Just because a character is cool or interesting doesn't mean they fit the Death Battle format. More abstract and less conventional characters are far harder to include unless you take massive liberties in presenting them.

Why? Death Battle Seasons have 16/20 episodes for Season. Having atleast one Dragon Ball matchup on that, wouldn't hurt the season.

I honestly haven’t really seen that in the Death Battle Matchups Subreddit, or in the Fandom wiki forums, so I don’t think it’s fair to lump in every DB community. (Definitely a fair callout to the regular DB subreddit and the twitter community, Godzilla scalers that did relatively nothing wrong were getting flamed like crazy after HulkGoji dropped, giving more ammunition for people like KOTM to use to call all DB fans toxic, among many other issues). The official Champions’ discord is mostly chill af, but it was getting heated at points during CI.

To put it simply, the original Yugioh anime has quite a bit of filler in it however many of said filler parts are well received and remembered by fans fondly. So you can watch them freely and be just fine

Although, yeah I havent checked Wiki forums lately, it might just be regular Reddit issue. R/DBM MUs are so wacky and ass... But in that disharmony there isnt overall as much toxicness there. But even that place iirc had more direct user drama this year, no?

Like the character writing in the fights themselves? If so I would like an explanation, cuz like they were not doing that shit in Hulk vs Godzilla. The only episodes I can think of in 2025 that did that were like Miles vs Deku and Ash vs Yugi, and that’s very in character for them.
Also a little unrelated but a bunch of people are talking about “modern” DB, to those saying so what exactly does that quantify? Does it include like Season 10 or smth or just post Kickstarter stuff?

Goku vs Supes 3 is the first one that felt super super lame to me, so I consider that the start.
Now, yes, there are earlier examples, but those felt genuine for the most part, after Goku vs Supes 3 it just feels the writers are "We have to tone things down, we don't people want to get angry :c"

I give GvS3 a decent enough pass because Death Battle kinda treats each of those two's fights like they all happened before. So this just being an average Tuesday for them due to how often it happens kinda just makes sense to me and avoids trying to figure out how to character assassinate one or another in order to actually get a fight going

My hot take is death battle shouldnt do stomp matchups, ever, even if the connections are really good (not sure if this is a hot take but we had miles vs deku, amongus vs fall guys and blade vs buffy all in the same year (i disagree with the last one but still))
