DEATH BATTLE! Discussion Thread (All-time Death Battle Spoilers Alert)

So I wanna check out if my bias-ism works for others too.

How many here thinks fight was technically great but because you dont like the research you cant put your heart into liking DanteClive?
I really like it. I just can't love the whole package.

It could've dethroned Bowsegg but it stumbled eith the death and stumbled with the research

Devil may cry from how ass this research was 🥀

Genuinely one of the best fights of the KS era but as soon as I saw 11x ftl Dante I knew it was wraps for him. On top of that even though I’m hyped for AshYugi it being so predictable for the next time kind of makes this episode even more underwhelming. At least the fight was close so it’s still a solid 9/10

Dawg ain't no way they said Clive has more methods of manipulating time then Dante 🥀 💔
they say this because all the Ultimate abilities you can use from the Eikons technically freeze time in the gameplay or slow it to a crawl but I was for sure time manip would be given to Dante considering Clive has been frozen by someone else's timestop before too

Surprised by how effects-heavy this one was. Very nice effects (maybe aside from some confusion in the space fight), though, but I figured this being Torrian would focus more on CQC elaborateness like vs Bayo did. Felt more like a DA animation, not a bad thing. There were some good power interactions that stand out, but I'll have to rewatch a few times to see if it holds up beyond a lightshow. Editing in the previews good as usual, albeit better in Dante's section due to having more sources to work with. I don't think any of Clive's friends besides Joshua was mentioned at length if at all, so about as much attention as FF16's game itself gave them.

Too bad it was predictable from that bad stamina argument seeded all the way back in the preview, though. The gist seems to boil down to "Dante NEEDS his Sin Devil Trigger form to last longer in order to win" despite him chain scaling above universal more than Clive and having his own reactive evolution. Correct me if I misremember, but didn't Clive literally die from overexertion like others in his game did? Surely Dante could win a war of attrition given all the ways he has to restore energy and otherwise hold out, assuming he's in danger from stats anyway. Also, downplayed Dante's Time Heart, Bangle of Time, layering, etc -- those aren't even esoteric like the name stuff, it's right in the equipment (not consumables) sections for each game! Yeah, I guess that's one way to be "controversial."

Well, at least Clive was somewhat of an underdog to take the win. It would be very funny if this ep ends up surpassing FF16's sales (3 mil) in views.

orrect me if I misremember, but didn't Clive literally die from overexertion like others in his game did?
Yeah but the fight against Ultima literally lasted from the start of the day until night time soo he does fight for a long time there and we actually don't know if Clive died, its implied but then there are other things to suggest he didn't

Fight was very good. visuals and choreography went crazy. Like other peeps I don't rock crazy with the death. I feel like if Dante faded away slower it would have worked better but idk. The animation is prob just under Spiderman vs Deku for best 3D fight this year imo, mostly because I like the style more in Spiderman vs Deku and have an actual connection to the characters.

Also, mark my words; ash vs yugi is gonna be this years Bowser vs Eggman in terms of ep quality. I'm willing to bet on soul on it 😤

Anyway, Ash vs Yugi is next time. Who do you guys have?
I'm probably going to say Ash due to having a Gengar by the end of the series. Like unironically that with the scaling could probably counter alot of the soul shadow game shit Yugi does.

Yugi ig.

Hax is generally in Yugi's favor. Ash's big improvisation is done via offensive moves which can be blocked.

Ash's stat arguments are generally more dumb, but even with benefit of doubt, Yugi can match if not exceed that.

Its very interpretation heavy fight, but Yugi can potentially stomp really really really bad. Ash's arguments are like 'he has infinite speed, Yugi not' and 'Ash goes to punch Yugi' which both are lame. That and piggybacking from Creation Trio is lame.
