I'm pleasantly surprised to see a Falcom games character on that list. The Trails games are wonderful, despite many entries suffering from stupid localizers doing their best to make their English translations the cringiest thing you have ever read. They deserve more recognition, same with Ys & other Falcom series.
SNK has a devoted fanbase in China that makes amazing animations on the regular. Lotta stuff is on only Bilibili -- I don't think YT has mirrors of Domino_Bertha's work, for example -- but this playlist has many of those gems.

Freddy Fazbear should win over Springtrap IMO. Anyway even though I submitted Freddy, someone submitted Dr. Zomboss and that is my second pick to win, and I also think he is more likely to get on.

There are genuine arguments that can let you get to Continental-Universal FNAF via creation hax but those rely on theories. Basically it’s that the 8-bit mini games and FNAF World are actual worlds made by agony/remnant shenanigans.

Those are valid criticisms of the comic and I agree with them.
But I will disagree with you on the canon thing, I don’t believe that fans or other online nerds dictate what is canon or not. When the writer and company says it’s canon there’s not much you can do about it. There are plenty of canon changes I would make to the franchises I enjoy, but unfortunately I don’t have a say in that.
If we’re going to tackle timeline inconsistencies then we are going to have to downgrade almost every profile on this website, cape or otherwise. If inconsistencies make feats and scaling invalid then this place has some ******* major updating to do.

Characters can have personality without speaking, GF only speaks if you think he is TOYSHK and Puppet only has 2 voicelines in UCN.
If characters needed to audibly speak to have characterization then I guess the Knight from Hollow Knight doesn’t have a character and shouldn’t be on Death Battle.

Orange. I've read the books. Freddy is no different to Chica, Bonnie, Foxy, and about 90% of the characters in FNaF. Why not Bonnie the Bunny? Or Toy Freddy?
FNAF relies on atmosphere and designs, not characters.

1. None of them have the same kind of stealth mastery as Freddy.
2. The other animatronics were described as not wanting to get in Freddy’s way in TWB, implying they treat him as a leader or he is stronger
3. In TWB Freddy is described as the one who causes the hallucinations on walls in FNAF 1, it doesn’t say Chica the Chicken did it.
4. He is the face of the franchise, if he really is the exact same as the rest of the cast it makes more sense to use him.

And that is why the overall preference is William Afton. The man has a character, he does things, you can tell me with some accuracy some things he likes or dislikes.
I think Games Afton sucks, yeah, but there's no way to get around that even counting all side media, he by far has the most personality and characterization in the franchise.

I understand why the desire to have Freddy in a match but yeah no he's not actually a character. Springtrap is the character people want because Afton's the actual main bad of the game. For all intents and purposes Freddy as well as the other main animatronics are just mindless monsters who are nice to kids.
It'd be like trying to make a matchup for a minecraft mob, like a zombies or enderman. They're just monsters who want to kill you, they're don't have actual personalities. Freddy and the gang are the same.

I don't know or care much about Phinaff, but I liked that time William Afton went "AAAAARGH, AAAAARGH!" That Family Comes First fanfilm had some interesting visual ideas going on, too.
Also, this animation of the seemingly stupid matchup of Dio vs Springtrap went surprisingly hard, even if I don't understand what happened at the end.

You know I've been thinking and I think Freddy could work in a death battle is that if it's a team battle with the rest of the animtronics (probably FnaF 1 ones).
IDK maybe the universal monsters. I know Freddy vs Universal Frankenstein goes around occasionally, it's not a great match cause again Freddy doesn't actually have a personality so making it a team matchup could overcome that fact.

imo the comic shouldn't be taken any more seriously than the episode since regardless of canonicity, Godzilla's clearly unstoppable for the sake of the plot, which is the point of the "Destroys/Kills the Marvel Universe" stories to begin with. I don't take it with any less weight than I do with the Predator one because it's not really a serious comic and mainly meant for shock and hype

If Freddy doesn’t have personality and characterization and shouldn’t be on DB because of it, does that mean that Ori vs The Knight is awful and shouldn’t be on the show because they don’t have characterization? The Pokémon Battle Royale happened even though that was just random mons with no personality. I’m not against Springtrap being on the show at all, I just want Freddy on more.

Also a major characteristic of the animatronics in supplementary material is that they want to make other kids like them in order to have “friends” and hate adults since they blame them. The stealth that Freddy has shows that he is more calculating and intelligent than the others which is why I listed it.

Look, the problem isn't just that they're silent, it goes deeper. Ori and The Knight might not talk but the way they move/play, the stories and their general disposition characterize them. Freddy does not share this. Rather than being characterized himself he is used to characterized the setting of Freddy Fazbear's Pizzarea. Freddy is a piece of a puzzle, he contributes to the horror of the game and the "character" of the setting. That's the main problem.
Again I'm going to compare him to Minecraft mobs. Like yes they are iconic but they exist to "characterize" their settings. Minecraft is a near deserted world that the player has free reigns of, but the player can't control everything. Monsters serve to be an ever present threat most players can't predict, at any moment a monster can spawn and jump you. Minecraft Skeletons are iconic but they wouldn't work for a death battle because on their own they're nothing. They don't stand out by themselves.
"But what about the Pokemon", yes they are random creatures but it's different. Pokemon serve as partners to humans so they are intentionally given consistent enough characterizations to make them stand apart from other mons. You can look through the games, anime, cards, manga, books and find fairly consistent ideas of what a specific Pokemon is like. The purpose of a mon is to be a personal companion, so they need distinct personalities, they're not just set dressing for a game. A charizard acts different than that of a Pikachu. A fight with them can work as a result.
And before someone mention Koopa vs Goomba, if it wasn't for the Paper Mario or Mario and Luigi games that match up would suck. Koopa and Goombas are regularly given personalities in non-platformer titles. They're regularly shown to be not mindless drones in side games, if it wasn't for that it'd be like asking for a fight with a generic badnick. Koopa and Goombas have personalities.
