I can't help but notice that Godzilla has so many versions it'd take ages to name them all, each with its own canon, while Hulk has a clear primary version. I wonder how they're even going to make Godzilla work in DB?
I also noticed that ironically Godzilla's strongest normal incarnation appears to be Marvel comics.
Edit: Oh, I think I found Godzilla's strongest version. It's a bit weird that it's an adaptation of just one of his many versions, and extremely different from other versions of him.

Both the show and the novel were written by the same author who made the most powerful tier 0 in this wiki before the new tiering system revisions. He had some sci-fi writer impulse to make sure the seeds he planted in the anime weren’t left unexplained I suppose.

Ig, but this is one of the worst cases because this one is just flat out lying.
Especially since JPG1 is a literal extension of the original G1 continuity, meaning it has far more similarities with it than IDW does, which is an entirely separate continuity. Yet JPG1 and the guidebook material (Which is just as non canon to G1 as IDW is btw) are both regarded as non canon while IDW is just ???
Man who the hell was writing this. It's either blatant misinformation or whoever wrote the script didn't do any proper research, and idk which is worse.

This MU actually seems cool. But it suffers the same issues as Kratos vs Asura, where you have to go deep into the legends' lore to justify Vader and Sidious not dying immediately.
Probably the most thematic option for Frieza and Palpatine (yes above even Xehanort for Palps)

In fairness, we all saw Kratos' win coming a mile away, both because the episode was obviously trying to cash in on GOW's success and Asura was just the other guy, and also because we know Ben Singer supports all the universal GOW stuff. Remember he dismissed Nightmare's being stated to destroy the demon world as just a statement and then went on to tell us all about how the gods in GOW are stated to be that powerful, classic lack of self-awareness.
Maybe. Both galactic emperors, both seek stronger servants, both manipulate powerful people to get what they want, both look a lot weaker than they really are, both deeply sadistic, yeah, it could work. With Star Wars matchups they have to decide whether they're using Disney or EU though.

That could result in the Death Star for Palpatine and the Ginyu Force for Frieza, although ultimately it comes down to Sidious and Frieza.

With the talk about Transformers, I think Death Battle needs to stop composting completely different versions of a character unless they are similar. It's very jarring if you are a fan of the character in question.
Megs vs Frieza would have worked better if they used UT Megatron ngl. They can still use the character again, just a different variant (G1 Megs vs Vilgax)

Nah, Transformers Animated Megatron vs Vilgax works better since the styles would both blend well together and because TA Megatron gives strong Classic Vilgax levels of menace aura.

I've also seen IDW Optimus vs Netflix She-Ra requested, the connections are pretty good.
I really won't mind if they keep using specific versions of characters, like they did with SF Aquaman or Trunks vs Silver.

Ig but I feel UT doesn't quite have the same contrast with using a G1 Megs? Doesn't feel quite as thematic honestly.

Maybe it's because I'm a Godzilla fan boomer who was watching the show since I was a toddler 20 years ago, including the worst of Showa, but I never saw how bad the Godzilla fanbase could be. I must be sheltered.
For me, Godzilla vs Hulk is either a matchup because they allow Singular Point or it's not because most versions of Godzilla peak at Solar System level and they have Marvel Heralds at multiversal, with higher dimensional arguments on the table now thanks to Simon vs Kyle. IT is basically like True Darkseid, it's the true form of Godzilal on a multiversal scale and hard to just ignore.
I still think Adramelech vs Singular Point Godzilla is better but that's never going to happen in a trillion eons lol

Superman is cool but feels like a set up ngl even with a comp Optimus given Clark wins still and Clark practically had his best with Goku
And to normies if Goku couldn't beat Clark Optimus ain't beating him despite having better odds in comparison
Vilgax vs Megatron is cool but the former is either fighting Ridley these days and even ignoring that the mu always felt like it focused on lesser loved aspects of Vilgax than his OG incarnation next which is why Animated feels better

Freeza's only other choices are Mongul and Vilgax. Mongul is boring and it's a boring automatic DC win due to scaling, even when Mongul (Unless the Infinite Frontier stuff goes crazier than I'm assuming for Mongul) is literally a flying brick and nothing else. Vilgax I'm not sure too much about, but I hear it's an option.

Yeah I get that honestly. Especially since GvS3 wasn't that long ago, likely hood of it happening anytime soon isn't too big. I mainly still ride the mu just because my faves are in it and I think it could be one of the best DBs if handled and written well.
I think it's a fun mu but a bit tricky to handle. Depending on what stuff they use.
I do kinda want it to be an army type battle, but then again, a bit concerning given how they'll handle what incarnations to use.
Kinda funny that the most likely option for an Optimus run back is Optimus Vs Eren. And Optimus Vs Adora to an extent but that one isn't as popular.

Vilgax is honestly pretty cooked because his only wincons against Frieza is a single Multiversal weapon.
That's pretty much also Megatron Vs Vilgax in a nutshell if we use Megatron's high ends.

Being real I think an army is a bad idea because db doesn't have a massive budget in general and given the design's for Vilgax and Megatron not to mention there allies I cannot see that being doable

Mongul is vs just Goku vs Superman but villains edition and Mongol never had the type of presence Frieza had outside the silver age era where he was genuine threat and had aura there and never came close to replicating ever since

As a big Godzilla fan it’s disheartening to see the primary focus just basically being on some untranslated novel where the “big guns” (IT) for one side doesn’t even have an official appearance and is primarily misinterpreted. “IT” is like a giant computer program trying to infect the simulation that is the universe gradually, until it bricks the entire thing upon its actual “manifestation”, so putting a guy who primarily punches and smashes stuff against it because it has some tangential relationship to a giant kaiju which does similar things doesn’t make sense as a fight dynamic at all.
…even if you can just say that Hulk thunderclaps and due to the AP difference nukes the cosmology including the computer program floating around somewhere.

Singular Point Godzilla's best thematic matchup is Adramelech. I stand by that. Just... They're never going to touch that game with a trillion meter rod, they are already hesitant with Fate. Adra installs herself into the universe on the informational level and hijacks it like a virus then she destroys it from the inside
