DEATH BATTLE! Discussion Thread (All-time Death Battle Spoilers Alert)

there not doing ralph for bakugou
It came to Ben's mind that he brought it up in the DBC and for 2003 feats, so it's definitely being considered when it comes to workshoping his MU. TMNT is also quite popular, especially with the movies. And Liam kinda shut down chances of Rex happening "Rex is like a unevolved fire pokemon compared to Bakugou"

dabi is doable idk on winter being his mu
All between the name dropped above, Iori Yagami and Azula. Fire/Ice dynamic is always cool and winter has a toolkit that can play off well. Fight animation of course already coming with all sorts of ideas, Time Dilation and Phosphor.

So since we've gotten Spider-Man vs Deku, what future MHA characters do you think are likely to happen
It might be biased talking, but I'm willing to bet on Toga vs Neo being the next MHA match. Other than that, Bakugo is also really likely to get an ep. Idk what his most popular is, but Yang and Ralph are prob most likely. All for One is also a gimme, but he doesn't have any mu's that are crazy popular. Dabi is less likely to get on, but if he did, he's def fighting Winter. I prefer Red Hood for him, but I'm 100% in the minority there. Overhaul vs Diavolo was also pretty popular at some point afaik, so that also could happen.

These Herald level Miles videos are something else

Thougths on Intellgience-based MUs and what is your favorite idea?
in concept there fun to theorize and wonder how x and y interact and counter eahc other but you have to really handle those type of mu well without feeling like you making one of them an idiot to glaze the other

you need to understand the character ya using to make it feel balance

people really want Lelouch in the show huh lol

It's a legit good matchup imo. Lelouch Vi Britannia is officially dead and his records scrubbed by the Britannian Royal family, so that gives him some time to figure who Kira is. Lelouch just has to use his Geass, Light just has to become confident Zero is Lelouch Lamperouge is the supposedly dead prince in hiding

I mean due to the nature of Marvel and DC, Miles CAN/does win if you give him more leniency even without chainscaling but it would be VERY hard to justify doing to to a casual audience and even to a lot of powerscalers like us, it just doesn’t feel right. So basically I lowkey agree with Chuck to an extent but he delivers his points in such an obnoxious way that I don’t wanna agree with him.

I learned that from reading Superman gut instinct wins a lot. If some feat happens that doesn't make sense almost every single time I was confounded and felt it wasn't right just for the next page or issue to clarify it or for some WoG to refute a more liberal interpretation of it.

Sure but at the end there not that strong and nor meant to be there by there general narrative

For every time a street tier character has nice feat against big names you'll have bigger moments of them struggling against weaker characters far more often

"imma be honest with people if a character has spent 99 percent of there history being a street level character and intended to be a street leveler narratively, the episode won't scale them to any herald level feats"
Ngl, people throw their common sense out of a window sometimes

I realized that I have a problem with how our attack potency rating benchmarks are done but there is no real solution/answer as it would be so inherently subjective that fine.

Scaling maximalism. I feel VSB is a bit too liberal with its scaling, but it's nothing compared to comic debaters

Might give any examples? Just asking
I don't want to confidently say anything yet because I'm not going to be confident until I read it all, but some DC stuff

Some things we're way too lowballed though, like Godsphere beings should be 1-A

I was about to complain about 5-A dragon ball part 1/early Z but as I mentioned I realized there is just an issue with using GBE as the baseline for celestial body feats

It depends on whether you give them their influence, which I do. Misa and Mikami can help Ligth figure out Lelouch's real name via Shinigami eyes, but Lelouch as Rolo and C.C as support. Also, realistically, Light will be very suspicious once he discovers Zero is a Britannian, which might lead him to dig deeper and further confirm his identity. Like, Lelouch Lamprouge likely has no records of going to elementary school, and why would a man like him fight against his government? That being said, Lelouch will have an easier time getting to him since Geass is super OP in info gathering

True. Intelligence-based MUs are more narrative and character-driven, since personality and many other variables affect the fight

Ngl, I think its very important to consider narrative intent over powerscaling brain rot

Like Attack on Titan scalers scale Eren to mountain level when he is narratively threatened by world war tech.

or Star Wars force users being planet busters.

"Narrative intent"

Oh, NOW we should consider this? Also you would need to nerf capeshitters because aint no way "Outerversal" is narratively intended for them lmao

I think this is a very case-by-case thing. because of course if we took narrative intent to its purest, basically most of the overpowered characters on this wiki would be hard nerfed (and in the case of comic characters- way more inconsistent) but I see how it's more accounted for for lower level ones since they're closer to being grounded in our reality than multiversal reality warpers, and thus subject to more scrutiny since a lot of their feats can be more straightforwardly buffed or nerfed based on calculable numbers

No, we should not have let this shit slide. This cancer is why non-VS Debaters make fun of this, they are right. This is cancer we should not have allowed to spread. This is why we unironically have to talk about that Miles is not a Herald :V

I mean if you think it's that serious, idk what to say. I'm just sharing my view on it from a reasoning perspective

Well, since this is a hobby its not THAT serious lol

But like, I sure would like to be as accurate as possible, but thats not happening. Many characters are allowed high ends because they like characters. Sometimes its also so hard to judge characters that we are just winging it and go by vibes. Unfortunate.
