I think it's because saying Universal Cell saga is odd (even if true) thats not even mentioning potentially Uni Frieza saga or god forbid Garlic Jr scaling. They're probably still going to take it into account, so whatever it shouldn't change the outcome.

The dumb thing is, since we accept that in VS its unreasonable to expect characters to always perform X levels of feats and statements therefore they dont need to do them, so... Whats actually contradicting about Uni Cell? Or hell maybe even Uni DBZ Frieza besides common sense lmao

Because alot of anime feats are anime specific filler and weren't the original intent of Toyorama. Like the Manga is Toriyama's original vision while the anime isn't, which makes the stuff from that less "important" to a good chuck of poeple.
To use a non-Dragon Ball example, it'd be like scaling Bleach to Uni by using some random lines from the Bount Arc. Like the Bount arc was not part of Kubo's original vision, it's filler created to by time by the anime staff, so most people wouldn't see that as valid scaling. On the flip side The Blood War anime is supervised specifically by Kubo, in alot of ways it is more in line with his original vision, so using Anime Only content from that series is seen as "valid".

It really is lol except maybe without limiting Metal's attacking preference as much.
But like, yeah, DB made base Sonic cast Large Star last time, and it wasnt too long time ago. Cell's regen is pretty good. I gotta feeling DB is not gonna highball Metal as much as community does. Lowball enough for Cell to outlast? Its possible.

But to engage with your argument without being a complete prick, sure, when engaging with any fictional work, looking past “original author intent” is important, death of the author and all that, but there’s a difference between “original author intent” and the "intent of parties who are not the original author".
If you wrote a book and then a separate party recontextualized that book, the recontextualization is less "valid" when it comes to the original text. A recontextualization can be valid in its own right as a separate piece contextually removed from the original, and under certain circumstances it can even supplement the original text, but there’s a need for us, as rational individuals engaging with a work, to consider the relationship between the original intent of the author, what they wrote and the intent of third parties, before making an interpretation.

I'm 95% certain that 95% of Sonic fans did NOT want Metal vs Cell (that 5% was just the vocal minority).
That being said, Archie Knuckles vs Juggernaut is my preferred Sonic match-up regardless of Knux getting fed to Juggs or not. It would be cool as shit, and at least uses a version of Knuckles that doesn't hesitate to use his more-esoteric powers.
