DEATH BATTLE! Discussion Thread (All-time Death Battle Spoilers Alert)

What're some older episodes you'd replace with a Travis matchup from years back to have him appear in around the time he was relevant? Like, I wouldn't lose any sleep if we got Travis vs Scott Pilgrim instead of Scrooge vs Shovel Knight.
If Travis gets Torrian/3D you could get rid of BobaSamus2, GvS2, SheraWW lol

Sprites tbh theres probably too many to list :V

This will probably be the last I talk about the matchup, but I mostly agree with the scaling brought up here by this person. Even though they do go into Fire Force scaling, which I still don't buy, I can at least see where they're coming from.

Weekly, I know neither you nor I are going to be changing each other's minds in this debate but I respect the hustle. I hope you get the perfectly represented battle of a series that you hate that you've wanted.

How does Ruby vs Maka, a MU everyone (well mostly everyone) agrees is a stomp in Maka's favor, have this much discussion going on for page after page? Like hypothetically speaking: even if DB went for the highest possible interpretation and gave Ruby CTB scaling, which would be very disingenuous, then it'd still pale in comparison to Maka's Fire Force scaling.

It's Shadow vs Ryuko all over again, except Ruby lacks the latter's IF arguments.

I'll take a bit of the blame on that one. Soul Eater's one of my favorite series so I just fundamentally disagree with how Weekly scales Maka. I posted a lot during the Gioker days too, but granted we didn't have our Weekly for that matchup.

No worries, I promise not to being annoying again until we finally get ourselves a Fate matchup, or heaven forbid a Honkai Star Rail or Zenless Zone Zero one :V

I meant captain marvel, my bad
Ah, in general, I have list for that in how many eps:
  • Leonardo#2 1
  • Batman#3 2
  • Batman#2 13
  • Vegeta?Fusion 13
  • Goku?Fusion 15
  • Charizard 24
  • Goku+Superman 25
  • Omni-Man 28
  • Deku 28
  • CaptainMarvel 29
We have technicalities of Old Man Bruce being in TerryMiguel when BPBats happened 2 eps later and Goku Vegeta Fusions shortening gaps if counted.

Speaking of Godzilla vs Hulk: I got to tip my hat to DA for doing a really damn good job at replicating Minus One's Atomic Breath scene in the fight. It's the best scene in the entire movie, and I think DA really did a good job with adapting it into the episode.

Honestly, despite some hiccups, I think Godzilla vs Hulk is my favorite episode of the KS season so far. Though I may be biased due to being a fan of the big G and the green goliath.

Because the majority of people claiming that Maka wins by and large do not know what they are talking about and are just using our abysmal soul eater pages as arguments

Not me.

I think Maka wins, and I don't use the profiles(I use the calcs tho). And I know what I talking about.

The sound effect and way he moves is pretty much identical basically, nice

You act like people rely on vs wiki when most outside this bubble either think you can edit whatever you want or critic how characters are rated, i have been in vs community for 10 years by now, barely anyone uses vs wiki profiles

Someone @ me on Discord if Weekly takes the bet, I’ll be flexible with the cash if need be.

HEARTBREAKING: DevilArtemis made his first good Death Battle animation
he had made good ones before

Ruby does in fact win this.

It's not going to happen anytime soon, and it certainly won't happen when Ruby vs Maka rolls around in September.

The episode's going to roll in, Maka will beat Ruby, and hopefully we'll be able to move on towards matches with more debate to it instead of blatantly obvious winners.

I think an aspect of Death Battle predictions that gets lost in the discourse is that it isn't always about what you believe is correct but moreso trying to predict what standards the team will hold the combatants to.

It really can feel like a crapshoot occasionally, and you only have older episodes and cast debates for refrence, but those can be quickly out of date and unreliable to make a call.

I've occasionally risen a brow about why certain things were valid, others were outliers, and why things were only blackbox worthy...or just an interpretation that felt more headcanony than well supported, but that one is the rarest I think?

DB is sometimes very late and episode production takes time. HulkBroly script was apparently ready in February but episode was out in December, just as BowserEggman was written in May/near Mario movie being released in 23 and ep was out much later. Hell, DB Heroes didnt get immeasurable speeds either.

Plus SE been dead since 2013 while RWBY been going on since said year and nothing changed other than high end cosmic scaling being available for Maka now when it was non existent at the time of her og series run.

The outcome ain't gonna change anytime soon when rwby is in production Limbo

Alright, not that i agree with this reasoning but if this is the logic, then this is the poster chid of their former company and the most well known and loved character of their deceased friend and the protagonist of that friend's passion project, and the episode is a major milestone made in honor of him with the matchup itself being the single most wanted matchup if his. Why would Ruby lose?

If a goober like me is able to read through soul eater once and completely shred the scaling ideas people had for years, you think their research team won't do the same?
