DEATH BATTLE! Discussion Thread (All-time Death Battle Spoilers Alert)

It was, Poke arguments were really bad, and DB leaned on it being kinda stompy. Mid Yugi monsters being Uni vs most of Ash's monsters being not is a stomp.
Arguments for a Pokemon character being bad? Must be a day that ends in a Y. Thank god Zygarde wasn’t used otherwise we’d have had to deal with 3 weeks of Weekly making the worst arguments ever.

This is probally the only problem I have with the next time 🧐☕

Oh yeah, I forgot that Bakugō was even an option.

Though, it shouldn't really surprise people that really popular character was going to make it into Death Battle. Really should just saved their picks for characters with really unpopular/less known match-ups or obscure characters

I really loved Metal vs Cell. Honestly a solid 9/10 with some nitpicks here and there

Analysis:
  • Spot on for the most part, neutral towards the way base Metal and Neo Metal stats were treated, but I really liked how they handled Cell's Toei stats and how that compares to Metal's multiversal high ends.
  • Cell taking speed like the blog is really funny.
  • They pretty much nailed on the main wincons down right.
  • I really liked how they wrote Metal's analysis in particular. "The most powerful thing he copied was the ability to lie" goes so hard.

Fight:
  • Some of the movements animations are a little janky, especially in the beginning, but it gets better as the fight progresses.
  • Soundtrack is ok ig, I don't mind it being instrumental but it's nothing mind blowing. Serves the tone of the fight well enough.
  • VFX work was amazing. The way they did lights, the way the smoke effects are handled, the mix of 2D fx with 3D stuff, and that scene of Cell walking through smoke.
  • Metal Overlord was cool but not a fan of him dying so quickly.
  • The trade off however is more scene of Super Neo, which honestly is kinda fair given how well they handled him.
  • Choreography was solid and I really liked that they manage to incorporate a lot of their abilities into the fight, mainly Cell. Sad they didn't do self destruct, but I like the addition of his Cell Jrs, his zenkai boosts and all that. It does devolve into just the typical super flash anime fights type of thing but they don't spam it that much
  • I liked how they handled Super Neo and the use of time stop was sparse but really cool. They didn't show of too much of Cell's copied stuff but what they added was nice. Metal Jrs were cute and I love they did the tri beam. Was a pretty funny moment.
  • Banter was surprisingly decent. I like the amount of shit talking they did to one another and it made the fight more entertaining imo.
  • That last clash fake out almost had me ngl, I like that Metal didn't kill Cell in a typical beam clash and it's a really creative use of Metal's deceptions and Super form powers. And that final shot with him crushing Cell's last "cell" is really damn good.

Overall, the fight could use a bit more polish, and some things I'm a bit iffy on, but all in all, they nailed the episode for the most part. Really good send off for Devil Artemis.

Yeah looking at it, BakugoReze cast did even better than CellMetal, and it was waaaay newer cast ep too.

This is an episode where everyone is happy, Sonic fans got their W, although some of them on here still can't grasp the concept that other scaling circles don't buy the same high ends as they do so there's still belly aching, and obviously there will be a few dipshit Dragon Ball fans whiny about Cell losing a fight he was never going to win.

But like overall, everyone seems pretty happy.

I like that the way they handled Cell felt respectful? Even with the obvious power gaps, it still felt like Cell stood a fairly good chance and the fight never felt too one sided on either. And I do like that they hand him win the beam clash, the fake out legit almost had me until that abrupt time stop.

Gonna be real, so far this season has been kind of a dud with these back to back stomps. Animation wise its fine but when we have 3 weeks of absolutely nothing discussion wise in between episodes it really takes out a lot of the enjoyment. Bakugo vs Reze making at least a third of the season have 0 actual debate or discussion is a real bummer.

Cell as a character is hard to portray without him having unfathomable aura.

It's fcking Cell. He's a GOAT villain.

Also, Sonic fans, take the win with the black box immeasurable speed stuff, and stop asking for Death Battle to explain the difference between infinite and immeasurable speed.

Death Battle needs to convey complicated pseudo science to a casual audience. The difference between infinite and immeasurable speed is not only something power scaling made up, its not something that can be explained in a timely understandable manner.

Like trust me, take the win, Death Battle still hasn't fully corrected the Saiyan Beyond God shit but they've stopped bringing it up so thats a dub in my book lmao
