Just rewatched Link vs Cloud 2 and the drop in animation quality between the first third and the rest of the fight, switching from Doovad to Daitomadochi, is eerily similar to Doomslayer vs Chief 2, switching from SXR to DA.

Like as much as I harp on the stale uninventive storyboards I think that good animators can save a bad storyboard but if your animator can't produce a single unjanky shot your fight is kinda fcked.

MCvsDS2 while good, in hindsight, wasnt as gunfighty as it shouldve been. Or would a true gunfight be lame?

Doovad also showed back up in Predator vs Boba Fett to make its best sequence. Now that I think about it, I'm pretty sure he did some sequences in Wick vs Bond too.

Yep, Doovad did the best parts of Wick vs Bond. Dude's a solid silent workhorse, I need to go scour and see if he's done anymore work for DB

Doovad did some work in Akuma vs Shao Kahn but I can't figure out what sequence he did. Either way that entire fight is dogshit so I will just assume bro was busy or sum shit.

But there there wasn't a drop in ChiefSlayer though? Honestly I felt the beginning half was weaker because it was too smooth, it didn't have any impact behind those strikes.

Since eps takes about 15k-18k dollaroos to make iirc
See, that's a little weird to me, because I remember hearing in a cast a while back that it would take "a lot more" than 10-20k to sponsor and get an episode done (someone super chatted that they would do it for their matchup). Maybe they charge extra due to it potentially breaking up their work flow and schedule or something?

I disagree. The first half of the fight felt like it flowed much better with each fighter making use of their arsenals seamlessly and creatively. The second half was just a theme park ride of 'look they are fighting together omhagash lolk chief did the pose look doomslayer caught his rocket'

Chief turned into a dumbass in the second half of the fight and the dialogue went into 'what are we some kind of Death Battle' territory of just one liners.

I actually love ChiefsSlayer 2, for the same reasons that Homelander vs Omni-Man is a favorite. Chief's on the backfoot the whole fight, and by the research and the characterization for both, it really works. Chief believable survives the encounter as long as he does with his tricks, but it's clear from the start, as highlighted by the point-blank gunshot, that he stands no chance against the slayer.

I've also just become more forgiving for jank in in these animations.

I don't think there's anything wrong with any of that, cause it really was cool as shit. It helps in a fight where everyone and their mama knows Chief was eating dirt, even in the first half of the fight the dude was getting bodied. The both of them fighting against the demons of hell gives Chief more time to shine and a breather from the ass-whooping he was recieving.

Also, the rocket catch was the best part of the fight, DA cooked with that and absolutely sold the speed required to run after that. It's something I don't think would work in the first half because of the smoothness that I mentioned.

I don't think Chief did anything dumb in the last part of the fight either when he was basically out of options besides the Spartan Laser. Him going after Slayer with a sneak attack was all he could basically do besides getting TF outta there.

Yeah, its just honestly a fun as hell fight to watch, pun intended. Also love the Spawn and Ghost Rider cameos.

Chief trying to head shot Doomslayer with a pistol after he watched him no sell it 30 seconds ago was profoundly nonsensical. So was going to SMGs just to do the Halo 2 pose after we've seen more powerful weapons do jackshit.

Like obviously if this is your cup of tea then all the power to you but the second half of DS vs MC 2 is nearly all my complaints about modern DB rolled up into a fight. Its dumbed down, its not a fight its like a theme park attraction, and one character doing something cool while the other sits there with their thumb up their ass for no reason I don't find entertaining.

It was Doomslayer feat Master Chief more than anything.

its good but it could've been better

yes

Torrian a solid animator so i don't blame the glaze lol tho i rather talk about what animators would be helpful to add to the crew than just glaze the guy
He's a comedy animator but he did a brief sequence in the DA League of Memes Final and it was godly. He does a lot of lythero animations too. Forget his name, but dude does phenomenal work.

SXR has also been in a lot of episodes but he has truly come into his own within the last year, he's been a delight to watch.

It went from me not being able to tell he was in the episode at all to me going 'oh yep thats SXR'

That was the last time they did a fighting game MU as well, missed opportunity to do any when so many when they were new and fresh around

"Waiter! Waiter! My steak is too juicy, and my lobster is too buttery!"
I think it's pretty disingenuous to cut off what I had said right after. I mentioned that the smoothness shot down the impact behind the strikes, I wasn't calling it bad by any means, cause it was nice to look at.

Again, he was basically out of options here, it was basically a last ditch attempt at trying to do something before the laser was brought out.

Yeah, probably, but I'd just like to say I don't get your complaints. I like having more meat to these battles because they help tell more of a story than just pure fighting. And the point about one character not doing stuff while another does something cool doesn't really work when tacked onto ChiefSlayer since they both did something while the other was also doing something. The exception is the rocket catch run, but be honest, what was Chief supposed to do there.

like look at this guy work how he does his fights and some of the clips for part 2 shows how he understands both characters fighting style and innovating chorography that would be helpful for certain mu

I wonder if Death Battle asks those who got talent around social media to work on their animation at all
