DB focused too much on roughly the same franchises or mainstream verses, while barely having new ones or doing more reps on those that had so few in nearly 15 years since the show creation and over 200 eps
You would think fate at least would have had 1 or 2 fights, but they didnt

With rounded down, DB has done 200 MUs, thus they have had chance to use roughly 400 different verses.
50 of them are Marvel and 40+ are DC teehee

Even without the overuse of Marvel and DC in some cases, they were gonna get more episodes, issue is that they done too many barebones matches over the years and missed out on others when tje franchises had a boom to it
Like Dio vs Alucard was done around part 6 still running around and Dio was seen in flashbacks too being relevant to the villain in there
Giorno vs Joker was done in time neither had anything new, despite both being like among the most popular characters in both franchises given all the other media they have been appearing at

Talking about overused angle again, are other verses overused in DB? Here is all 5+ times used verses:

Yeah, its kinda hilarious that SF is like, 5th most common verse in DB, but its only been used like 2 times in 8 eight years and only once after 100th ep lol

Let alone fighting games in general, avatar gets a fighter, invincible gets a fighter, lol gets a fighter, warner bros tried a smash bros of their IPs, not to talk about how the big 3 and other classics still running with updates and support to their latest titles

Funny enough looking at most overused non-capeshit list:
DBZ, Sonic & Mario were last used in 2024, they skipped this year.
Naruto & Star Wars were last used in 2023.
LoZ, SF & MK were last used in 2021.
KI was last used in 2020.
Mega Man was last used in 2019, geez.
Only MHA, FF and later Pokemon were used this year, tho MHA did get 2 MUs this year. FF was otherwise last used in 2021 and Pokemon in 2020.
All these verses have skipped years.

Legit Nero gonna be a pain in the ass to handle in a analysis

For her You have to introduce
-The idea of Servants and how they work
-The Throne of Heroes
-Magic and Magecraft (yes, there's a difference)
And then you have to talk about
-Extra and the greater Fate multiverse
-The moon (yes, this is important)
-The higher scaling that comes with the moon cell
All while still needing to cover Nero's story and character arc. Which, again, requires you to already know a few things about the greater Fate lore.
People already make a lot of jokes about how hard it is to get into Fate, which isn't helped by how hilariously vague Fate fans are when it comes to explaining the series.
Nero as the first Fate pick has the potential to unintentionally make this play into the issue.

In Magic Resistance's case, it's kind of the opposite. It's ridiculously broken in cross-verse debates because it applies to anything supernatural, and it's layered resistance/power nullification (which is on top of Servants already having resistance/invulnerability to just about anything).
Both are outdated, but I think Geats is 6D while Nero is 8D on this site. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong.
Fate honestly isn't too complicated; there are just a lot of entries in the franchise. Sure, there is a lot of lore and the cosmology and metaphysics are initiate, but they're explained pretty well as you go through the series.
Unfortunately, as you said, explaining all of that at once might make the franchise seem more complicated to get into/understand than it is.

They should honestly wait on geats vs nero and not do it next year at some point, they should do Saber as the first rep, she is like the most well known character in the series, then you should go and do her other versions
At least with that you introduce some of the basic stuff and what not, when Nero gets her fight you can just do a short summary of what you did from Saber

They've already got half of the year locked in for episodes IIRC from what they said in one of there recent fireside chats, if this MU didn't win I doubt Fate was coming next year. Plus there's the whole Artoria is known for having a bad MU spread, probably a major reason why she hasn't appeared.
Like I said, Fate is basically more R rated Kingdom Hearts but even with just surface research (Saber vs Erza DBC) they've proven to be quite adept at condensing large quantities of information so it'll probably be fine. GeatsNero just kinda vibes so well with everything falling into place,I'm curious to wonder if they're gonna put forth volunteer for researchers like they did with Hulkzilla.

Which is crazy when you remember that Doom vs Gilgamesh was and still is a very popular matchup. But instead they did Lex vs Doom for whatever reason despite Doom vs Gilgamesh being right there.

I really don't get what the thinking behind that was. I can understand doing "literally why" tier matchups that involve bringing in a new franchise like with Magneto vs Tetsuo (though they could've done Accelerator which people also really wanted) but why on earth would you ignore a highly requested matchup that brings a new franchise to DB just for DC vs Marvel matchup #28120?

Iirc, DoomGilgamesh prolly wasnt a big thing? However, when they teased Doom for S8, thats when DoomGilga started to get popular. Mind you, the totally not favoritism having DB Team had already picked Lex so in hindsight thats awkward.

It really does suck to remember that a lot of the DB team are in that incredible weird pop culture bubble where they're familiar with a bunch of 90s and 80s stuff and very specific early 2000s stuff but they know absolute jack shit about anything afterwards. Buffy vs Blade is the most obvious example of this.

Its hard because line between DB missing out on verses and using niche verses can be thin. Geats vs Nero as a MU is absolutely niche, but individually KR & Fate are not. Not to mention, the audience that DB has might not watch some MUs even if they are big. WileTom was relatively small on views side, despite both them being big cartoon characters.

tbf thats much easier given the mu doesn't demand COSMOLOGY UNGA BUNGA to an extent where Nero you kinda need badly but yo have to make it digestible while also trying to balance her story

Well, a lot of those are just costumes you can unlock or DLC you can buy in the Fate/Extella games (though, some of them do represent some of her various forms she has, like her bride form, summer form, Moon Crux, and Saber Venus).
