DEATH BATTLE! Discussion Thread (All-time Death Battle Spoilers Alert)

isnt the first matchup happened in this forum b4?

Considering at least two of the DB crew REALLY dislikes the 7DS and thanks to the downfall of the anime, even with 4KoA the franchise is nowhere near as popular as it once was. I doubt it'll be on DB in the future (it doesn't help the author of 7DS/4KoA has a very poor reputation in many places, due to how he writes most of the female characters as well as other "stuff").

Chosen Undead Vs The Dragonborn has to be up there.

Using Dissidia scaling in general its something that shouldn't be taken into account in this fight, its no different than using Marvel VS Capcom or Shin Megami Tensei for scaling Dante to Outerversal.

And this isn't like the Tales's series where each game had characters from previous games appearing as secret bosses in the new ones, or Fire Force and Soul Eater existing in the same universe/world.

Is Dissidia like a crossover? Isn't it like part of the greater Final Fantasy franchise?
And wouldn't using Dissidia be the equivalent of using DMC PoC?

Not quite the same since Dissidia is explicitly a canon both sided in verse crossover that's backed by the top brass at Squeenix (minus the "newest" gacha slop game) which also functions as a prequel to FF1 and it even explains why characters power-levels fluctuate compared to their home universe (e.g the heroes getting amped by the Crystal's while the villians are nerfed by having their transformations sealed away and both are summoned at specific points in their stories). Dissidia is even refernced in other games such as Stranger of Paradise (another FF1 prequel) and the FF7 remake part 2. Tbf having a character that pretty much ties most FF titles together while handing out cross-scaling like candy helps too.

That said Clive doesn't get any 2-A buffs from Dissidia or FFXIV for reasons I already explained above (tl;dr he never appeared in the former and the latter took place in his head).

I predict Dante and Clive will likely start at L2-C and FTL but through multipliers and volume scaling; Dante will reach 2-C to 2-B with MFTL to MFTL+ while Clive gets outmatched peaking at 2-C and MFTL.

Hmm, what about the hax and their inherited abilities? Who takes those two?

@Dust_Collector summed it perfectly:

"Well he ends up dog walking this guy by the end of their fight. Hax wise he's got all the elemental stuff like fire, ice, water, earth, etc..., the light and darkness elements give him some neat stuff like teleportation, time slow, spatial cutting, he can absorb magic to amplify himself, he can absorb other peoples powers (It's how he gains the other elemental powers) and even mimic them to a degree (He could somewhat copy Bahamuts light beams during their fight, not entirely but still), holy magic, healing, flight, non-physical interaction (He can harm and ultimately kill Ultima who exists as as spirit), homing attacks, extrasensory perception, forcefields, etc... So some pretty decent stuff but doesn't compare to Dante."

Essentially Dante has most of Clive's hax and abilities but (more or less) simply better versions of them (e.g Royal Guard > Titan Parry) plus all the esoteric bs of demonic energy. Clive's only major win-cons (from what I know about both characters) is either firming all of Dante's arsenal through sheer willpower and resurrection or absorbing Dante's powers, the former is somewhat plausible but does take alot of assumptions while the latter is not only really situational but you argue it only works on Eikons and even if it did work on Dante, I highly doubt demonic energy would agree with Clive even with willpower shenanigans (similar to what happened to Starfire after she absorbed some of Burning Blaze's power on Josh's channel).

Dante simply has too many weapons and styles up his sleeves and that's not factoring the novels/manga which DB are definitely gonna bring up (especially after Blade Vs Buffy). Clive has to wait until next year for the comprehensive FFXVI lorebook and the gacha slop Dissidia "game" to come out, long after his Death Battle episode.

On a side note, if Dante wins I hope DB shows him adopting Torgal.

This is just me assuming, but given Clive was made very DMC-ish in his gameplay and has a bunch of stuff similar to various stuff from DMC, what if they bite Clive back badly, like a very obvious example his own time stop slashing being ofc Vergil inspired, which makes Dante have experience against it cuz of that

How much blatant hax does Dante have? DB might be picky like with Goji Ultima and interpret less haxy Dante.
