DEATH BATTLE! Discussion Thread (All-time Death Battle Spoilers Alert)

I wonder how many episodes after this one for the next CSM and JJK episode since both series' anime are still running and all.
I could see Power vs Foo Fighters next year, cause that feels about right.

There not wasting an episode on either characters let's be real

IDK, Chainsaw Man is still pretty popular and we're kinda near the end of actual useable characters for a death battle. It's like Power and Asa and then you have to do retrains of already used matchups. I could see Makima or Denji coming back but they're not going to do that any time soon.
They wasted an episode on Genshin, so idk
That episode is a waste not because it's Genshin but because they picked the ducking Traveler of all characters. There is a hypothetical where a Genshin matchup would be actually cool, but it's not, cause it's the Traveler a guy without a personality.
Doesn't help that they have him going up against retrain Aang, like at least if it was WoL at least him being a character you project a personality onto could be the point.

but it's not, cause it's the Traveler a guy without a personality.
Or girl.

The problem with Traveler vs Aang is no that one character don't have personality, he atleast have a interessing story and powers to write about on a analysis.

Is because Is a stomp. Kinda of a waste🤷‍♂️

Power is popular but she doesn't have a mu that's screams bring her on not are they wasting it on side character like foo esp when we still have other notable JJBA rep to use

I'd argue it can be both. The Traveler is a self-insert who you're supposed to project your own feelings onto, so he/she barely has a personality, which doesn't help the already one-sided matchup that depends heavily on how you scale a movie that isn't even officially out yet. A matchup can be bad for a variety of reasons at the same time.
Me personally, I still think a retread of an old character vs. a guy who has no personality is what I have a bigger problem with personally, but "it's also a stomp" doesn't help either.

Look I'm more thinking about this on a "Chainsawman is one of the most popular series in the world. It's getting a new season next season. Death Battle is probably going to want to make another episode about the series but the selection of characters is pretty slim." Also that's more a JoJo representation problem and less of a CSM problem.

Thrall vs Aang is better, sue me

Dawg I'd love to see the WoL brought up in Death Battle but I know it's never going to happen. It'd be even better if they showed up to dogwalk Traveler but it's too much to ask for with modern DB.

Speaking of which: Of the last few seasons which had the most fun discussion period for you personally? Looking back I think the Gioker season had some of the best discussions and back and forth in the thread.

Still if you looking at CSM reps currently nothing screams another episode for next let alone power due to her spread

IDK, Power has a decent enough showing of her abilities and remains present in the plot of Part 1 till the end while also actually doing stuff in the spin-off books and promotional material. Like she has a defined powerset that she uses in a fairly creative and versatile way. It's more than I can say about most of the setting.
Unless we're going to get Makima 2: The Revenge, I think Power has the highest likelihood. Foo Fighter is just the character who makes the most scene fighting her.

Oh yeah, I just had a thought. If Yuji's blood were to be dangerous to Denji wouldn't Power's blood just counteract it?

He doesnt have powers blood anymore, he lost all of it against makima
I mean it's death battle, presumably bother characters have minor amounts of compositing so it might be mentioned.
Yuji has controlled a greater mass of blood than power.
The way they attack is also different. Power tends to clot the blood to turn it into piercing weapons, while Yuji uses it as a poisonous water jet
I mean like the fact that Yuji's blood is poisionious and the argument if Denji were to drink it it would be bad.

I have not kept up with the manga, but Denji Man is just Hero of Hell, but with Denji taking over instead, right?

It is kind of cool how despite Prime and Sentry not typically being common characters that they just happened to both be the main characters of their own books as the next episode comes out. Feels like fate. And with the most recent issue of Superman setting up Manchester Black trying to bring back Prime's old evil self so he can retcon the entire universe into being more like the real world it fits with the Void trying to break down Sentry.

Lowkey AangTraveler is not even that bad MU when compared to the thousands of MUs posted on r/DBM. Its so funny tho that this ep became such a boogieman of boredom in DB talks lol
You mean to tell me that AangTraveler is better than such gems such as [Obscure anime character] vs [Character literally from a fanfic]? Say it isn't so.

Also i come out with a new matchup.

Akhlan VS The Batter (Grime VS OFF)

Connections:

  • Both are non-human protagonists from surreal indie games set in decadent dying worlds, where the inhabitants are either going insane, living in misery, or falling apart due to the nature of their world.
  • Both are closely tied to the creators of their settings (The Batter being a creation of Hugo as father figure. Akhlan being the offspring of Vered and an Endbringer).
  • Both go by names that are more like titles than actual personal names (The Batter literally being his title. Akhlan also being known as The Chiseled One or the Vessel).
  • Both are quiet, stoic, and emotionally detached figures who rarely speak or express themselves (The Batter only speaking when necessary. Akhlan its unable to talk), yet cause massive destruction throughout their journeys.
  • Both erase or destroy the beings they encounter (The Batter purifying the Zones. Akhlan consuming beings through his Black Hole like head, which it is true self).
  • Both seek to bring about the end of their worlds, though for different reasons (The Batter to purify his world and put it out of its misery. And Akhlan to complete his natural cycle as an Endbringer).
  • Both are eventually opposed by a former ally who tries to stop them from completing their apocalyptic goal (The Judge opposing the Batter. Shidra opposing Akhlan).
  • Those fomer allies may succeed in alternative endings (The Judge can win if the player choose to fight with him killing The Batter. Akhlan can be stopped if the player choose Shidra's offer to give up and live among the others begins in this world), thought it wouldn't fix their worlds (The Battle already destroy it killing everyone else. Shindra and everyone's existence its still miserable and will eventually come to and end eventually).
  • In their canon endings, those attempts fail, and both complete their quests (The Batter flipping the OFF switch and erasing the world. Akhlan becomes a gigantic sentient black hole and consumes the world joining with his kind).
