DEATH BATTLE! Discussion Thread (All-time Death Battle Spoilers Alert)

As a long-time sonic enjoyer, i do not approve of these types of fans, i get second-hand cringe from those kinds of scalers lmao

Do you count later GvS eps in such a way that they invalidate the previous eps? Then it only is 0-1.

I count all eps that happened because... they happened. Also DB updates its stats all the time, but that doesnt mean Goku didnt lose in 2013, 2015 & 2023.
I see 2 as more of a continuation of 1 but in the end, for each one Goku had a possibility of beating Superman as literally any character does. He simply needed the necessary feats / scaling, abilities, experience, and later- cosmology to do so which he could've all gotten before each episode, but didn't, simple as that.

Consul N vs 9S (Xenoblade Chronicles vs NieR: Automata): Liam enjoyed NieR: Automata but only played the first few hours of it. Sam is an old person and has only played the original NieR. Ben remembers having a pitch involving Consul N a while back. They think this is interesting.

Compared to N's other MUs (and yes, bro's MU spreads are BLOATED), 9S is more rap battle material. Yes, the connections are kinda there, but unless someone pulls T1 NieR out of their arse, this MU stat wise is a complete wash.

Mega Man X VS KOS-MOS (Mega Man VS Xenosaga): Liam wants to play Xenosaga at some point, Ben remembers having looked into KOS-MOS ages ago and says she's really strong. The call talks about the Mega Man BR and X's placement in it.

...EXE exists...

Reina Vs Juri (Tekken Vs Street Fighter): "Girl Heihachi." "Girl Heihachi?" Ben's unfamiliar with her because of her being from the most recent Tekken. Liam brings up how people thought Reina could have been Heihachi reincarnated upon her being revealed. Sam brings up that the recent buffs to Tekken as a verse in 8. Liam thinks it's weird that Reina can use a devil form despite not being descended from the part of the Mishima bloodline with the Devil Gene, Sam points out that her being able to fistfight a literal bear is also weird.

Liam didnt read the archives in the game pointing out Heihachi killed all of Kazumi clan supposedly full of devil gene users except one baby girl, which would mean Heihachi had Reina with her later down the line and it cant be Reina whom is that girl, she goes to the same school Jin did and looks too young to be in her 40s-50s

Tooru vs SCP-096 (JoJo's Bizarre Adventure vs SCP): Sam brings up the recent cast for this, says it's a shining example for the effects of a fan push of a matchup. Liam says he has the fight for this mapped out in his head. Ben says to check out the cast and that he had a lot of fun talking about this.

But they cant do it soon given part 7 has yet to be out and Tooru only material to show outside manga is the all star battle R game, plus without an anime yet, not much hype on him to go about yet

Monika vs Mita(Doki Doki Literature Club vs Miside): Ben says that Undertale made it so there's a new "erase the game type game" coming out every few months. Liam likes DDLC. Ben isn't sure if Monika actually fights anyone in-game before remembering she kills the other club members. A chat starts conversations on if Monika is supposed to be a sympathetic character. "Hitler? Not a fan" - Liam. "I've recently discovered that I'm a tradwife." - Sam.

They barely talked about this one outside whether former has any hands, it got wasted

Dante vs Clive (Devil May Cry vs Final Fantasy): Liam and Sam think it's cool. Sam notes that DMC and FF16 both have Ryota Suzuki as combat directors, giving Clive and Dante similar combat styles. The call in general wants to bring Dante back.

Wished Dante had Kratos for a return, is Clive having any cosmological stuff to remotely match with Dante? Hax wise he should match him to a degree

This the same fanbases who kept insisting the crossover was canon and thought Darkseid was just space Zavok. They don't be watching anything else 😭
Wait, fr now!!?
Don't **** with us Sonic fans. We WILL complain about every little thing and hate on our franchise more than you do.

Remember that Time when G1 did the Deku vs Asta blog and tried unironically, saying the fight was close.
Remind me, wasn't the Twitter thread that recently bought up how Deku vs Asta was mid (before WileTom came out) arguing for Uni Black Clover or something?

Is DekuAsta still accurate? Deku got buffs and some Asta stuff was nerfed. Unless last arc of BC got buffs too?

Pals that worked on blog mentioned there were members on deku side pushing an agenda there

Yes Asta still stomps
Far Faster,Stronger etc

The mods on Reddit are working overtime and removing any jokes about Miles Morales Slavery and Blackwhip. They are no fun. The slander is the most interesting part of this matchup.
slander doesn't have to include racism. I get the racist Deku meme but I really don't know why people insist on making actual slave and whip jokes, especially in the context of a Black character who's repeatedly hated on for his race

I’ll never forget one of the points were on the Deku side was “He fights people far faster than him so he can deal with asta massive speed advantage”

Just cuz you fight faster people, it doesnt mean they are as fast as the opponent from the other series, unless they actually roughly same speed

Tbh, Spider situation isnt quite like Green Lantern or Flash situation.

Marvel uses Spider-Gwen, Spider-Noir, Spider-Man 2099, Spider-Ham etc. Why do Peter & Miles have to share the same exact moniker?

Hell, even in DB circles people use Kyle Rainer rather than White Lantern. Normally Id say this is just a video algorithm trick, but its specifically Miles where people get pissed if we want to give him different moniker from Peter.

Gonna be honest, I'm in a bunch of friends groups with differing levels of knowledge for comic characters (casuals to decades of history). I don't think I've ever herd one of them say Spiderman when reffering to Miles, they typically just say his own name when reffering to him. As opposed to Flash who I've herd several people mean a different member of the family when using that name.

Unironically, I don't think it has anything to do with not liking Miles. Hell many of them rep the kid more than Peter depending on the group. I think it just has to do with the fact that the name Spiderman is literally ingrained into Parker's dna to the point where it's impossible to swap it to someone else. Like other characters have had the Batman and Superman mantles, but nobody is reffering to Nightwing when they mention Batman casually.

I think Miles having the Spiderman name is fine, he just needs something to add to it like Miguel for people to latch onto. I've herd many people refer to his hero name as opposed to Miles.

Honestly I see a similar albeit different issue with Gwenpool, as many people just  assume shes another version of Gwen Stacy because of the name + popularity bias. Sometimes a character just steals a name so hard that it's literally impossible to remove the terminology from people's minds.
And I just learned she wasn't Gwen Stacey today.

Tbf, those pretty edgy jokes, probably not the place for them
I mean, if they aren’t coming from a place of genuine hatred and malice, edgy jokes can work. But I can understand why the more common opinion is just “no”.

opinions?

I feel like Iron Fist has the most concrete argument for herald scaling out of any of the Marvel street tiers (we give it to him on this wiki.), and even he didn't get any herald scaling during his episode. Death Battle is generally pretty strict about keeping street tiers as street tiers. I would be very surprised if Miles won because of this.

copy n paste
Nope, nothing but outliers and feats that require more context than anything else. All of these were heavily circumstantial.

Like his fights with Quantum, Miles needed help from Iron Man to weaken Quantum's powers so that Miles can knock him out, second round Miles hit his weak spot, and third Miles instead talked Quantum down. Under no circumstances in the context did it say that Miles matched Quantum in terms of power.

Miles stealing Ares' axe was tactical move, not a power move and therefore in no way does that put him on par with Ares. This was a simply precise, tactical move, not a contest of speed. It's heavily implied that Ares was holding back his true strength.

The shield that Captain America broke wasn't the same shield that Cap used to defend against Hercules. That was a weaker version entirely, and it was already damaged to begin with.

That black hole? Miles was barely hanging on and he was nearly sucked inside it if Shuri didn't deactivate as the black hole was created by unstable gravity gloves. Again, context, Miles doesn't have black hole singularity strength, he was barely holding on and nearly died.

Defeating Doctor Doom would be very impressive....if it weren't for the fact that this is the Doctor Doom from Miles' universe, Earth-1610, who is nowhere near Doctor Doom's level of power from Earth-616, not even half of it.

Defeating Zip Zephyr is also not impressive as the best we've seen the demigod do is destroy some SWAT vans and some large buildings. He's only a city-scale level threat and nowhere near any of the dangerous threats that Deku has faced routinely.

And it goes without saying, that Miles' fight with Blackheart is nothing but an outlier as it's shown that he's been routinely fatally damaged by street-tier villains like Rabble. It's just lazy writing and at best, you can say that Miles' Venom Blast just has a significant effect on demons.

Again, context matters the most. All these "feats" are just outliers and things that don't show the full picture. Miles is just City Level at best and there's no way he beats Deku.
