for, but it could've been worse. A lot worse. Hopefully one day, some reactor or Twitter discovers this and it becomes a sleeper hit.

Wanda vs Zatanna: 4 out of 5 stars

I actually quite like the episode, I think they portrayed both characters well, two of the most powerful characters ever featured in Death Battle. The track was great and whimsical. The animation had a lot of good moments like the Avengers vs Justice League part, Wanda getting punched by Superman, and the No More Witches klll spell.
The biggest con of this episode is how Zatanna-centric the fight was. She literally was the main character when you think about it. Z had complete control over the fight. She had the Megamind reference!! Z never got hurt after the first minute! I think Wanda needed a cool scene of her own and a couple more hits in honestly. Still, a very solid episode.

Tanjiro vs Jonathan: 3 out of 5 stars

I was a bit harsh on this episode when it came out, considered it a 2 star episode at the time, however, it has since grown on me a bit. I think the track could've pack a bit more of a punch and think they could've improved the effects like the water style. Jonathan's sprite models were too poor to overlook however, and some of the close-up sprite shots were just ugly to see. The sad ending was a bit too goofy for my liking, with the cartoony tears effects on Jonathan's face. I love the idea, but the execution not so much. The voice acting was amazing and it had some moments, enough for me to save it from a bad rating.

Thor vs Vegeta: 4.5 out of 5 stars

Honestly, I don't have much to say about this one. The voice acting was amazing, the song awesome, and animation was great. No real complaints, other than they should've just given Thor the Thorforce/Odinforce, rather than rely on some multipliers and scaling to the Hulk, which they established in Broly vs Hulk that SSJ3 Goku is stronger than the Hulk, so that's a bit confusing.

Omni-Man vs Homelander: 4.5 out of 5 stars

The show's most successful episode since Goku vs Superman 2 is well deserving of it's popularity and praise. The animation was great, the kill gruesome, the best fight set up to a fight in a very long time, and pretty great presentation and analysis. I do not have any complaints about this one, only nitpicks. Like many, I do think the fight could've lasted a bit longer, I would have included a part of Omni-Man throwing HL through buildings and/or have HL used the bystanders watching them fight as meat shields and throwing them at Omni-Man out of desperation. I think it needed at least one more sequence to make it really stand out. Though, this is one of the few fights that it's understandable why it's on the shorter side, it's completely one-sided. Other than that, one of the best episodes that show has ever have and I'll be happy to see Omni-Man come back in the near future against Bardock!

Magneto vs Tetsuo: 4.5 out of 5 stars

Another great solid episode, exceeded my expectations. Ego Death is just so good. The fight animation great, the character rundown great, yeah this episode is great. This episode got the somber/sad ending right, better than Tanjojo IMO.

Hercules vs Sun Wukong: 4 out of 5 stars

Really great episode, I love how unique it was with the narrator and climax was amazing, I did not expect that. The voice actors did a great job, they included a lot of stuff in that 3 minute animation. I hope we get more unique episodes like this in the future. I think they could've included a bit more on the analysis, but that's just me.

Boba Fett vs Predator: 3 out of 5 stars

I liked this episode more than I expected to. The H2H segments were really good and I liked the use of the weapons and tech (Predator using Boba's voice, getting rid of the jetback, Boba's stick etc). However, the climax is weak and confusing. Once Boba uses the light saber, it kinda falls apart and it makes the ending confusing. I guess there was a time-skip, how did Boba escape? He dug a hole? Still, 2/3 of the fight was great which is far better than 0/3 being good. Solid voice acting, solid analysis.

Bonus episode
Excalibur vs Raiden: 4 out of 5 stars

I went in with low expectations and I expected to roll my eyes on the obvious commercial episode, but I ended up really enjoying it. I do like the approach they took with this episode. Even the Wiz and Boomstick cameo I ended up chuckling at. The song was pretty good and the animation pretty solid. It was nice to see Raiden back in Death Battle after so many years and while it wasn't Wolverine vs Raiden, it didn't need to be. Fast-paced action fight with some memes and jokes thrown in, I think Death Battle did a great job with this particular episode.

So yeah, really great start to this season. I think it's safe to say that this season is starting much better than the previous two seasons.

Interested to hear your thoughts on season 7 again.
Ah S7
how can i put this way
mjf-aew.gif

yeah im not gonna sugercoat it
when it was good it was good and when it was bad oof
point of any season is to make sure there's enough good to outweigh the bad and sadly S7 pros weren't strong enough to ignore the shit we got in it

for the Good/Decent(Hulk vs Broly,Obi Wan vs Kakashi,Goro vs Machamp,Static vs Miles,Cable vs Booster, Beerus vs Galaxia Flash vs Sonic (despite some of it wasted potential) Red hood vs Winter Soldier,Leonardo vs Jason, Sabre vs Jon and Danny vs Jake IMO

the rest were either Average, utter shit or me just not caring at all for it
What season do you think the team drop the ball the most
S7
and back in old era S3

S7 mainly because despite having many episodes half of them were spent of Capeshit and some of those Capeshit MU were ZZZZ

S7 should've been wat S9 be and introduce tons of new franchises instead only a few were introduced and we had the least used Vidya reps in a season
it baffles me how they didn't realize that were going balls deep in Capeshit until it was too late
it thanks to S7 folks developed PTSD anytime an episode features a Capeshit MU they may hate the annoyance and complaints but guess what
when you do dumbshit it always come back to bite u

S3 was also disappointing because when you came off from the shows suppose peak season and start off hot with Dante vs Bayonetta u think "oh boy we are getting another great season" man u be surprise how ass the season was

Hulk vs Doomsday, Ratchet and Clank vs Jak an Dexter and Dante vs Bayo are the only episodes that reach Great
while only like two or maybe three episodes were decent with the rest being meh to outright ass

Mewtwo vs Shadow and Bowser vs Ganondorf had two characters(Shadow and Bowser) get treated like utter shit and said episodes were among the worst of the shows history

doesn't help the season ending off in one of the worst finales that was Deadpool vs Pinkie Pie
