DEATH BATTLE! Discussion Thread (All-time Death Battle Spoilers Alert)

God, powerscaling has left people with soup for brains. How is there going to be this much complaining about Godzilla glazing and being overpowered, in a comic called "Godzilla Destroys the Marvel Universe"? What did you guys think was going to happen? This isn't like "Deadpool or Punisher or Predator Kills the Marvel Universe" either, so it's not like Big-G is butchering your childhood characters or anything, it's just a comedic take on the concept, but with Godzilla through Marvel instead.

Seriously, do people think it's the contract? The way that comments are complaining they seem to think that Marvel characters should be one-shotting Godzilla and that any win he gets is a requirement by Toho. Like, no. It's a comic book story, written by people for entertainment value. The people of Marvel are (typically) ambivalent to versus debating, they don't care or think for that matter that every Marvel character is 10 shitzillion times into outerversal.

It's ok to dislike it for not enjoying its entertainment value, or any reason I guess, but seeing powerscaling be the reason to be up in arms over ANYTHING is completely absurd.

So what I'm getting from this is that people legit just did not read this no-name ass novel that powerscalers drool over
load of horseshit this is

the comments already tear apart the whole argument with ease.

Blog's op ignored things so hard he ignored the f-ing prologue.

The SP is specifically an inter-reality hole that is created from a "branch" of it. Op assumes a lot of stuff, ignores other stuff, and overall is just trying to breed agenda.

Mfs will see one random-ass blog that supports their agenda and ignore the rest of the blogs that are far more researched that prove it otherwise. Some of y'all are like the crazy parents that will look up "do vaccines cause autism" and only accept the one shady research paper that says they do and ignore the 10000 that say they don't.

Well... there's also that Godzilla's whole schtick is being this rampaging force of nature that needs to be stopped. That's his most common characterization in movies, unless you go with Showa era craziness. And if you do portray Godzilla that way and he's easily beaten, you'd have no story. I guess you could throw in Ghidorah and have Godzilla work together with other good guys, but only Showa Goji was a true teamplayer that would really get along with his allies.

The contract cope is getting very old.

Ridiculous how people tell bullshit around and people believe in it and spread it around as fact, especially when it involves powerscaling too

Then many wonder why people care about details of any sort involving their characters or series, cuz you make up shit and some may not picture a good image

It was less bullshit and more just ignoring several sections of the book. Also the whole section with putting the head through the universe and a real head emerging is clearly metaphorical unless someone wants to believe the universe in SP is an actual literal river/water.

I cant wait for the DB to be out already I just want it to be over and done so I can forget about it and the entire SP scaling community wouldn't have to sit around and guard it.

As someone who doesn't really have a horse in the race (I'm fine with either winning, though I am slightly rooting more for Hulk), how relevant is SP/Ultima to other matchups with Godzilla characters? Can we expect this kind of discourse anytime a Godzilla character shows up?

not that relevant. Technically Rodan, Anguirus, Manda and Kumonga all have 1-A forms by being entities that exist in the same "realm" as "It"/Godzilla. Problem is they are tributaries of "It" and by themselves they mostly just have matter manipulation and reality warping to some extent. Some future sight, a bit of time travel and HDE.
Out of the ones mentioned the only one likely to get a proper matchup is Rodan and honestly idk if we could use it for him. Godzilla is reasonable since "It" is Godzilla and Ultima is very much like your average Godzilla appearance and action wise. Rodan is not just rodan, it is rodans. There's several rodans in the series from ones barely the size of a human to ones nearly as big as Godzilla Terrestris. In the end the main issue would be that it would kinda work like TOBA for Hulk since Rodan is not "It" but only its tributary.

As someone on the spectrum who has been in and out of that debate, it really comes down to motives and who is funding who.

There's about 700+ reasons not to trust these companies to begin with. My condition doesn't need to be one of them.

This is why I wanted Godzilla vs someone else, because Hulk basically requires a composite (or just Ultima really) to be fair, while other MUs for Godzilla are specific iterations.

Ultima vs Bill Cipher is a big one, while if Godzilla had had the chance to face Cthulhu I would have preferred it to be Heisei exclusive. GMK Godzilla is also paired against Yoru(?) from Chainsaw Man.

DB is trouble for supporters of small verses (or small parts of a verse in this case). 4 days to go and hopefully I can finally forget about the DB and jus focus on working on more revisions.

I need to spread the agenda but I am working on adding Superhuman Era, if anyone wants to help, join me.

One kind of thing I constantly see in comments is “W-well it only happened because the writer wanted it to!”

Like, yeah? That’s how all of fiction works, that’s how ALL feats come to be. Or do people think characters are independent entities that have their own rules and writers breaking those rules makes it invalid?

These are the same people who soyfaced whenever a Sonic character did something impressive in the dc crossover btw.

Bias and hypocrisy go hand to hand in vs
I was told the Godzilla fans were uber toxic though 🤔
Maybe in general, but in DB context, no...t yet.
