DEATH BATTLE! Discussion Thread (All-time Death Battle Spoilers Alert)

Its an easy view getter
Asura still has clout and Broly is popular as usual regardless of the incarnation
Plus unlike with Kratosura DA won't have to fight to fix the script here he can have time and more plan the fight
Also Z Broly vs Asura is the type of Good vs Evil fight that I feel would be in DA strengths
I mean, it should have been Z Broly vs Asura from the start. Then Death Battle slept on doing the match for so long Asura became even more obscure, and Z Broly got overshadowed by Super Broly.

I agree but for the latter part
Z-Broly still gets stuff and still gets promoted in merchandise and games Super Broly hasn't made the latter forgettable in the public let alone the DB fanbase
Also helps that Super Broly hasn't done anything since the movie outside appearing in Superhero and some stuff in the manga

Just read the ending of CSM part 2.

Bruh... as both a Sonic and Marvel fan you think I'll be used to (usually lazy) reset endings at this point but this ending is so ass and I can't even appreciate Denji getting a happy conclusion since it came at the expense of his best friend erasing himself from existence who just wanted to be hugged and help Denji achieve his dreams (which ofc Denji won't even remember) plus it kinda defeats the purpose of the manga, if Chainsaw Man never existed in first place...

Still isn't as bad as the worst reset endings in popluar media. Which imo is Umbrella Academy on Netflix but that's a very low bar to pass.

My biased PoV aside, part 2 of CSM had a ok to meh ending but the manga honestly deserved some much better. I suspect CSM was a victim of it's own success which considering what happens to Denji after CSM became popluar in universe, is pretty meta lol!

I remember this tidbit from his message
"This would essentially be my way of bringing my style of combat animation to the channel with full creative control. In the past, I was often animating fights based on scripts I didn’t write, boards I didn’t create, and outcomes I had no real say in"

"With something like Final Round, I’d be able to handle the choreography, pacing, and direction myself from the ground up and focus on making the fights as fun as possible without being boxed in by decisions made earlier in the pipeline."

Personally I feel DA potential was limited under DB
Not to say he didn't have flaws but felt like he didn't have enough time to focus and fix said flaws while working on mu where his strengths weren't going flourish very much

This would kill your average twitter anime "fan"

Dude, Gerard Way how far you have fallen with that ending, atleast doom patrol is good

Hey does anyone like Meruem vs Yujiro Hanma?

Been thinking about this since the DeathBattleCast with Leon vs Jason, and the discussion about contrast MUs. In this case, it's a fight between two characters who consider themselves (and are in their respective stories) "the world's strongest creature." It also satisfies Meruem battling the most powerful man, in this case Yujiro taking the place of Isaac Netero.

They aren't exactly opposites, but it has that same "it's cool" energy that Leon vs Jason and Columbo vs Light (memes aside) have.

Maybe it's just me, but I **** with it. Kars' weird novel version can go fight someone else, and all of Yujiro's opponents have better options (minus Hayato).

Meh. I get what your trying but putting Yujiro agienst Meruem takes away what makes Yujiro an interesting fighter. Like the reason why Yujiro is interesting in a death battle is his raw intelligence. Yujiro is deceptively smart, on a raw level he might be one of the most intelligent fighters when it comes to specifically combat. Putting him up against Meruem basically removes that since Meruem at worst has comparable intelligence to Yujiro while also out stating him in every other category.
Meruem vs Netero as a fight worked because despite having the massive strength and intelligence advantage Netero could bridge the gap with a massive speed advantage. Yujiro got nothing.

So what you're saying is... put Meruem against Dabura Karaba

That's weird. Was it just a DA thing or do all DB animators have no say in that kind of stuff because that sounds really off.

With all the hype surrounding Tomodachi Life, I've been meaning to ask: is Composite Mii vs Composite Xbox Live Avatar a good MU? It's one of those ideas I first had as a kid.

One step closer to a Smash Bros cinematic universe that fans both fear and hope for lol.

StarFox is to Nintendo, kinda like what Darkstalkers is to Capcom tbh. Good to see an underutilized (still alive but the IP has been on pause for years outside crossovers and ports) franchise get major recognition.

Also funny that Nintendo have openly confirmed some of their IPs do in fact exist in the same universe (at least in the movies) but it was StarFox not LoZ that was first to be explicitly shown to share an universe with Super Mario Bros.

Aren't our stats for Yujiro conservative estimates?

Also I'm not getting the intelligence thing, them having comparable smarts sounds like they would play off each other better. The gap between them doesn't seem huge even with our stats for them, and it's not like a hypothetical animated fight would be depicted one-sided like Omnilander.

Super ******* conservative, as a fan of both series, there stats are honestly pretty even ( Yujiro may be higher with multipliers but that’s another thing)

And they are both intelligent in their own ways, Meruem is an academic genius who is able to best the top players in strategic games. Meanwhile Yujiro is a absolute genius when in comes to fighting and martial arts, there is no equal in his own universe. He is at the top.

Honestly, thinking about it I really like this fight, but it’s not gonna happen because death battle hates fun.

Yujiro weird to me because while Baki is far from grounded he never dealt with Ki Like Attacks and other estoric shit compared to other series and whatever

Town-City is the most consistent range most find him in from what I've seen

The biggest issues is folks look at Baki as some comedy series which is why shit like Sportacus vs Yujiro a thing and ignores for the most part Baki is serious
