DEATH BATTLE! Discussion Thread (All-time Death Battle Spoilers Alert)

Alright so I know opinions are probably generally soured by how lackluster the actual fighting and animation was, but man that battle was too hilarious for me to hate. Loved the banter between Megamind and Gru, and that ending made my jaw drop out of shock (in a good way). Cool 7/10, probably the weakest of this season so far but I think everything's been enjoyable to watch.

Anyways HOLY SHIT FIIIINALLY

"Eh, I didn't think the episode was that bad, even with the BS Dreamworks was pulling - I wonder what the VS thread thi-"

Luckily probably doesn't seem so. The main thread already has a near half balance of people saying they were disappointed with the other half being '7/10 but it made me laugh'

Also I think this one was probably my least favorite 'writing consists of references' episode in a while. No offense to the VA but you're not gonna outdo Ferrel's original line delivery of that.
no one really thought doom syndicate just nerfed his IQ bro, like lowk

Watch the subreddit defend this
Most of them are just "it's was ok/disappointed" some are calling it bad

I think they will straight out hate it over time. They wanted a 10/10 episode and at most they got a 6/10.

Or it goes the Jason vs Michael route where the crew will give out some excuse(1 year later) and the fanbase just shrugs it off.

Nah, I'm not blaming the animators for this one. Since they're new to the show, then it's unfair for me to judge them when they're starting their tenure.

But even outside the animation being not good, everything else around this episode was horrendous. I thought that Kratos vs Asura had its problems, but Gru vs Megamind makes that shit look like Bowser vs Eggman.
that episode felt like it resented me lol
I think it somehow had worse animation than Megamind vs. the Doom Syndicate
Bruh... not even Clive nor Bakugo gave these levels of heat.

Not that I have any problems with it.

honestly the jank made me smiled and laughed

Well, the signs are there of being a awful episode. The previews atleast.
Seriously we only saw Megamind pull out his base kit from the first movie. No mech, no super suit, no brain bot cages, no Metroman serum, no Stone of Transference + vacuum.

While Gru got pretty much everything that was important for victory and even he barely did anything.

I am so glad I was permabanned from the official discord long ago because I would’ve been so toxic about this and never shutup. They had a hole in one for a fight animation and they STILL ****** it up.

I legitimately cannot comprehend how this episode can be a 6/10

Animation was ass
Track was forgettable
Dialogue/interactions was shallow
The fight took seven coffee breaks for shitty jokes

Anyone who puts it’s on the score is just coping bro holy shit. I don’t even watch death battle for the research anymore. I just watch it for the fight animation and if this is what I’m getting bro, do better.

Does Denji vs Yuji mean that we are we gonna have a repeat of Bardock vs Omniman where they just ******* spoiled the ending of Invincible for show only people lmao. Or how they spoiled Gojo’s death just to make a gag. Or having a line in Dio vs Alucard about all the Joestars dying in part 6 just as part 6’s anime was starting to happen.

Welcome to the club.
Imagine supporting the kickstart just for this Mu and this is what you get lmao
Ok that's pretty messed up when you put it like that. I do feel bad for those who put money into kickstarter and only to see Gru Vs Megamind not meet their expectations.

Also I have to say, using the whole 'Why didn't he use the De-Gun' meme argument for legitimate scaling doesn't sit right with me either? Because that could be used for... every fictional character with a super powerful weapon in existence? The reason he didn't spam the De-Gun was because the writers didn't want him to.
How does yuji even bypass Dennis regen
Outlast him, honestly. Denji would need to constantly drink blood to regen so I guess that's an option?

Yuji’s blood is poisonous, Denji cant consume it. They sorta went over this in Bakugo and Reeze with the formers sweat. And he can use dismantle/Cleave like a psudeo infinity, so idk how he touches Yuji.

Would never happen but it would be incredibly based if the ending of the battle is that Yuji is about to kill Denji so Pochita eats himself to prevent the battle from ever happening. Death Battle then proceeds to delete the video and pretend it never existed.

I will make a slight correction and that is they did bring up the death ray stopping the 10 mile meteor and therefore far stronger than anything Gru survived, but in a black box.

In the same section where they said nothing MM could do would hurt Gru.

Dog what was this episode. I wasn't even a huge fan of either series going into it but the debate was always interesting. I hate that this season has been nothing but matches I don't care for other than CellMetal, and we still have TravelAang waiting. Not to mention damn near back-to-back episode for the same franchise c'moooooon...

Can I share a Gru vs Megamind, that I think is kindaaaaa neat? The fight dynamic is better in this one. Is just the animation that's low budget.
