DEATH BATTLE! Discussion Thread (All-time Death Battle Spoilers Alert)

Music was hells good, and the moment when Chief and Slayer kill demons together is chilling.

Scaling is a ******* disgrace though. After giving Kratos MFTL+ and Multiverse through context, watching them evaluate Doomguy at Island level, Class K, and compare him to rocket speed is just cringe. I get that it was enough to beat the Shief, but when they say context is important in one case, and then say DOOM's power level is up to player interpretation in another, it's confusing. Especially when Eternal has direct statements for scaling
They aint gonna make it stompy like that for chief, wait till he gets an opponent with better chances

Considering the Doomslayer, probably pretty brutally. Then again, Chief is a human, so who knows?

I think the key reason they didn't use lore scaling for Doomslayer when they did for Kratos is that for this fight they didn't need to. On screen showings alone get Doomslayer way beyond Master Chief, but for Kratos lore is the only way he was beating Asura. Going by just on screen showings Kratos isn't even touching episode 1 Gohma Vlitra, let alone episode 22 Asura.

I mean they did bring up the Slayer killing the dude who made his whole ahh cosmology
That doesn’t necessarily mean they buy Slayer himself being multiversal. Pretty much everyone knows he kills Davoth and that Davoth made the verse, doesn’t mean everyone scales Davoth there physically (me included but I’m not gonna get into that). Though the fact that they gave Kratos his scaling would imply they know Slayer has the same and just didn’t bring it up because, I mean he only needed to be above City level for the match to be a stomp

He put up a good fight at least it's funny how Mahito and Chief actually caused visible damage to the winner while asura couldn't accomplish any of that despite having a closer fight in comparison
Idk why DA didnt gave Kratos some visible wounds, it would have been a good opportunity to showcase his regen like he did in the 2018 gow vs baldur from start

I sorta wish they did something more with vega and cortana, they made the latter disable the former, but it was a big deal for a solid 5 seconds until doomslayer just... Saw through chiefs invisibility anyway, it made it feel like vega wasn't needed to begin with which i didn't like, i think that's one of the only complaints i have with this one. I liked the "Who brings a chainsaw to a gunfight?!" comment from cortana though
Just watched the episode. It was good.

And for the next time, I gotta know who you guys have winning👀
My previous banner was Gurren Lagann art, i've got faith in my goat simon

To me it almost feels like Vega was just included to, ironically, give Chief some sort of edge in the ending summary. Like, "Hey at least he has the better AI."

Yeah that was pretty much the guy’s only advantage and technically it isn’t even his superiority, it’s Cortana’s

Phew! For a second there, I thought that Chief was going to actually take the win.

My heart actually skipped a few beats, but I'm glad that I was proven right.
Bro Doomguy was aura farming throughout the fight ngl. Tanking a headshot and headbutting Chief, overpowering Chief and his energy sword using nothing but his Doomblade and bare fists and no-selling a slash from the energy sword in the process, casually grabbing Chief's hand when Chief tried to use invisibility to sneak on on him, and all that other shit.

Huh, they really didnt buy lore Doom Slayer? No uni, just Island?

Pretty good. 8/10 atm

Wellp, next time I have no hope.
I mean, they didn't really go in depth with it. 30 gigatons was like the bare minimum, and they still pointed out how Davoth created Hell which is "unlimited by boundaries of space, time, or dimension." It's just that the fight wasn't even close even without all the more impressive lore stuff
They gave Kratos lore scaling, I’m sure they’d have given Slayer lore scaling also if it wasn’t already a massive stomp to begin with
Yeah they even put the Chosen Undead of all characters at uni. No way they wouldn't put Doom Slayer at that level.
At least he drew blood from the Slayer
Did he though?
