DEATH BATTLE! Discussion Thread (All-time Death Battle Spoilers Alert)

It seems like having really overpowered Regeneration consistently cooks Heralds lol

Spawn came back from erasing himself so GR couldn't get the kill, and Simon can regenerate on an informational level so he'd inevitably outlast Kyle

Hulk bros...
Surprisingly, as far as I'm aware. No version of Godzilla has godly level regen. At least no version known on Vs Battles Wiki

Also, considering Simon just defeated the strongest Lantern with the LE (albeit unmastered) with his own power and then got chosen by the Ring, wouldn't it be kinda like Naruto trying to lend Chakra to the Kurama? Like would he be the one charging the lanterns and taking ION's place?

It seems like having really overpowered Regeneration is the Anti-Herald strat lol

Simon got Golden Treed but pulled through in the end, that's a real goat!!!

Oh my god that was peak friggin fiction. Hype all around, and though he lost Kyle got way more respect than DC has put on his name. Both really were amazing, my only complaint was that it felt too fast.

Also cheers to both Spawn and Simon for being Herald killers, though I'm still hoping Hulk can win his fight.

They were really the TOP 1 opponent for eachother. Not only were the interactions perfect but Kyle doing his own Giga Drill Break with all emotional spectrum looked 10/10. They also delivered the best finale everyone wanted, the last fist fight. I was hoping Kyle would survive in the end or maybe a "They can't kill eachother" type of tie ending. But it was peak.

Poor Kyle

-Created from the biggest controversy in DC history
-Hated out of the gate by Hal fans for replacing him
-Given no substantial alternative media appearances in his existence
-Biggest cultural relevancy comes from how out of pocket his girlfriend got killed off
-Nobody even wanted him to win
-Couldn’t even get a pity vote from the G1 Blog
-Couldn’t even get the Swank to save him
-Ruined DC’s Herald streak forever
-Last time he’ll ever be relevant

Couldn’t be my boy John Stewart’s all I’m saying

Hey at least he still has one of the greatest comic runs of any DC character in the early 2000s and he still stomps his other best option, Luke Skywalker.

Eh, I always preferred Jessica Cruz.

Me to Death Battle and the now-bankrupted Gainax 4.5 years after putting out my video on why I didn't like GL:

I mean, I still stand by GL being a pretty dishonest show... but good bloody lord did this episode put a smile on my face.

This is the greatest episode of Death Battle the showrunners have ever put out period, and it's not even close.

One thing I did find subconsciously sneaky was how of the two analyses, Kyle was the only one described as if he had weaknesses, and up until the final blow was dealt, I noticed how coy they were with Simon's ability to absorb and adapt to 'custom realities' (y'know, the written shit). Oh, and the way that the fight ended off... all I can say is that Simon turning around and going "the superweapon was me" absolutely blows 'I've been playing Human' out of the Atlantic.

I think there are some small tweaks I'd make to the escalation of the fight (GDB doesn't need to be there as much when the cosmic versions of the attack were right there, for example), but those are nitpicky af.

10/10.

Ladies and gentlemen, WE JUST WITNESSED SOMETHING TRANSCENDING PEAK FICTION!!!

In my opinion, this definitely gives eggman vs bowser a run for it's money. I don't think there's anything else that would be able to top it. My only complaint is that i wanted more, it kinda felt like it went by too fast. I can't really decide what my favourite part was, i loved all of it.

Great to see that simon is doing the impossible, like usual. JUST WHO THE HELL DO YOU THINK HE IS?!?!

This ep definitely makes me want to learn more about kyle too. I only have a surface-level understanding of him, but he looks awesome too, just like everyone's saying

Easy 10/10

Enjoyed the episode, I guess I'd say I'm happy that Simon won? I didn't really know much about Kyle before this episode, but he seems pretty cool. That final clash especially sold me on him.

The pacing was a little weird, though. But maybe that's just a me thing.

Simon didn't use ARC Lagan and Super Galaxy Gurren Lagann and Kyle didn't use Ion. If they used those the fight could fit the full length of Will of the Drill and pace better.
